Whenever I play Skyrim and I actually stick with it until I’m like level 50 something or Whatever I choose the place style as a Sneaky archer tank, So whenever I’m far away I can unleash devastating sneak attacks with arrows and also when I’m up close and get found out I can also tank massive damage while also dealing massive one-handed damage, And if I really need to I unleash my two handed skill which is slightly stronger than my one-handed but I normally hold off until that is my last resort because it makes me very slow And it makes me take more damage but that is fine because at that level in the game I would normally have 30+ of the highest healing potions and probably over 60 of the highest stamina potions so I can just keep getting health back and keep taking while dealing massive damage and if I really end up taking too much damage and I end up using all my health potions I can get out of the sight of the Anime and sneak and then if I need to again get to a far enough away position and just start using my bow again which can pretty much one shot any bandit level

So the restriction allows me to only buy supplies such as food or maybe small gear improvements for my followers. It's interesting to also walk from time to time and take the world in. Sometimes, people aren't necessarily "good" or "bad." Most of the time, they're just... people, playing with the cards they've been dealt with.

One of my favorite Wintersun playthroughs started off as a priestess of Arkay. She became a devout follower for her first 30-some levels. Then, while exploring a cave in Whiterun, she was infected with Vampirism. Arkay abandoned her and out of resentment, she began worshipping Molag Bal and became the most powerful Vampire Lord in existence (Sacrosanct). This was definitely inspired by the creation of the first vampire, and was a ton of fun to play around with!

It's also fun to role play your characters death, that usually occurs when you mod too much and the save becomes corrupted. Just relate the death to what your character was doing last. For example, my last character was doing the dawnguard quest where he has to take Serana to Volkihar castle by boat, that's where my save got corrupt, so I just say he got attacked by vampires while traveling with boat, and while he killed a couple of them, eventually his wounds got to him. Serana managed to flee to the castle, and I drowned, embraced by the icy waters of the north.

The biggest problem I had when I started new characters was just being able to play for over a couple dozen hours. I’d get bored pretty quickly with my characters and would end up starting over. I’ll share a few tips that I learnt across the way to help maintain a perfect role play playthrough
    1. Keep character backgrounds simple stupid. When I say this I mean that you shouldn’t bloat your characters background story or make a background to a character that’s supposed to be a super OP character mage but only casts novice spells. Give your characters humble beginnings so you can allow them to grow. The best thing to do is to decide a play style, choose a city/province, choose a profession (scholar, researcher, merchant, aspiring mage, merc/bounty Hunter and so on) and start just with that.
For example the best role play character I ever made was a High Elf who was a half breed and was discriminated against. He left the port town he grow up in in the summerset isles and travelled to seek new opportunities elsewhere. He travelled to Skyrim to continue his research into the dwemer. With this background I started my playthrough in the markarth house and played from there. He ended up becoming a super OP lich that was corrupted by all the knowledge he had consumed. I got a good 300 hours out of the character.
    2. Let the world shape you not the other way around
Don’t do quests for the sake of you doing them, do them because the world has made you do them. The biggest example of this is the civil war. Most playthroughs the civil war isn’t something I look into doing early. I do it when one side provokes me enough to consider joining the other or if they aid/convince me enough to join their side. My high elf lich character joined the stormcloaks after the imperials sent hired thugs after him. He was in Bruma at an imperial fort at the border and was working for the jailer who betrayed him. He was previously neutral with Empire leanings but joined the stormcloaks after the imperials backstabbed him.
    3. (Optional) New load order for every modded role play character
Keep the game fresh. I’ve gotten burnout many times from this game because I’ve played for so long that everything is repetitive and predictable. Try to change this. Choose a different play style for each character and base the mods you install after that playstyle. Download new quest and follower mods to add more content to give breaks between the many quests you have already complete many times over so that things don’t get old.

Using the alternate start mod, Im currently playing a character who is a Nord native to Skyrim and was raised in Riften. He grew up in that rather terrible environment but was raised to have good intentions and to help others, he signed up for service and was posted to guard duty when he was of age. Learning that Riften's corruption goes deep into it's law system, he attempted to bring attention to it but was framed for murder and run out of the hold in response. He ended up in an outlaw gang and kinda became the very thing he hated, stealing and killing to make a living. I play him as battling with himself, always wanting to be helpful and do good but struggling to turn from the path he took. Everything was fine until I returned to the outlaw camp I started my playthrough in and they were no longer friendly to me...I guess I was hard to recognize with the new armor..rest in peace bandits pals

A good way to role play is naturally limit your character. For example never take on companions, you’re a gritty survivalist. Use one weapon for the entire play though, as if you were that weapons specialist. Imagine that Skyrim isn’t super broken and avoid exploits. Possibilities are endless.

