When we went to Roatan with Royal Caribbean, the port was sort of cruddy. There were maybe a dozen overpriced shops and people outside of them barking for customers. Nothing was walkable really. Unless you just explored the lame port, you had to have an excursion for anything reasonable. We did go to Maya Key but returned to the ship after less than an hour because we didn't enjoy that place.
