What an absolutely epic day I had when I attended the 17th Annual Pacific Waterland car show at Woodburn Dragstrip this year! Not only did I finally manage to get the proper performance out of my JB4, I also got to race the world's fastest Audi SUV!!! Thank you to all of the volunteers at Pacific Waterland that make the show happen every year, and thank you to the track officials for letting Dave and I race one another for the final race of the event! I do have to say the new golf R’s don’t mess around. I was out 4 deep in my explorer ST on e50 tune, ran into a golf r and from a dig he was right on my rear door up to 130 when we let off. I like the Golf platform it’s a cool car 🤙🏽
I'm assuming you mean the last Gen? Mk7 or Mk7.5 Golf R? Or the brand new Mk8 Golf R? Brand new Golf R's are already running 10's with a Stage 2 FBO E85 setup.
@@VancityAudi no it was a new one. My explorer ain’t stock, dp’s, exhaust, hpfp, injectors and e50. Makes over 500whp. I don’t think he was tuned on e85 if that’s what you’re mentioning.

@@2strokeFORever I’m no where near fast compared to the other ST owners. The fastest st makes around 650whp on stock upgrades and does a 10.40, the highest hp makes 775whp with some Xona rotor 5451’s

Sadly I didn't have much content out on the GTI prior to that event so not a ton of people knew that was me, lol.
i got. elantra n dct. just. jb4 car runs. 12.1 at 117. very impressive car. i had to do custom tune. limit the . boost. by gear and able run 0-60 on street. 4.4 seconds
I raced my mk7.5 GTI with a Turbo Systems ST0 IS38 turbo on the drag strip this year and had the exact same problem. On the last stage of the season it did perfectly fine on the first day, then on the last day it cut power at the finish at 105ish mph (I usually get 118+ mph) three times in a row for the last races. Was really hoping that the dyno mode would fix this, but I guess there's no solution to this yet. Great video nonetheless!
Thank you very much for sharing this with me! I was under the impression it had to do with a safety feature of the JB4 and not the car itself.
@@VancityAudi we tried 2 different custom tunes from scratch: the first one cut power right after changing gears, the second one before changing gears. We even pulled the ABS fuse, but as far as I remember that didn't help with the times so it was a no go.
@StonEDeviLMD was your TCU tuned too or just your ECU?
@@VancityAudi yeah, custom TCU tune as well, might even have tried a few versions too

I really like your Pomelo Yellow color. Matched with those wheels (are the RPF1’s?) and their silver color, it looks really nice. The MK8 design has grown on me. I totally could get onboard with the interior if the steering wheel didn’t have haptic touch buttons. The MK7 steering wheel controls were perfectly fine and still look fresh to this day.
Thank you. Yes, they are RPF1's. I love the exterior design of the car as well, but loathe the haptic touch system in the car.
Thats the problem with Mk7's too, can never turn traction fully off. Hence, they be slow as hell

Hi Adam! I have a quick question it’s not about this video but i ask anyways, I saw you did a other video on „downgrading“ your s4 b9 brakes for standard a4 brakes to save weight, my question is would this be plug and play for the b8 too? So a4 b9 brakes on the s4 b8?

I believe he said he was on an upgraded Vortex turbo with EQT tuning, running ethanol.

I did not. It was pretty frustrating. I have to imagine it was the JB4 cutting power because it detected that something was outside of a safe zone. What exactly that was though, I don't know. Any time I logged the car, it looked fine.
@@VancityAudi do you think it was too much power with no dct tune? I was considering jb4 for obvious reasons until I saw your car shut down 😢 any help is appreciated. How was the daily drivability with the jb4?
@lukesturbo it definitely has nothing to do with making too much power. It's something to do with the ECU not being happy with what the tune is trying to get it to do. I'll be dropping a video soon when I was racing with Unitronic Stage 1+ E60-E85 tune and the same thing happened for some reason.

When is RS3 coming back?
@@cernimwell that's scary to think. Hopefully once I have my car tuned with a properly sorted ECU & TCU tune, that won't be the case. We are still in the process of rebuilding the motor so we're still a ways away from more content on the RS3.
Stage one is faster than a jb1 by far
You'd be better off roll racing that SQ5, since the AWD and launch help him very much off a dig.

@@VancityAudi Sure, but he is much heavier and AWD, so in the higher speeds that will give him a disadvantage. You are FWD and much lighter.
@DMCarReviews 😂 and even when considering those two factors, it wouldn't make a difference at all. His SQ5 is VASTLY superior in literally every single way in straight line speed. There is no world that any of us live in which a 299whp GTI comes remotely close to keeping up with, or performing close to the same as a 640whp SQ5. Roll racing, dig racing, any kind of straight line racing, it is absolute decimation of the GTI at the hands of this SQ5.

@DMCarReviews and even with that, it wouldn't make a lick of a difference, lol. So far the GTI platform is maxed out at around 475hp. That's still 265hp less than his SQ5. Regardless of roll or dig, he'd still fly by me like I was standing still.
Maybe once I've built the car to that level we can have a rematch so he can embarrass me again, lol.