One rule I enjoy is: you can't use a skill until you study it. For example, you can't use a one-handed weapon until you either pay a trainer of one-handed or read a skill book first. It helps the role playing that, "Hey, I barely know a weapon's hilt from it's pointy end, I shouldn't fight professional soldiers or veteran bandits yet!"
I like to make the iron dagger or woodsman ax the exception to this rule, because hey, you have to survive the wolves between Helgen and Whiterun somehow!

one important thing to consider is: "why are you even here?"
what is there unique to skyrim that your character finds interest in?
do they want to fight in the civil war over ideology?
do they seek to explore dwemer ruins?
are they escaping the law from another province?

I love starting off as a good character who falls from grace and becomes real real bad before eventually having some kind of redemption arc. One of my favorites I became archmage and I recruited the three other students to follow me and the four of us became a band of magical guardians essentially, visiting the holds and helping the jarls and the people, becoming thane in multiple holds, etc. until I got to solitude and did the wolf queen quest, while fighting my character became infected as a vampire and started down a dark path. Started by making everyone at the college into vampires and then went around to all of the jarls and made them into vampires too. did the dark brotherhood and then eventually did the dawnguard to gain access to the "legendary" vampire lord form he had read about in the college. Started off as a really zealous follower of Harkon but eventually fell in love with Serana who made him want to be better. Eventually cured himself and then cured everyone else he had turned into vampires and then finally finished with the main quest as a way to atone for his misdeeds

In my current playthough, my character was caught by the allure of wealth, and joined the thieves guild, once it became clear that she'd have to pledge herself to eternal servitude to Nocturnal, she then set out to pledge herself to as many daedric princes as possible (Nocturnal, Molag Bal, Vermina, Nemira, Mehrunes Dagon, Hermeus Mora) under the logic that when she eventually dies, they'll be fighting over her soul, and she can just sneak off and do her own thing. This is, of course, if she dies, as she's now a Volkahar Vampire

It's amazing how the tiniest of things can inspire an entire character. I just installed a new artifact mod and it includes an item called the Hands of the Mycologist. A pair of fungal gauntlets that multiply the effects of consumed mushrooms 20x (making them roughly on par with mid tier potions) and reversing negative effects. So damage health becomes restore health and so on. Well, I saw these and immediately thought: Mushrooms... Telvanni? And that started my latest character. A telvanni mycologist and alchemist, travelling tamriel to study new and different types of fungi to craft the perfect cure all potion. I item coded in the gauntlets and started off on my mushroom munching way across Skyrim. But about halfway through the playthrough was the turning point. This guy had poisoned himself so many times trying to perfect his craft that he learned to embrace the suffering, ultimately leading to him worshipping Peryite (with Wintersun). Now, rather than creating restorative cures and healing, he takes on and spreads disease and poison in the name of the lord of plagues and natural order.

Quick story time: Years ago I was playing in front of a buddy of mine who was a bit of a skyrim veteran compared to me. I've always been a gaming late bloomer. I started playing about 5 years after the game came out. So he comes over one day and sees that I got caught up in the whole ''infinite restoration/alchemy loop'' and wound up creating a ridiculously powerful smithing item, allowing me to hone a mere wooden sword to deal 100,000 damage lol. I went on to meet the ebony warrior, battle commenced; I pulled out my wooden sword - THE - wooden sword and wacked him once. The ebony warrior drops like a sack of potatoes. I checked his belongings, let out a simple "Meh" and kept going without taking anything. My buddy was like "Duuude! That's like the ultimate F-U to Bethesda, what the heck!" Lol! My silly behind didn't care because of the OP hack that allowed me to create anything I needed. Fun times, I enjoy that memory. I'm still friends with said buddy to this day.

My current playthrough has to be my favorite.
Usually I play Nords, but this playthrough i was an Imperial. He was born and raised in Bruma, and generally has a negative view of the Nords due to his biological father running off to fight for the Stormcloaks out of a sense of duty. His step father was a blacksmith, so my character began with a decent Smithing skill, and worshipped Zenithar thanks to Wintersun. He's initially extremely cynical and reluctant, but slowly starts to come around and begins to accept his destiny as Dragonborn, culminating in him defeating Alduin and converting to the worship of Talos (he sees Talos as more of a Saint than a god, however.)
Then he completed the Civil War, only using the Voice when he feels it's necessary as he agrees with the Greybeards ideals. All the while he keeps a journal that details his thoughts and feelings on various events.
Currently he's about level 30 or so, and has over 50 entries in his journal. He's Dragonborn, Legate of the Imperial Legion, Thane of Whiterun and Haafingar, and known by many titles. Wyrmsbane. Storm-Breaker. The Shield of Solitude.
Sigurd Mystfire. Sigurd the Brave. Sigurd the Wise.
    Sigurd the Unlikely.

