      After your first build, later on upgrades are easy and so much cheaper.

    I love how the viewers, the camera and the crew are just the "rubber ducky" for Linus. He explains something to us and thus has to put it into words and then figures stuff out.
    Usually programmers have a rubber ducky. Before they ask their colleague or a boss about an issue, they explain it to this duck, either loud or in their mind, but building complete sentences, imagining the other side not knowing too much about the problem yet.
    Many then figure it out, without talking to anybody afterwards :D You can see it happen at 25:00 :)

    Hello Linus, PCB design engineer here, to answer your question about why they have two pcie connectors there, it is because the thin lines on the board can't handle all 200-300w of power going through them in just one connector. Long answer short, it can cause heating and stability issues.

    I know it's a small thing, but soy sauce and butter is totally acceptable in Japan. In Taiwan, my parents in their younger days use to have lard with soy sauce. When the times were better, you would add a raw egg to the mix, and use the heat of the fresh cooked rice to half cook the egg

    That power supply is pretty sweet and I might get one for myself, but to your point - you can have a door-less basement. I had a friend in school who lived in a house built in the 1700s and it had a basement that could only be accessed through the floorboards and a second basement that could be accessed by climbing through the inside of the wall and sliding down. The house used to be the general store, so I suspect the basements were for storing dry goods and possibly bootlegging (possibly rum-running since the goods would be coming in from port).

    Or maybes they assume every PC builder has tones of PC screws already? I been building my PCs since the late 90s. I have an old custard powder jar that is full of PC case screws, motherboard screws, PSU screws, HDD/DVD screws and even old floppy screws. I even have a bag of 20 green Molex connectors that you insert the cables into using a screwdriver that I ended up never using.

  • @zg1k68
    @zg1k68 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The gpu plug thing. The PSU connector port has a substantially lower under load temperature than the GPU ports. As you heat up a conductor, the resistance increases, which then causes the conductor to heat up more, causing a runaway thermal condition when you pass a certain threshold. There are also typically sensors in the PSU that will throttle or shut off power to a port that is overheating on the PSU, but cannot monitor the port on the GPU, so they designed it in a way that the port on the PSU should be the first to overheat if a critical situation is eminent. That was the thought process behind the design, but whether or not it's a functional feature of the PSU depends on the manufacturer.

    Bravely Default 2 is insanely good! Yes gaming has moved on but BD2 is still an extremely good game. It’s particularly good in handheld mode. It just feeeels like a game you’re supposed to play on a handheld. I think that same studio made Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 which is even better. I am not a qualified electric engineer but as I understand it the thicker the cable is(the gauge) the more watts you can run along it without causing any problems like an electrical fire. The trade off of course is the thicker cables is the more stiff they become. In house wiring you would need a cable that can handle 10kwh like a power shower(running off a 40amp fuse from your fuse box or circuit breaker). You wouldn't run very thin cables for a power shower, you would end up with the cables burning and your house would burn down.

They had a diagram showing to connect two separate cables from the power supply to the graphics card and not to use the cable that you were showing with the split 8pin. In cases of Max load, some single cables could get too hot for spec. Having a one cable standard would be so much easier for everybody I agree.
