I love that the star ships or🚀 have names and personality and are part of normal dialogue.. this is my first culture book 📖 omg I have just realized that I am going to listen to them all.
@@lindsaybrown3770 just found out about this series a few weeks ago --- I have a lot to catch up with.. my friend told me and so he had be start with an overview video and on the wiki ... then this is my first book
I love every culture novel & don’t read/ listen to many books twice, but this was my 3rd time through them & truly they are like new books every time! I think the BEST ones are Player of Games, Look to Windward, Use of Weapons & Excession.
@@h92oPlayer of Games is the best, IMO! I love them all! Other favorites are Use of Weapons, Look to Winward, Excession… I also love Inversions but it’s different from the others… but it doesn’t feel different… anyway… I have ready nearly 700 science fiction novels… and the culture are my favorites of all time. Just fyi after culture novels, next on my fav list would be House of Suns, Alstair Reynolds.
I love all the culture novels! I’m also a massive fan of Peter F Hamilton… read all 3 series of Commonwealth novels several times plus the Saints series & his standalones Fallen Dragon, The Great North Road, there’s one more…then there’s the series with the zombie/ supernatural stuff don’t like nearly as much bit there still good … He’s been doing those YA novels lately & I wish he would get back to the long far future novels! House of Suns may be my favorite of all time… I like other Alastair Reynolds but not remotely as much as HoS to me it has been his magnum opus; very different kinds of novels but I was also totally riveted, moved by, loved The Sparrow & Children of God by Mary Doria Russell who usually doesn’t wrote sci fi… May not be for everyone who loves sci fi though… but I am a literature buff of all kinds albeit Sci fi my hands down favorite but The Sparrow one of the best books I’ve ever read/ listened to… also love 2312 by Kim Stamley Robinson, the Long Earth Series by Baxter; Seveneves, I love quite a bit of Heinlein, Olaf Stephenson, oh I’m blanking out but that series Red Rising (I think that’s right) the Catherine Azaro series which is more romancy than some of others but not more than it’s sci fi lots of guys love series, The Broken Earth series it’s fantasy but not like dragons & wizards fantasy… Far future sci fi though hands down House of Suns GOAT culture novels close second. Anyway hope recommendations are helpful!
I get serious Lord of The Rings vibes with Ferbin and Holtz. Like, Holtz is the real protagonist. Very fun read. Thanks for posting!
