Welcome back dear to our little village. Now when you leave you also miss this land, Sicily, as happens to every Sicilian who leaves this paradise. This means that the transformation is complete, you are 100% Sicilian!!!
Your videos are wonderful! I just bought a home in Abruzzo and can't wait to get started on my own renovations. I appreciate seeing how the channels are done in the floor and walls for the electric. It helps me mentally prepare for what's next at my place. Thanks for sharing your joyous adventures and your happy natures. You hit the nail on the head with the economy in the US. I've been here in Sulmona Italy for 3 weeks. Cooked all my meals in my apartment, and it was so inexpensive. So I fly home tomorrow. Back to the fantastic south.... I'm glad to see my family, but I really enjoyed this time to myself. It's been very healing. I missed you while you were away. I'm glad you're back safe and sound. ❤🎉❤
@lorraineperron4840 Congratulations! It's so serene here. I can't wait to get the renovations finished and to settle in. Best of luck in your path to citizenship.
Welcome back to Europe, busy bees! Well done for having your floor installed immediately. Now that that's taken care of, I hope you'll experience so much more joy and contentment in your Sicilian country home, surrounded by lush lemon and walnut trees and an abundant olive grove... You deserve it!
A 'tapestry lawn' would be great. All low growing stuff that looks more interesting than a lawn and doesn't need mowing but can still walk on it. It's quite a knack getting the right mix of plants but it's great if you can get it right.
Yeah… it’s complicato. No interest in a lawn so-to-speak but don’t want to waste water and be ecological irresponsible either. It’s just that all of the weeds turn it into a complete mess despite all of our best efforts.
Welcome home! The video clips of your family were fun to watch. I couldn’t help but notice you two are bundled up in your winter sweaters. It will be interesting to hear what the temps do in your area this winter.🥶
Glad you got to spend time with family. That's the best. We had the same price shock when we recently returned to the US. 4 meals at my fav chicken fast food was $70.I must have asked the cashier to repeat the price three times cause I couldn't believe it,
You have inspired us so much in your journey stories that we have just bought a move ready home in mussomelli. We will have handover perhaps around april, the owners are very flexible and we will arrange for my daughter and family to move into our home in australia while we are away, ( to look after my elderly pet chickens). I know, i know, working around my pet chookies, but they are adorable and probably in their the last year. Anyway we are in catania most of this week. If you are coming to catania again this week please let us know, we would love to catch up especially if you need to go shopping for for stuff haha Cheers sonya and sal
Wow!!! Congrats! I don’t think we’re going to make it that way again but please check in when you’re back. Really happy for you and glad for all of the fun things in front of you now 😊
Hello from the Pierces in ME- Beth you look so Sézane in this episode. We love your channel and cheering you on. We too ponder being away from our kids and are trying to convince them to come. Until then we split our time. Have a lovely week! - Jeff & Tianne
Too funny 🤣 She had to check the label. Beth’s sister is really into Sézane and does some work with Garnet Hill (where the sweater is from). Very similar. Check her out on Instagram: _ifitstuesday_
So happy to have you both back again! I totally agree that 'merica is too expensive after living in Sicily. Something truly special about this place for sure. Buy your at home wine in 5 litre jugs, just €8.50 for Nero di Avola, of course, you don't have that great atmosphere of the restaurants and the quant villages of Sicily if you don't leave the farm once in a while. Cheers and see you soon. 🍷
Things are looking good! It was wonderful that you had the whole family together. Honestly, that’s what’s keeping me here. But things around the farm are really looking great.
Thanks! We talk all of the time, so we’re good BUT? It’s the worst part. And yet? If we were together all of the time? It probably wouldn’t be as good as it is now? I dunno. Complicato.
Your videos are great It’s inspiring to see the progress on your lovely Sicilian home. Thanks for documenting your adventure. All the hard work is morphing into beautiful surroundings. Well done you! ❤
Nice video. Yep the market prices in US are crazy. I hardly go out to eat, I can’t justify paying high prices for food that is so so, when I can cook at home and make a great meal. So watching your videos make me smile especially seeing the amazing pizza .