I always make my first blind playthrough a catch-all representative of myself. My values, my choices, my favored skills, my ideal self in that setting, accomplishing everything I possibly can without straying from my own beliefs. After that I make 1 character for each faction, playing as the kind of person that would join that particular faction with as much differences between them all as possible. By then I'm usually more than done with an rpg for a bout 5 years. Before I come up with one goofy idea to bring me back to it for a run.
Another idea is to play out a character of every alignment. One for all things chaotic neutral, Lawful evil, neutral good etc.
As a side note, I'd also recommend giving all your characters some kind of flaw. Accomplishments are only half a person's life. Imperfections are the other half. Something simple like, always working alone, addicted to some kind of substance, being sexist, etc. And remember that it is okay to retroactively give your character... well, character after or during a playthrough. You don't have to come up with an idea before playing it out.
on a personal note: My main file is that of a Dunmer born under a semi-noble house before the eruption of Red Mountain. Raised as an immigrant facing prejudice but with pride in his veins his parents and siblings were assaulted and killed in a racist attack. With Boethiah as his example of striving for greatness, from then on he adventured with the sole purpose of attaining power and becoming a whole new Deadric Prince of Justice and Vengeance. This involved learning techniques from all 4 main factions, mastering every Thu'um, gaining political power as Thane in all holds as well as rank in the Imperial Army. Mastering the powers of both Vampire Lord and Werewolf, and of course collecting every possible Deadric Artifact. One especially redeeming quality is that, as a fellow immigrant he is quite fond of his Argonian friends despite the poor history of their races, but as a trade-off, he despises Nords and only tolerates them in his search for power.

I'm still working through my first playthrough of Skyrim after being a longtime ESO player and honestly I've really been enjoying building my character as I go. I started out with a very vague idea of my character being ex-Thalmor, so I made an altmer. During character creation I gave her white eyes, which suggested the fact that she was blind. These two small things actually led up to her being quite the interesting character so far! she was raised as an elite child solider (she-ra style) by the Thalmor and was specifically brought up to be a killer of elite Imperials. For some reason, one that I haven't quite come up with yet, she was kicked out of the Thalmor, labeled a traitor, and viciously attacked with attempt to kill, permanently blinding her. She was chased across the Summerset Isles and Cyrodiil before being attacked once again by undercover agents. She killed one of them out in the open and was consequentially sent to Helgen, where of course everyone thought she was executed. Blessing in disguise, much? While she is left with nothing but hatred towards the Thalmor after what they did to her, she still believes in many of the things she was taught and still hates the people she was taught to hate just as much. After somewhat accidentally stumbling across the Dark Brotherhood quite early on and quickly completing nearly all of it before making much more than a scratch in the main questline, I've decided that she continually worked for them in order to eventually kill the Emperor like she was trained to from a young age, mostly just to prove the Thalmor wrong in what they thought about her. All the innocents were just collateral. Besides, it isn't like you kill high elves before the Emperor (as far as I can remember). But now that she's killed him and seen his calmness in the face of death... I think she's beginning to realize how empty she truly feels. Killing him didn't feel good. But she doesn't know how to leave the Dark Brotherhood now that she's the leader and the listener. I don't know where she'll go from here, but I think she's on her path to redemption!

After actually taking the time to create a character backstory, It became less boring or "mind numbing."
Before when I just made a character did all the quests, and even exploited a time or two, I noticed the experience was mindless. I was never really thinking when I played I just loaded the game sat down and played.
However, giving my character ideals and ideologies, and choosing to stick to them; made the experience more immersive. I began to think like my character and actually role-play, the way the game was intended.

