This episode, above all else, showed just how much of a comedic legend Conan is. Breaking Kevin like that, one of, if not the greatest deadpan comedian, outwitting him not once, surprising him in Kevin's own game... this was just a masterclass for the ages from both of them and showed that Conan really is one of a kind.

This was amazing. Both of them grown men, well known, accomplished comedians, but trying to be sincere for 3 minutes broke them. Watching them try to be serious and pass up jokes and opportunities to insult each other, and laughing harder because of it, was like getting in trouble for rough-housing with your best friend at school, and while the teacher is lecturing you both on proper behavior, you’re both still trying to subtly get in the last smack of the fight without laughing, which makes it 10x harder to not laugh.
I swear this is my 60th time watching this and it feels like the first time I've seen it. I don't think I've ever seen or will ever see an interview like it
I enjoy Kevin's style to return questions during interviews, and seamlessly shifting between truth and jokes. I also like the humor of pretending to be serious but then being subtly off in some way when people think there is no joke happening.

@@mi5anthrope Do any of you on this thread even know what the word "marketing" means? Conan knows exactly what he is doing when he keeps emphasizing "this is unusable". Me too, those interviews were so hilarious!
Meanwhile....Jeff Goldblum reading your post....
👀🧐
@@MISNM0 im sorry Jeff... U're the best😂😂😂
whenever im feeling depressed or anxious - I watch this exchange. Just pure joy.
Conan is a national treasure.
I just realized that he’s the best talk show host of all time. He’s so likable.
Agreed. I love Conan. He's his own thing. None of the other late night guys have anything on him.
I think Kevin broke himself to be honest.
@@DarkGob I think so too. But given the length of time these two have known each other, I think there were no walls to begin with. It was just a very open exchange.
Us three and with a plus here, is not liking a SoundCloud.
Imagine how excellent Norm would have been in this format.
"You've become this legend of...not mediocrity because I know you think I'm going to say that. It's more than that...not a lot more, but..."
Nealon is a genius. He's capable of a subtle slap a sentence, even while drowning in laughter 😂
😂 hilarious. I was actually thinking mediocrity when Kevin said, a legend of...😂
This is comedy GOLD! The most humble host brings on the best subversive guest and both are trying to make the other one break. I want more!
Humble?
It's been a year and the "Take a break, we'll be right back" still gets me.
Everytime I'm sad or having a bad day, I rewatch this episode.
“.You’re the captain of the ship. Why do you let things get out of control?”
“Said the torpedo.” 😂
“First of all: thank you for your question.” 😂
You know, I don’t come across Kevin Nealon enough in the stuff I watch. But after seeing this, I’m a fan. This guy is too goddamn funny.
Their comedic chemistry is just off the charts . "Legend of...I won't say mediocrity because you'd think I'd say that" 🤣🤣💀
"You're better than that. Not alot better, but..."
That one was so hilariously unexpected omg.
Yeah he managed to drop the biggest insult possible without actually saying it, that was defcon 5 level insult, lol.
second time listening and still literally in tears from laughter. i love kevin nealon and conan together
Kevin Nealon and Norm Macdonald, both get Conan like this 😂
I've always loved conan, but since listening to his podcast, i've realized he is so unbelievably talented at improv that i've fallen in love with his comedy all over again, he's such a legend in my stupid pointless opinion.
Once every ten years, I find myself laughing so hard that I just can't breathe. Actually, it might be 20 years since the last time. I had no particular regard for Kevin Nealon before this, but this conversation brought me to literal tears.
I'm from Europe, I know Conan but Kevin Nealon is a complete unknown to me, and he's awesome. Funny as hell. Will now go look at everything I can on TH-cam with this guy.
He's great in weeds :)
I’m jealous of you
This was amazing.
Without a doubt the hardest I've laughed in a LONG time. This episode was comedy chaos.
Kevin Nealon's responses to awlward silences are the best in the biz. "...Take a break, we'll be right back." and "Where IS our waiter?"
