PetiteRosette I though that too. Anesthesia makes your subconscious come out more. I get a procedure done every 3 months and I get anesthesia. I've been told I act more Mexican than I usually do under anesthesia. I also get more needy for water too

I haven't personally been under that kind of anethesia, but my little sister has and though it wasn't funny at the time - she was in a real bad condition - talking about it in hindsight is pretty comical.

I apparently started speaking in German when the last time I was loopy on anesthesia, and apparently it was coherent. I can barely speak German normally because I got lazy about learning it when I was a teenager.
EonArashi anesthesia is magical. Apparently somewhere in my brain I know fluent Spanish from watching Spanish soap operas with my parents as a kid. Because when I get anesthetized I only speak Spanish but normally I only know a few words.
People talk about what we could do if we had access to more of our brain, I'm interested in what we could do if we had access to all of our memories.
4 years later and Mal's surgery has happened. Stephen being just as helpful to Mal as Mal was to him. Marriage goals.

@@CartersRemasters No, you're extremely wrong. A burst appendix, which is definitely were Stephen was heading if he hadn't done something when they did, isn't something as flippant as you want to pretend it is.
@@CartersRemasters Appendicitis leads directly to a burst appendix if not addressed. Burst appendix will kill you. Sepsis kills people all the time.

It really is, I mean you should be able to expect someone you're married to, well, to take care of you when you're sick or in such a state as stephen was, but she goes above that which is very respectable. Thumbs up and a tip of the cap to you for stepping up like that Mal :)
And on the flipside, after seeing Mal's Endo surgery, Stephen's devotion to Mal is just as enviable

6, almost 7 years later, and these two vlogs helped me when my mum was suddenly feeling serious pain in her side. It reminded me so much of your experience that I was begging her to get it looked at.
Today she finally went in, and, sure enough, Appendicitis.

Looking back on this now cause today "Kelsey" was mentioned on breakfast stream for Nurse's Day yesterday. This is the most grandpa Stephen has ever been.
This is where that "Sickness and in health" part of marriage comes in. Way to go Mal for taking care of Stephen and making sure he didn't burn himself with that chicken broth. It was really nice of Dan to stop by and help out as well.

It was super weird editing this. I remember that Dan was there, and I remember drinking sweet tea, but everything else was super foggy. I laughed a lot while cutting this together, and it helped jog my memory a little bit, too.
The bed shifts where the pressure on your body is to try and prevent bedsores. From a former CNA :)

The bed is an air rotating mattress and it moves air around to relieve pressure points to prevent pressure sores (bed sores) 🙂

I am very late and watching backlogs causally, but "oh lord, I wasn't ready for clarity" is an absolutely powerful line for someone so out of it.

I'm so sorry for laughing, but anesthesia Stephen says the most hilarious things. I was on the verge of tears.
These last two vlogs almost made me cry. Seeing you in pain and in the hospital bed. I am just so glad you are doing better.
Also, Kepler knew you were not well, and was making sure you were alright. That is the amazing thing about pets. The just...know.
I can feel this level of anesthesia and how silly it is. I once had to have all 4 wisdom teeth gone in one go, and afterward they offered to wheelchair me out to the vehicle with my mom and I first declined, thinking 'well why couldn't I just walk...?' Then I tried getting on my feet and my legs buckled like toothpicks, and I responded immediately with a drugged gasp and "Oh, NOW I understaaand!"
Despite the anesthesia and druggie state at the time I still remember that vividly, and I really don't know why. I expected something like that to be One For The Mom To Never Let Me Live Down.
I had the same surgery, but here they put you in like a community room with other patients until you wake up and when they notice that you’re awake they cart you in the bed back to your room

STORY TIME! Okay so when I was like, 8 ?? I was in school and suddenly had a super sharp pain in my side and I couldn't walk. So I go home, say bye to my mom who's going out of state for three days so it's me and my grandma and my pain isn't going away so we go to the doctor, and guess what! Lil 8 year old me has to get my appendix out and MY MOM IS OUTTA STATE. So I panic, get admitted to the hospital have to deal with my medical needle fear and go to surgery. I wake up my moms there (apparently she drove all night, bless her soul) and all is good. I was fine post surgery, until I discovered I missed my grades fieldtrip to a local dinosaur museum, and that is what Broke lil 8 year old me about the whole thing. Missing a field trip

This is bar none, the best thing I have ever seen. These 27 minutes are a gift. Sucks that it came about from some...unwelcome circumstances, but hey, at least we can all laugh together with Stephen.