I don't know if others are gonna write their characters, but I am.
Renthir Drend, Dunmer of House Redoran
A former warrior from Morrowind, he saw first hand the destruction caused by The Argonian Invasion. This caused him to throw away his sword and take up a life as a researcher. He wrote a number of books on the ancient cultures and civilizations of Tamriel. First on the old Daedric Temples of Vvardenfell (or what was left of them after The Red Year), and then moved on to a series on the different Dwemer Clans. Planing to write about the rumored Aetherium Wars, and maybe a little on the old Dragon Empire, Renthir makes his way west to Skyrim. After escaping from Helgen, he begins his journey to explore all the ruins and dungeons of Skyrim. Some say that, one day, he plans to go to Hammerfell, to write about The Rourken Clan Of Dwemer, but that's for another time.
Edit: Since this comment was written, Renthir as developed greatly. He now has a slightly darker backstory, more of a focus on Conjuration as well as Two-Handed, and a connection to a very special sword from Oblivion.

Got another one, might as well right it down. *Warning, this one is A LOT longer as I put more detail into the backstory*
      Ra'zah of the Twin Moons.
A wandering warrior with no home, Ra'zah has sworn an eternal vengeance against The Thalmor.
After the Oblivion Crisis, an order of warriors formed to protect Elsweyr from Daedric invasion. This order became known as the Order of the Twin Moons. Stationed in an old fort used by the Second Empire, the Order would hunt down Daedra worshipers, Vampires, Werewolves, anything that endangered the people. They would always request payment from those they helped. And if they could not pay, then the Order would just take what they needed right from under their noses anyway. After all they were helping fight of the armies of Oblivion, that had to be worth something to these rich nobels.
Ra'zah was born into the Order. His father was a scholar, studying the teachings of Riddle'thar. His mother was The Hand Of Alkosh, the military leader of the order. He and his litter would be trained as knights of the Order, and learned how to fight with cunning, grace and honour.
But then, The Thalmor took over.
When Elsweyr joined the Aldmeri Dominion, they demanded the Order swear their loyalty to The Thalmor. Ra'zah's mother gave their answer by catapulting the heads of every single Altmer who had entered their fortress. After that, The Thalmor Attacked. Hoards and hoards of elves stormed the fortress, bent on annihilating every single member of the Order. Warrior, scholar or family member. Ra'zah's father fled the fortress with his children in his arms, while his mother stayed behind to buy time for them to escape. Ra'zah was homeless, penniless, and motherless.
His father did his best to feed them and give them a normal life. He took up a job as a merchant in Bravil, his knowledge of ancient history and natural Khajjit cunning giving him an edge. Ra'zah spent his days wandering the streets, pickpocketing merchants or swimming in the castle moat. Sometimes visiting the people in the Skooma Den. He would often give what he stole from the market place to these poor addicts, remembering what his mother taught him about helping those in need and taking from those who are not. Eventually, Ra'zah took up a job as a bouncer for the local Tavern. He was a skilled enough hand-tow-hand fighter that the local drunk Imperials didn't really stand a chance. He would spend most of his off time at the Skooma Den, helping them as he had done when he was a child. But now he no longer had to steal what he gave. He still did steal, of course. I mean, the rich wouldn't miss a few coins here and there, right?
One day, a traveling caravan of merchants from the south came by. A few Altmer, but mostly Bosmer and Khajjit. This was exciting for Ra'zah, as he had not heard from his homeland since it joined the Dominion. The merchants had many stories to share and treasures to sell, but there was another thing that caught Ra'zah's eye. A young Khajjit woman was traveling with the merchants. She was selling what she called "custom potions". The customer would point to a selection of ingredients, and the woman would make a potion from those ingredients right there in front of them. Ra'zah was in love the moment he saw her and requested he be hired as a caravan guard. The merchants were grateful, but said they had enough guards already. That was, until, an Argonian tried to steal Skooma from the head of the caravan. Ra'zah just picked the lizard up and dragged him back to the caravan head, the guards never saw a thing. The caravan head was so impressed, he let Ra'zah join as a guard. And so, after saying his goodbyes to his family, Ra'zah went off to start his new life.
The caravan went all over, from Cyrodiil, to High Rock and Skyrim, and even to some of the outer parts of Black Marsh. Ra'zah saw many interesting things on his journeys, but nothing drew his eye like the alchemist woman. It took him some time, but he finally asked her to an evening out. To his surprise, she accepted. The two of them went to a large hill out in The Reach. The Alchemist was looking for some sort of rare tree that only grew in the reach. Ra'zah told The Alchemist to be careful, as there were reports of mad Bretons running around The Reach, killing anyone they could find. The two eventual found what they were looking form The Briarheart Tree. A magical plant grown from the corpses of those killed by the Hagravens. Long story short, Ra'zah had to fight off more than a few crazed witches to get to the tree. But, to Ra'zah, it was all worth it to see The Alchemist so happy.
The caravan kept traveling, and Ra'zah and The Alchemist grew closer and closer. That was, until they came back to Elsweyr. Ra'zah had been traveling for many years now, but he had never been back to his homeland. And what he saw sickened him. The old Elsweyr Confederacy was gone, in it's place was the Dominion. Thalmor stood on every street corner, random people would be taken off the streets and posters and banners promoting Aldmeri propaganda covered every wall. Worst of all to Ra'zah, a statue in reverence to The Manes was defaced. The plaque, marked with the names of every Mane to ever live, was burned until it was nearly unreadable. The Alchemist was devastated at the sight. She explained this was her home, and she couldn't stand to see what The Thalmor had done to it. She and Ra'zah agreed something had to be done
As the night came, Ra'zah and The Alchemist got ready. Their plan was simple. There was a Thalmor Headquarters built in the middle of the town the caravan was staying in. From there, The Thalmor held the entire region in their iron grip. They planed to burn the Headquarters down, with all of the Thalmor still inside. But before they could enact their plan, they were surrounded. 20-30 Thalmor agents ambushed them, demanding they surrender. Seeing no other option, they dropped their weapons. One of the Thalmor Agents approached The Alchemist, attempting to bind her hands. Instead, she cut the agents throat with her claws. The Alchemist charged at The Thalmor with a feral rage Ra'zah had never seen before. But it was all in vain, as a single firebolt stopped her in her tracks.
Ra'zah never figured out how The Thalmor knew of their plan. Maybe The Alchemist was known to them beforehand, maybe one of the caravan workers ratted them out. It didn't matter. Ra'zah would have many years to think about it. He couldn't keep track of how long he was imprisoned for. Year? Decades? All he remembered was one day breaking out. Cutting down the guards with blade and claws. Picking locks, like he had been taught to by the Skooma Addicts so long ago. And eventually, feeling the cold desert sands of Anequina beneath his feet.
Ra'zah didn't know what to do with himself. He had been imprisoned for so long, and a traveler before that, he didn't really know where to go. Maybe on instinct or maybe with the help of the gods, he found himself outside the old fort of his birthplace. It was ash. The Thalmor had burned it that night, the night Ra'zah fled his home. Sifting through the ruins, a glimmer caught his eye. Half buried in the sand, a sword. Ra'zah pick up the blade. It was thin, light, like what The Blades used back during the Septim years. There was an engraving across the blade of the sword, it read:
*Under the moons of the night, under the eye of Alkosh, under the protection of Azurah, we will strike down the enemies of her favored children*
Ra'zah took this blade, and swore an oath upon it. In the name of the moons, in the name of Alkosh, in the name of Azurah, he would slay those who would threaten the innocent. Be they Daedra, abomination, or Thalmor.
Ra'zah traveled north, away from Elsweyr. Cyrodiil was too full of Thalmor, after The Great War, for Ra'zah to be of any use. The Thalmor were looking for him, he needed to go somewhere the Thalmor wouldn't find him, and where he could be some real help. After some time, he found his way to Skyrim. A land stricken with Civil War and rumors of Dragons. He knew he could be of some use there. Sitting in a tavern in Riften, he plans to help in any way he can. And, if he takes a few coins along the way, no harm done. After all, he was helping fight back against The Thalmor.
Wow, this was way longer than I meant it to be. Sorry if it was a pain to get through, I just really wanted to get this story out. Thanks for reading all the way to the end.