Kevin Nealon is a freaking force of nature lol
It's slightly frustrating when Conan says this is "unusable" when we all know it's decadently hilarious XD
@@mi5anthrope Conan is a genius but it s really annoying when he keeps on repeating that it s unusable
@@gilveber2929 Eh, it's a lot of airtime to fill while being unscripted. So it's forgivable given how funny the rest was.
@@dangerradiorocks I agree and i love Conan, i admire him. it s just that he kind of miss the point by repeating that all the time. in fact i m picky because i keep watching that fantastic episode all the time
@@mi5anthrope Do any of you on this thread even know what the word "marketing" means? Conan knows exactly what he is doing when he keeps emphasizing "this is unusable". He is generating even more interest in the episode. If something is considered unsuable on TV, it usually means either technically it was a bad shoot, or it is rife with bloopers. Get it now? It's like having 2 movies to choose from, but the mainstream media is desperately trying to keep you from seeing one of them. A la "Sound of Freedom". Which film are you gonna lean toward watching? Same concept here. Be emphasizing and repeating that this is unusable material, Conan is telling you "this went off the rails. It is crazy". This makes you want to watch it even more--again and again. Read the comments here that say "my 15th, 20th, 50th time watching this", then come back here and tell me how right I was.
Holy crap my eyes are burning from the amount of joyful tears coming out after laughing for so long
The whole podcast is amazing. They are both bickering and turning things around on each other the whole time. One of the funniest podcasts episodes I've ever heard.
This is gold. I cannot count how many times I have watched this episode. Two brilliant minds plus their good chemistry is just exceptional.
Nealon has a brilliant mind how? He's just babbling incoherently
Shoutout to the live switcher for cutting back n forth, also added to the hilarity of Conon and Kev's conversation
Underrated
Very noticeable, especially re: live podcasts. Really captures the conversation of the room better.
"Conon"
Are these actually broadcast live somewhere? I don't think they are, these are edited together after the fact.
@@gnack420 I think. And I could be very wrong, but having watched a lot of both podcast live/live-stream stuff, I guess the answer to your question is yes. They are usually broadcast live, with live cameras, then edited later. You often see " live unedited" versions later. But the camera cuts are probably multiple views edited in later for the best one. Watch a live sports game. Most of that is on the fly cuts.
LOL "I was a climber. Rock Climber. Solo. Free solo."
Insane .. loooool
This is legit the hardest I've ever seen Conan laugh. None of the great guests (and there are MANY) had ever seemed to make conan's eyebrows go up like the Joker and his face turn a whole new shade of pink
Yes! 16:47
@@francescaa8331 He looked like Jordan Schlansky actually when Jordan laughs
@@francescaa8331 lmao yes! conan broke
An improv class could use this interview for study a whole year, I cant believe they kept it at that rate for that long, so good
This is one of the most organic, unpredictable, yet so flawless pieces of comedy out there.
I’ve listened to the podcast from the start and this was the hardest I’ve ever laughed! These two brains and voices in the same room…just pure MAGIC!!! ❤🎉
Wow I've never seen Conan laugh so hard lol I really like Kevin Nealon, he is so effortlessly funny. I love it! This was great 😂
😆🤣😂😅😅😆❤️
Check out “Hiking with Kevin” on TH-cam.
:) Effortless is exactly the word. He can just economically slay you with the slightest quip, jape, etc.
not only is all of it usable... it is my favourite interview of all time 😂
Without a doubt one of the funniest segments ever! Nealon is on his game. There is some crazy chemistry between these two. Sona is the icing on the cake! Mr editor, please number in sequence.
This left a big smile on my face!!!
Conan almost looked like he was going to explode from laughing too hard... this interview was pure joy!
This was one of my favorite episodes. I knew Nealon was quick but he is on another level to get the entire room to be laughing. Their chemistry is fantastic!
This was thee best interview I’ve watched in a long time. I rarely actually laugh out loud but you two had me rolling. Kevin is in a league all his own.
When did you last wear a tux hahah so many moments
The genuine love and laughter between these two is amazing!
