I kept missing the mark on yakuza never saw the gameplay for years. Seeing it thru the lineup here some how resonated with me. It reminds me of a title on sega dream cast: shemnue, i remember playing that in ‘01. You get a job as a forklift driver, seeing the bad ass in yakuza delivering pizza remind me of Shemnue!! Great content btw
Great video. I agree with many in this list as I haven't played all you mentioned yet. But I'll add a few more here: Mass Effect series, The Witcher 3, Deus Ex Human Revolution, The Walking Dead 1 and 2, Wolf Among Us. Also not hard to realize why we can't get a copy of Spec Ops The Line anymore, those who know, oh they know, just my humble opinion.
Solid list man, I would maybe throw in Witcher 3, GOW 2018, Mass Effect 2, Uncharted 2 or 4, Half-Life 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Life is Strange series, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Oxenfree, Kentucky Route Zero, Gone Home, Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Alan Wake 2, the Titanfall 2 campaign, Psychonauts 2, Dead Space, GOT, FF IX, Undertale, Grim Fandango, Fallout: New Vegas, KOTOR, Portal 2, Silent Hill 2, too many to name & i fear I have waffled on to long. Great picks in your list, I may return to some listed for that narrative beat that hits deep.
@@bengleiss9416 i love the first psychonauts and for me the second is just as good if not better. unfortunately it's not as polished as other games of the generation but it's still amazing given the budget. for a AA game is fantastic, just don't compare it to the big blockbusters
Absolutely loved Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch. Such immersive storytelling that really stuck with me after playing and made me tell all my friends about them. And don’t even get me started on Control! I love those creative brains at Remedy💜
Honestly a pretty based list. Cyberpunk 2077 is the greatest singleplayer game of all time. Edith finch is so severely underrated. Soma is the best horror game, and plague tale is excellent with an incredible atmosphere.
Can’t believe last of us 2 is not in this. I understand part 1 is more captivating to a lot of people, but the writing and pacing of the story in part 2 is just on another level.
@ I know, different opinions for everyone. But for me the writing and story of part 2 is one of the best ever. And yes, I like part 1 better. But the writing of part 2 is undeniable.
@@jcharriaon5424 I feel part II is an improvement on all fronts over Part I. I do think Part I is more impactful on the industry as it is the game that started it all. But just story wise and especially the way the story is told with interweaving stories over the course of the 3 days in Seattle from both sides is just masterfully done.
Probably because of the writing. As a standalone? Yes. But considering it was a sequel, it had more responsibility. Pacing was off, character assassination (not speaking of Joel getting unalived but HOW it happened), too dependent on flashbacks, and you can tell Druckmann wanted you to empathize with Abby yet criticize Ellie.
Most convoluted pile of shite I've ever played...tried it 3 times and just find myself rolling my eyes every time. Really wish I could see what others see in it but it just aint landing...
Hard disagree. Death Stranding was amazing BECAUSE of it's writing. I loved the story and characters, and I can forgive the rare occurrence of the cringe dialogue. I found the gameplay to be fun but it left a lot to be desired.
@@markrennie86 It's a cinematic experience more than anything else. If you prefer fast-paced gameplay that gives you a constant adrenaline rush, then yea this game will surely disappoint you. It definitely isn't for everyone, and just might not be for you. It's certainly not the most fun game out there. But I had fun once I got past the tutorial section and entered the second map.
another great video! Loved it. I always find myself adding a game or two to my wishlist from these videos

poeple don't talk about psychonauts 2 enough, one of the best of the last generation
@@Solid--SnakeI adored psychonaughts 1. But was put off the sequel because I heard it wasn't as good. Have you both played the first me

Dont forget bioshock series it was awesome.
As someone whos new to gaming, this is a fantastic video. I def have some new games on my black friday list. Subbed and liked. Thanks!
Thanks, man!
Disco Elysium is amazing. I just wanted it to be longer...
50 h in and still not done. First timer.
Original Mafia (2002)? For me personally still the best story.

It doesn't deserve to be here that's why it isn't

Gameplay for part 2 is top notch...part 1 has the more impactful story.

I still can't get of the plague tale series ! Nothing matches that vibe 🤌🏻
Kingdom hearts has a story so rich that i dont even understand anymore... still like playing it tho
Still hoping people will turn around on FF16. Sure they made some unpopular changes, but the story was great, and well told
Death Stranding was amazing in spite of its writing.

I thought it was cool because it was different. So sick of all the devs playing it so safe.

Tried Disco Elysium twice few hours each time with different stats, just cant get into it
I will also include metro 2033
maybe it works better in russian but I thought the dialogue (in English) was fucking cornball trash tbh...
THE WITCHER 3
The list is not complete without Pillars of Eternity
I just checked this if there is the best written game, planescape torment. Such a shame....
No Silent Hill 2 or Alan Wake 2.... :/
alan wake
Death Stranding.......... You can't be serious 😂😂😂
Why not? Did you play more than 30 minutes of the game? The story is completely bonkers and sometimes confusing, but very interesting.