Ik no one cares but I'll put mine here in case people like it.
Vasco Thorne, a Breton Spellsword who grew up in a small village on the outskirts of Daggerfall. His parents had simple lives, and always tried to instill him a good work ethic and a no nonsense attitude. The boy was always strange, his family would try to instill some sense of right and wrong into him but he never fully grasped the concept. Seeing the bureaucracy of the Daggerfall politics from his small village, he always thought that basing your life on morals was a bit silly and naive. This was engraved in his mind when his grandparents died. They were like second parents to him and the boy always felt more comfortable around them. "They never did anything wrong, so why did they die?" He asked himself this. Being only 8 years old, he didn't fully understand the situation, but this was the beginning of his "might = right" mentality. He started training with a sword and teaching himself a little magic, as their weren't any formal wizards he could learn from in his village. The boy did everything he could to become as strong as he could. In his mind, wars aren't won on being good. They're won on power. He soon moved away from his family, moving from place to place, learning what he could, getting money as a Mercenary, or sometimes even a bandit. He soon met up with a small group of hunters, who took a liking to him and let him stay with them. These were no ordinary hunters, however, soon revealing to him that they were a small pack of werewolves. They offered him the gift, and seeing it as more potential power, Vasco gladly accepted. He left not long afterwards. The pack could not teach him any more. Planning to enter Skyrim, in search of more power, he was caught on the border and sent to Helgen

