    Ron Culpa is such an outstanding umpire. Look at 5:25. No one in earth would’ve has the guts to call that a strike because of how it curved, but it was right there. He’s so precise it’s amazing.

    LOL Bryce Harper fixed his hair four times on the way back to the bench.

  • @rapzad3623

    5:30 Ron Kulpa is honestly so accurate. No one else would’ve called that a strike bc of where it was caught, but he got it right. Definitely gets a bad rap.

    Two morebthings:
    1. It takes a TOTAL OF 3 STRIKES for a batter to strike out, not just ONE strike.
    2. "Borderline" = strike.

    You don't argue strikes and balls. Plain and simple.

      You do if you think the Ump got the call wrong.

  • @denelson83

    The best way to protest a strike three call that you thought was ball four is to just trot to first base anyway.

  • @fatheroffab
    @fatheroffab 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Some of these calls are atrocious. But the umpire is watching where the ball goes over the plate! Not where the catcher cathes it!

      It doesn't matter where the catcher catches . It's where it passes the strike zone which is where the plate and the batter is standing.

    Little League Rule of Thumb that still holds true at the major league level. WHEN YOU HAVE 2 STRIKES, you can't be taking close pitches. "Close enough to call, close enough to hit".... END OF STORY!

  • @TheRpadlo
    @TheRpadlo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    If an umpire is consistently making the same type of bad calls...pitch it there and...swing at it...duh.

    • @gag1025
      @gag1025 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If they are consistent then they are not bad calls.

  • @joevignolor4u949
    @joevignolor4u949 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think in spring training next year they ought to experiment with letting the pitch track machine automatically call the balls and strikes instead of the home plate umpire. The calls and the strike zone will be more accurate and consistent. Plus the umpires won't be getting hit behind the plate by pitches and foul balls and they won't have to deal with all the physical and mental stress of calling hundreds of pitches back there every game.

    • @Ghostrider6A
      @Ghostrider6A 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Selvig yeah, a lot of these do sèem out of the zone therefore I am on the hitters side on most of these. Quite a few hitters especially the older ones of have been around longer have some pretty good eyes.

  • @ricktremblay4012

    Umpires say they hate the abuse and throw people out for "showing them up!" First, if you are giving it back to them, is it really "abuse?" Second, if you don't want to be shown up then don't show up the batter. I mean the strike 3 calls and theatrics from the umpires are ridiculous now

  • @komickaze85
    @komickaze85 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bryce Harper is a huge problem. He gets thrown out quite a bit, and when his team doesn't have much on the bench. Selfish behavior, and it seems Allen Porter and Laz Diaz are the primary umpires with expanded strike zones. Torii Hunter surprised me as well with his temper on that first clip. I understand being upset at a bad call, and some of these were justified, but when your team is counting on you, try not to get thrown out. If the game is a blowout, then you can have your money's worth.

  • @gag1025
    @gag1025 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was a player and if I was an ump I would have thrown these prima donas out. They know they cannot argue balls and strikes. I have watched 5 of these videos and 90 % of these calls were correct. I was always told if the ball is close on the third strick protect the plate. No way these batters can determine the difference between a ball and a strike when it is this close. Umpires are not perfect and neither are batters. The umpire has a better view of the ball than does the batter. I am fed up with these overpaid pampered players.