Yeah… and when you buy the beer you’re immediately hit with a tip suggestion. I was a server and my kids have been servers so I tip generously. But that $12 beer is actually $15. And all the kid did was pour a beer and set it on the counter. It’s out of control really…
We missed you! Things have been so hectic that I thought I would’ve missed at least a couple of videos. Glad you had a good time in the states. Not surprised at your shock of the prices here now. I am looking forward to one day experiencing a lower cost of living and healthier, fresh food! The house is looking good!
So fun to see! We live in Water Mill NY Know the east end so well. Will be living in Catania for the month of February ❤. Had my medical office in Greenport that I started 33 years ago , looking forward to the market prices in Catania 😉 Love your Video’s!!
So nice to hear that your trip went well and you were able to spend time with your family. I thinking you could plant clover or something like that. It is supposed to be great for the soil and very low maintenance. Anyway, you both are beautiful and I really enjoy your videos and hearing about your adventure in Sicily.
Yeah… I should’ve been more specific. We really don’t want a “grass lawn.” Just something natural and movable. We have friends who did the same thing. Local grass actually took over after a couple of years.
Hi guys, love watching your episodes with my wife. We are planning to do the same thing in the south of Greece. Just curious because I love your stove, how did you get a gas range? Is it natural gas or is it attached to a propane tank or butane? Keep posting we love all your new videos.❤
When we lived in France we found it on LeBonCoin (used - €10,000 new 😳) I then drove 3.5 hours to Bordeaux to pick it up and it was in our French house for 6 years. Loved it so much we paid a friend to bring it down for us. There’s a video somewhere in here about that! In France it was butane, here propane works equally well and actually burns a little hotter. Best of luck in Greece. Love it there 😊
Yeah… if you’re into making money to buy stuff it can be paradise 😊 And honestly, we are really lucky to be here because you CAN work hard and make good money in the US. But? Not such a great place to LIVE. Best of luck getting back here 😊
Grass is not the correct answer for your house-garden- look into NATIVE ground coverings that will prevent weeds- you are in Italy now- not the northeast US... PLEASE use local plants- ask your local friends...but "grass" like an American lawn- is just not a smart idea for the good of the land and will cause many problems for you... coming to you from southern Puglia.
Not sure why you think I would want to plant NE ‘Merican grass after 30 years in Oregon and 7 in France but I catch your drift. What I should’ve said was something that has to be mowed. No intention of recreating an American lawn here.
@@AnaWolovick-lc8bl Trust me. In France I had a grass-free yard and spent years getting things in order with perennials and ground cover and rock. I hate mowing. Here that’s just not possible. It’s farm land and it really needs to be regularly groomed which is a lot of work in and of itself. There’s also the rodent problem. This place was infested when we bought it and unless we keep it clean? They come back. Just in the short amount of time we were gone they’ve already come back! Plus it’s just plain ugly and it drives me nuts 🤣
My life is so sad. I HATE the US. I want to leave and move back to Italy so bad but with aging parents and other family issues I am trapped here. Some days I think I’d rather be gone from the planet than be here. It’s sad because I love my family but I am starting to really resent them because I am in this situation because of them. It’s heartbreaking. The hate and racism and bigotry here is off the chain. And all in Christ’s name. Disgusting.
Oh SheShe. Your post is so concerning. There are many resources out there to assist both you and your aging parents. Please check with your local community and parent’s physician to get referred to these resources. And I hear really good things about Zoom counseling through places like Better Help that you might look into for yourself. And if you’re a woman of any faith, please pray! I will be saying a prayer for you as well. ❤
Im sorry you’re having a hard time. Life can really suck sometimes and both Beth and I have been there. We are very lucky to have siblings that live close to our aging mothers and are willing and able to look after them. You are a good person I admire you for making such a sacrifice.
So pleased you two are back! We have missed you. X
Thanks!

It’s not bad actually. During the day the sun is out and it’s really comfortable BUT? As soon as the sun goes down it’s sweater/hoodie time!