That way, it's always a surprise to see whether my character is Dragonborn or not, which can lead to interesting RP question of how this character would handle this knowledge and what they would do with it

    • @glowaru
      @glowaru 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

That's a cool idea, I've always loved Skyrim Unbound for having those kinds of possibilities. My preference ever since moving from X360 Skyrim to PC has been not being the dragonborn cause it makes my character feel more grounded to the world, and makes the dragon threat feel more real if I decide to activate dragons; if not then it's also cool to hear the NPCs talk about the dragons returning like it's a rumor and there have only been very few dragon sightings here and there which works out just as well.
I heard somewhere that the player character in Skyrim has a permanent hidden damage boost percentage against dragons compared to NPCs; still haven't found a mod to disable that, but maybe I'll try again whenever I get back into Skyrim.

Mine is he was the son of an imperial soldier who was a nord skilled in combat and has a mother who's a mage and is imperial but he comitted himself more to combat than magic but still knows a few tricks. He lives in Cyrodiil and when he grew up he sought for adventure and travelled to hammerfell where he learned even more combat skills. After learning his parents died in the Great War he quickly came back to Cyrodiil and at that time the city was already reclaimed. He went to his old house only to see it burned by the Thalmor cause there was a Talos shrine inside. He was so angry with the Thalmor he thought about joining the legion for revenge and so he did. After some time the Thalmor came to the city to negotiate a peace treaty. He understood this was all necessary but while watching a justiciar with some thalmor soldiers he was suddenly filled with all those emotions and hate and just instinctively charged at them and stabbed the justiciar on the heart. He continued to kill the two other soldiers but was stopped by his own imperial soldier brethren reasoning that they are in peace for now and this might break the agreement. The thalmor learning about this chose to forgive this one stubborn act if he was given to them for punishment. The emperor agreed and he was put to jail temporarily before being given. While in the cell he didn't regret what he did and was willing to die for it.
He dreamed that night and had strange visions of a black dragon, sovngarde, ysmir shouting at him with the voice then suddenly waking up. He didn't understand the dream but thought instead the black dragon was the thalmor. The emperor suddenly came and talked with him that he never planned to give him to the thalmor for he knew what they would do to him. The emperor knew his parents personally and told him he would be secretly freed tonight. He thanked the emperor and promised him that when the war begins and the treaty over, he will return to the imperial city to fight the Aldmeri Dominion alongside him. It was almost dawn but he knew where he was gonna go. His father used to tell him tales of Skyrim and how beautiful and harsh it is, the culture, the history he was always fascinated by it as a child. I’ve gotten back into playing Skyrim recently and I think my best advice is to not rush through a main quest while ignoring side quests, what you should do is literally go where the world takes you and make sure every thing you are doing is for a purpose. I had so much more fun when I immersed myself amongst the people of white run and did things mostly there, because it’s where the world had taken me. Everything I was doing had meaning and motivation, I even bought a house and adopted a child.
But when I finished the stormcloak vs imperial line which I rushed through I felt I had no motivation to go anywhere. My character had done what I had built him for (deliberating Skyrim, being a wholesome dad in white run who’s motivated primarily by his devotion to Talos) but then I felt like I was just zipping around and doing all the side quests that I had started but never finished and it felt like I was just doing things off of a checklist and my reason for doing them felt quite disconnected because I had delayed them for so long
I think what you need is motivation and proper intention for everything you are doing and never lose sight of that, also try to not fast travel at all, it means that when you go to a city of village or town you really have to stay the night and immerse yourself among the people. And it also gives you time to properly explore
Skyrim becomes incredibly boring when it feels like your character is doing things without purpose in places he doesn’t have an actual reason to be in

I like the idea of playing with the draugnarok mod and wintersun. Becoming a champion of Meridia. And then hitting a turn point and realizing that her light is not the same as the light of the divines. It’s harsh. Powerful but harsh. And turning to Arkay instead. Purifying the souls of the dead instead of just incinerating them blindly. Like a maturity of the characters morals

