As a Canadian, she was my queen, and a queen in the hearts of many the world over. She devoted her life to public service, and was an inspirational woman of such character. Her selflessness, dignity, strength and love of country were unmatched.

She isn't one to show her emotions but I think it's safe to say that you're absolutely correct. She must miss him terribly and even being surrounded by your children and grandchildren doesn't cover it. She feels something she has never felt before with the loss of her husband whom shes been with her entire adult life. My Uncle John lost my Aunt Audrey this past summer in Scotland. They're married for 60 years and he makes his way to her grave every day and then back to their lonely home. It's heartbreaking and scary.

Yes, Prince William is lovely and will do fine, but you might have missed the part of the documentary in which they say William has his mother's looks, but has the personality of his father's side of the family. Likewise, they state Harry resembles his grand-father in looks, but strongly inherited his mother Diana's commoner, grounded, and compassionate personality.

I just wish he was easier on Charles. In those times it was more common to break a boy's spirit in the name of making him tougher or into a MAN! and for a father wanting to make his son into his own image.

I'm so glad that it's more understood about raising children to be what they are strong at and what it is that they want to do and be in their lives and nurturing that in them.
When the "Fim" came to NZ on a visit prior too Charles being married to Diana, Philip was like a sheep dog rounding up an 'erant' Charles who was wanting to meet & greet - something his mother failed to do, as she stuck firmly in the middle of the walk-space, not looking anywhere but Strait ahead.
I met Charles, however briefly, before Philip came up & shooed Charles back into mid stream.
Charles has been met with on tour with the Duchess since & a good conversation ensued with both partys.

my sympathies & condolences to you, and to the Queen. I've been wondering how shes been getting along, it has to be soo very hard. My Nan lost my PopPop recently, as well. They were together 72 years! Shes 95 now, and She just misses him terribly. She cries at least once an hour. Poor thing. Shes strong, though, like the Queen is, I'm sure of it.

Prince Philip was an amazing man. I am sure he was great strength for the Queen; most especially at the sudden death of her father George VI in 1952. It was heartbreaking to see the Queen sitting by herself at his funeral.
Prince Philip isn’t really gone. Gosh I can feel the essence of the man just by watching old documentaries in black and white, hearing his witty comments and rather uncouth opinions,to me they are hilarious. A grand gentleman who stood up to his role and right beside his wife. He is still right beside our Queen. For a man to take second seat to his wife, he played out his role as Queens consort admirably. No, Philip is still with us as long as we remember.

I know both of them, are looking down from Heaven, where they have been reunited. I appreciate them more, since their passing, so deeply and only now, realize the extent of their touch upon the world. Devoted to each other, their country and the common wealth.

For some startling facts I recommend the Lady C youtube broadcasts. She was actually present through the 1970's to today, knew almost everyone in royal society, and if she didn't her friends did. She is committed to truth, not drama.

She was young and he was immature. They both needed parenting and a strong supporter in their lives.
