    Please note with the recent patch (25/07/2022) that the setups will have changed slightly, mainly the tyre temperatures as they are much more sensitive to overheating online, career and Grand Prix mode.
    These setups are still a good baseline for TT, but for online you will need to lower the tyre temperatures to avoid exceeding 102-105 degrees consistently when driving elsewhere.
    For my updated setups I will be uploading all of them on a daily basis to my TH-cam members discord here discord.com/invite/83xMPefXA9 or click discord link in description.
    In order to gain full access to my discord, please select any TH-cam membership level here bit.ly/3k8AJmh or click the join button next to subscribe.
    Please ensure you connect your TH-cam to the discord in user settings - Connections then you will receive all my channels in the discord for setups, coaching and priority invite to my online lobbies.

    A good baseline setup I would recommend for F1 22 currently:
    20-25 wings
    60-55 differential
    RLLL Suspension Geometry
    6-1-6-1-3-5 Suspension
    100-50 brakes
    Maximum tyre pressures

    Having front suspension bias towards firmer settings, and rear softer is a lot more realistic in a mid engine rear wheel drive car which suggests that the suspension was never modelled properly in previous games haha!

    This is my favourite video you've ever made. So much value selflessly handed out. That suspension roll bar thing blew my mind because I was before now a set up copier and literally one of your other videos I replied to someone saying there's way too much understeer in this game for me compared to last year and it's been messing me up because I actually prefer oversteer in a car. Now I know why I felt that way so clearly lol. I definitely need to customize my set ups going forward and this is so helpful for that.

    I thought moving the camber slider to the LEFT increases camber. It clearly shows higher degrees of negative camber to the left. The words Min/Max in the UI are counterintuitive.

  • @peterlud87
    @peterlud87 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Thank You for this! I always like having as many explanations of the setup variables as possible, especially the diff settings I still struggle with. I find it quite interesting that I personally use 70-80 diff settings, more camber and toe, and on the suspension I usually balance it out a lot more at something like 7-3-7-5 with really low ride height. Totally different than what you go with! I definitely like the feeling of the car being more "responsive" and not so "soft" and "slow" to react, although it is definitely more snappy if I get too greedy. Although I'm not competitive racing or trying to set serious time trials, I just like the feeling of the car more with my setup, even if it's not as "meta" for performance lol

      Degradation increases 100+, you are at risk of losing it at 105+, and 110, you need to slow down and wait for them to cool down. Optimal tyre temps are 83-95, 96-98 is good. All numbers are in degrees celsius.

    When you say add camber do you mean add positive camber? Even though you cant go completely positive? Cuz adding camber usually means more negative camber. -2.00 camber would give you more grip in corners then -1.50.

    Hey JD, thanks for the great video!
    The thing I always have problems with is knowing and deciding what part of the setup I need/should change. Because there are multiple things that can give you more or less rotation, more or less stability, smoother or more aggresive traction, etc., but I struggle to decide what the best thing is to change to get the car to do what I want it do.
    How do you yourself know or decide what you are having to change? And do you have any advice on how I or others should decide what to tweak in setups?
    Thanks in advance for your response! And keep up the great videos!

    Why does the temperature go higher when running higher tire pressures?
    It should be the other way round, because of less friction. Or will the tires heat up more because i can go faster through corners?

    • @yz85kx85
      @yz85kx85 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pressure * Volume = NR * Temperature
      Higher pressure means higher temperature in gases. Dont know if this is the only factor

    • @richardjennings6903
      @richardjennings6903 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's more about loss of traction that causes the heat. If the car is sliding then your tires heat up. Higher pressure= less traction = higher temps

    For the on throttle differential I usually use 80% on dry, 70% wet and 60% full wet; yesterday I tried 50% but in Austria it has a strange effect: when accelerating out of turn 2, it seems to cut out the engine...very weird (first time I though that the engine blewout) I don't know what's happening, but for a fraction of time the car/engine doesn't accelerate anymore (55% instead works without problems)

    Try this with the brakes and throttle. Find a really good set point to drive. Once you pit if sifts bump down if harder bump up. As you wear your tires out or feel them bump the throttle down as your tires wear by one notch then the brakes up by one. Once you feel the tires start to do it again repeat. Only able to bump down two maybe three time before you will have to bump up for certain turns. Your tires gain grip when your losing it

    Just noticed this but usually lowering tyres pressure will cause higher increase in tyres temperature while driving due to increase in friction.
    While higher tyres pressure can help to prevent the tyres from overheating due to lower increase in tyres temperature from less friction.
    Increased in ambient air temperature, will increase tyres pressure but running the car with lower tyres pressure will cause higher tyres temperature
    While higher tyres pressure will help the car to run with lower tyres temperature
    It seems like the F1 dev got this mixed up…

    If you change the tire pressure from high pressure to low and you test this you will see no changes in top speed at all

    Firstly thank you for this amazing video, already the 2020 one helped me a lot. But I have 1 question.
    In 2020 Setup Explonation you said that if you have brake bias more to the front you will have shorter braking distances (you can brake deeper into the corner), but on 2022 you said that if you have brake bias more to the rear you have shorter braking distances. So which one is now true?

    How come every top time trial setup has front suspension and roll bar set at 1 like last game?

    I've seen a lot of F1 22 setups putting/advicing -1.00 rear camber, what do you think about it?

    If I spin in the last corner on Melbourne, is that due to a high On Throttle?

    This video is soooooo helpful. Have always struggled making my own setups and have always copied other setups.

    Question; does the setup you use change when you drive in different cars? (for example in carreer mode)