I have taken a lot of inspiration from your builds in the past, having actually straight up played your vampire hunter build 1 for 1. Your videos are fantastic guys, and they've helped me not only have more fun in skyrim, but in D&D as well.
My newest character is Dar'Rhojah, a Kahjit from Dune who was always fascinated by the tales of Rahjin and Baan Dar that his mother told him when he was a child, and got into plenty of trouble as a result of picking fights and stealing from other children trying to emulate the stories. When his mother died in his teenage years, he began to wander the streets, getting into illegal pit fights to earn some gold and occasionally stealing just to get by. One day he tried to pick the pocket of a merchant trader and got caught. Rather than turn him in to the guards, the merchant offers him a job as a guard, noting that having a former thief as a guard would be a good way to protect against thieves. He accepts and the traveling merchant introduces himself as Ri'saad. Not knowing his actual father, Dar'Rhojah began to see Ri'saad as a kind of father figure as they traveled throughout Tamriel. Ri'saad provides him with a modest education as they travel north, primarily in finance, but even though he's traveling the world, wanderlust still takes him, and he tells Ri'saad that he would like to part ways shortly after they make camp outside Markarth, finally beginning his own adventure.
This build uses all of the EnaiSiaion mods (Ordinator, Apocalypse, Wintersun, etc.) and I play him as a young and naive young adult that excels in unarmed fighting. He tends to let the world happen to him and is currently having a crisis of faith having just finished laying Kodlak's spirit to rest for the Companion's quest line, a guild he initially only joined because it sounded fun. Currently debating what guild to do next, and whether or not he will cure his Lycanthropy.

I made a Nord character and when if finished playing him I kind of made of a story of what he did after. So after he defeated Alduin he joined the stormcloaks and became a war hero, finished that quest line. Then he settled down in Hjallarchen Hall with his family and adventured across Skyrim doing some mercenary work and generally helping the people of Skyrim. He joined the dawnguard when he heard of them from a guard. When he became champion of hermaus Mora he completely disappeared. He went down in history as a great hero, but nobody knew where he went. His family continued on without him. He didn’t want to bring harm and dishonor to the people of Skyrim so in his free time he traveled across it completing good deeds like he used to, but without saying a word, without taking gold for his efforts, and without revealing his identity or face. He did this for years until he eventually died. Nobody knew where he went, or what he did. But that is his story.

A good point to always remember is that placing yourself in that role is a limiter. Yes people change, evolve and adapt but one does not go from a Berserker in heavy armor one day to an Elegant Fire Mage. Just like the werewolf to Monk, it takes time. But not exploiting what is best in game and keeping within your character personality and traits is how you get a good roleplay rolling

My absolute favorite character is a Thalmor Agent turned Arch Mage. After being betrayed by Ancano and taking the mantle of Arch Mage, he distanced himself from the Thalmor, and began studying every form of magic he could. This lead him to the dragon priests of old, and their innate arcane powers. One of which he had already discovered in his travels through labyrinthian, as well as a mysterious time displaced shrine. He did whatever he could to gather all the dragon priest masks in skyrim, to claim the ultimate power of Konahrik. Him discovering his dragon blood along the way was simply a bonus to him, for he saw dragon shouts as trivial compared to his magical prowess.
Mods: alternate start (to start at the Thalmor embassy), Konahrik’s accouterments (buffed konahrik mask and added a full konarhik armor set), cloaks of skyrim (for a badass gold and black Thalmor cloak that matched the aesthetic of the Konahrik armor), apocalypse magic of skyrim, and spectraverse magic of the magna-ge, because vanilla magic is too basic.
    DLC:
After destroying the world eater, he learns through foreign cultists that more dragon priests exist on an island just to the East off the shore of vvardefell. And where there are dragon priests, there are sure to be masks to add to his collection. He wastes no time, even claiming the mask of the first dragon born, and learning his favorite shout; dragon aspect, allowing his dragon soul to manifest as hide strong as ebony, magic ability boosted beyond equal, and ethereal wings, granting him the ability of flight. (More draconic dragon aspect + real flying mods)
After months of constant vampire attacks and months of the dawnguard’s never ending begging, he finally caved and decided to see what he could do to end this nuisance. Once he finds Serana, he feels this urge, this need, to protect her, and not just for her elder scroll. He wasn’t sure why, but he knew that she needed to be kept safe. Not interested in the power Harkon has to offer (or the drawbacks it comes with), he chooses to oppose Harkon. Traveling across the countryside with Serana made him question how he felt about her, and why he thought it. Was it love? No, not romantic. Closer to the love a father holds for his daughter, which she has lacked for thousands of years. Eventually, the final confrontation with Harkon is at hand. Harkon transforms into the monstrous Vampire Lord, and the once lowly Thalmor agent who was nothing but a pawn, calls upon the power of Dragon Aspect. A being of pure darkness, against a being of pure light. They take the skies, exchanging blows, firing streams of concentrated magic at the other. They’re nearly perfectly matched. Until Serana uses the bow of Auriel on her father, giving Him just the opening he needed to deal a killing blow. With Harkon defeated, Serana elects to cure her vampirism, and study at the college of winterhold, under the guidance of her new father.

