When it overheats, the heat control system is set up to go off automatically. Kindly try to use it again with a different power socket, and if it doesn't heat then we can assume to be a fault.

Don't fry with it, it'll consume all the oil cause the light automatically goes off when it over heat, hence why it consumes oil. Aside the frying, everything else is good. I use it to cook all foods except frying. The one i got is very small, i need a +size for my soups....

Sometimes when the pot is overly heated the light will go off for a while, then comes back again. If that's the case with you then it's normal

Oh no. You may have to try the market to see if you can get only the lid, otherwise you'd have to buy a new machine.
It keeps going off during cooking
Well the cable does that automatically, but that doesn't mean it will stop heating. If yours stops heating after the light shuts off then you'd have to probably change the power cable.