The drugs they put me on after my c-section were very strong, and they made me very sleepy/loopy. I remember my husband holding my son, looking at me and he said, "let's do this again."
I gave him my most stone cold, serious face.... "You. Will. Wait." He thought it was hilarious.
When I was watching this, my sister was in the room studying for her board exams so I had to be quiet, which was a struggle. I probably looked crazy, silently laughing with tears streaming down my face XD
So glad you're better now, again; hugs for you and Mal. On a lighter note, it was kinda funny listen to you after you came back fro surgery; do you even remember saying any of that, probably not if I had to guess.

as someone who's been on both sides of the surgery and recovery this is absolutely adorable and hilarious. post anesthesia care is one of my favorite areas and it's so sweet that Stephen kept remembering his nurse :)

As I said before, I'm very grateful that you're doing alright- well, decent- right now. Getting the appendix taken out is a pain (literally) and, quite frankly, sucks (which is an understatement). On a side note, anesthesia is fun! Needing to use it usually is not. I hope you're still doing well!
Penguin Lord I never been on anesthesia but from what I seen its something else
the few times that i have been under it I have been violent, fully incomprehensible, or on the verge of a mental break down. Its fun to see others, and depending on what you're like, fun to be on.
Penguin Lord anesthetized me speaks fluent Spanish. My mother only speaks in riddles, albeit simple ones. And my step-brother felt the need to come out as straight, he's married to a woman and they have a kid.
Anesthesia is one hell of a trip, and it's amazing.

Sitting in the hospital for hours after several hours of pain from his appendix and Stephen is still concerned about whether or not his wife is comfortable. :) Hope someday I have a marriage like these two.

I'm surprised I never actually shared my funny anesthesia stories when you first uploaded this video, so... Here I go!
One: When I had my third and final eye surgery, I woke up hallucinating that I was watching Arthur on TV, and then it suddenly transitioned to Garfield... But not the actual Garfield & Friends show, it was literally just the strips being shown as a slide show. What I _didn't_ remember, until my sister reminded me a few years ago, was that I actually said, "Hey, look, it's Garfield on TV!" out loud... even though there either wasn't a TV in the room where we were, or it was turned off.
Two: When I had an MRI at the age of 12, I had to be put under because I have sensitive hearing (listening to music wasn't an option offered to me). When I woke up, the first thing that I said was, "It's okay, I'm back in my right mind again!"

First of all this was a great vlog. Second, I know how the coughing/sneezing after surgery is the worst thing in the world. For a month after each of my hip surgeries. If I sneezed or coughed it was a terrible pain. For a while I was afraid to eat, because I thought I would get sick, and I knew if I got sick it would hurt so much more than coughing.
Also, for a story, when I had hip surgery (twice, my third coming up next week) I was under anesthesia. I would day dream and have conversations with people in the room, but the conversations were always in my head and that lasted for about two weeks. It was kinda funny :D

Watching this after Mal's surgery and recovery videos. Stephen is the same way she is, mind wants to go, body says no. A perfect couple.
This was 3 weeks before I actually had surgery I'm glad they had a good time with the anesthesia I had the hardest time getting out of it. The ginger ale I had was great, hope it healed up well and didn't scar too much. Mine probably had a much rougher recovery time though I hope yours went well as we will see soon.

Oh man. I'm going to be under anesthesia for my upcoming oral surgery, seeing Stephen like this has made me so glad no one will be recording me. I'm glad the surgery went well and you're better now.
I appreciate how lucid you are after anesthesia. It's probably weirder for you watching this, but I applaud your dedication. I don't usually talk about my own videos because they're kind of weird to me, but compared with my video of waking up from anesthesia, you are really quite with it here. It's probably the best of my videos and I don't even remember it. I am a rather literal thinker, so the video is mostly me describing exactly what I was seeing or feeling. I do remember being enamored with the light on my dad's phone camera, and being really confused when the dentist offered me ice cream, so I just got chocolate ice cream without knowing what it was. To this day I still don't know what the options actually were. It was good ice cream though.

I hope you feel better now you have had time to recover from your surgery Steven. I can understand how painful it feels to go through surgery. I love how your cat was being supportive for you as pets tend to be more sympathetic toward pain in their owners. My aunt's cat does the exact same thing anytime someone lays on the couch and they feel even the slightest bit unwell.