This was a great video with a lot of good information. I can't believe I'm just discovering this. One problem I have is staying in character, I love to try everything and explore everything and I always want to be nice to people. My character is a 16-year-old Nord named Ulric Haffinger. His mother, Lora Haffinger, was a great adventurer who has traveled all over Tamriel from Morrowind and Elswer to Hammerfell and Summerset Isle before returning to her homeland. She stopped in Windhelm to pay her respects at the temple of Talos when she met Ulfric Stormcloak. They fell in love and had a child together. He was named Ulric in honor of his father Ulfric. They raised him together in Frostvale Estate just outside of Windhelm until Ulfric was arrested after the Markarth Incident. Lora was always a lot kinder and more open-minded than Ulfric. On Ulric's 12th birthday Lora took him out to her favorite spot to teach him how to use a bow and arrow but on the way they encountered a Thalmor Justicar being escorted by two Elven Soldiers. The Justicar noticed the Amulet of Talos around Lora's neck and demanded she come quietly. When she refused the Justicar ordered the two soldiers to detain her but she pulled out her favorite weapon, a Nord Hero Bow she crafted herself and dropped them before they could draw their weapons. She would not allow herself or her son to be arrested for their beliefs. The Justicar pulled a dirty trick and shot a lightning bolt at Ulric so she was forced to use her body as a shield. She handed Ulric her amulet and told him to never allow hatred and anger to corrupt his heart as it has their homeland. "Be the light in the darkness," She said as she died in Ulric's arms. The Justicar walked closer and in a fit of despair and desperation, Ulric grabbed an arrow and stabbed the Justicar in the leg, catching him off guard. The High Elf fell to his knees and Ulric finished him off by taking one of the soldier's swords and driving it through his heart. On that day he swore that he would make the Thalmor pay for taking his mom away and create a land of peace and equality like she always wanted. For the next 4 years Ulric trained under the only person he knew who could make him stronger his father, Ulfric Stormcloak, and became the youngest soldier to join the battle for Skyrim's independence. He tries to live by his mother's teachings but his still very young and the wounds of her death have yet to heal.

One character I would love to be able to play in Skyrim, but really can only play by really, REALLY using my imagination, is a good natured necromancer, so I've off and on considered making a fanfiction of this character. Basically, he reanimates the dead for specific purposes, such as when a town is being attacked he raises the dead raiders to fight against their former friends, or raises the dead in front of their loved ones so they can finally give proper farewells and closure, or raise a murder victim for information to solve their murder. Basically exploring the whole, "no power is evil itself, only how it's used" ideology.

    • @theamazingdagger5584
      @theamazingdagger5584 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Canonically, in elder scrolls, to raise someone from the dead is to enslave their souls to the Ideal Master for all eternity. No take backs either if you were wrong about that person. Basically you are the most evil person alive if you are a necromancer in Elder Scrolls, bar none.

The biggest problem I've faced with trying to roleplay is that quests are always glitching and not allowing the character to develop. For example, I did a similar story arc as a werewolf. My character started in the companions, was tempted by the promise of power, obtained all the totems of Hircine, Ring of Hircine, got all the werewolf perks, etc. But...the guidance of Kodlak made my character think about curing the beast blood for all the right reasons. So my character's plan was to cure themself, Farkas, and Vilkas. My character also wanted the companions to regain honor in Sovngarde, so the beast blood needed to be cleansed from the circle. I wanted to pull Aela away from the companions by making her my steward at Lakeview Manor, because falkreath has a lot of wild game for her to hunt and I wanted the companions to develop without a leader with beast blood. This would allow Vilkas and Farkas to lead the companions back to Sovngarde, being without the influence of Hircine, and possibly even make peace with the Silver Hand to restore the companions to their former glory. Two glitches happened. One was that the Purity quests wouldn't activate for the brothers. Now when I play through the game without doing all of the werewolf side quests (or even any other quests), purity does activate. So I have to focus on just certain parts and can't experience the character's story arc. Secondly, Lakeview Manor glitched when I made Aela my steward and furniture that I made myself and furniture that I hired Aela to construct, just wouldn't show up, so for these reasons, it's too hard to roleplay in Skyrim. Even Florentius in the Dawnguard questline has a glitch, so does Serana, just too many damned glitches.
