It’s all the little things and quirks for me honestly. I’m currently watching their Zelda BOTW play through and just hearing Stephen be super proud of Mal and just even seeing him blown away by her intelligence. They are both also very different in that regard of Mal is very good and puzzles and Stephen is really good at action parts of games. They compliment each other in a lot of ways
being a new grad nurse, i find these vlogs very interesting with seeing your guys’ perspective of things. it’s easy for nurses to forget that another day of work for them can be one of the biggest days for their patients, but with watching these vlogs i have learned far more than what i possibly could with reading from a textbook. thank you again for sharing this aspect of your lives with us and i’m so happy mal feels better :)
Poor Mal. I feel bad seeing her in pain,. I'm glad Stephen is there for her at least. Also, wow. The fact that she's walking, let alone standing is awesome. Sending Good Vibes from Canada #TeamMal
I love how Mal felt well enough to vlog herself multiple times ☺️ that shows how well she's feeling ❤️ she knew we'd want as much reassurance that she's OKAY as possible. We love you Mal ❤️ #TeamMal forever
Also, I totally understand the switching between oxy pain meds and ibuprofen. I also had to take blood thinner shots every 12 hours for 2 weeks or something 😣 noooot fun
It's so incredibly hard to go through what Mal has been through, not only with surgery but over the past years. It's also hard to be the caretaker too, though. As someone who has been in both positions, I have so much respect and admiration for how well you two are handling everything. It won't be easy, but hopefully Mal sees a light at the end of the tunnel now. Sending so much love to you both. (also waiting to find out what Mal's new super power is with her brain fog hopefully clearing)
Replying to make sure this stays a top-ish comment (not specifically for Mal, but because it's important to note for anyone anticipating medical procedures).
I was given oxy a few times in the hospital and the constipation is just insane and even years later my body still remembers it and has like a desire for it and I didn’t even use it all that much and I tried to forgo it except in the very worst situations. It’s a drug that tries to hook onto your brain really easily. Definitely something you want to be careful around.
For the record I don’t know the exact differences, but Mal is on Oxycodone which is not quite the same as OxyContin. But yes, it is an opioid all of which are addictive.
I'm recovering from brain surgery and needed some comforting inspiration so came and sought this out. I'm so glad Mal is doing well. Thank you guys for what you share. It makes the world a little less frightening and lonely. ❤️
I haven't watched the vlog in a long time but I have been SO invested in these last few days. Mal and Stephen are so good for one another. It just warms my heart.
@@MalMakes I know the feeling. I’ve had 27 surgeries and have had my fair share of hospital food. Some of it’s ok but other things are just awful. Lol.
I have got enough faith to know that Mal's got this covered. And with Stephen by her side, they can do anything. Best, positive vibes for both of them. And a little extra patience. Mal's recovery IS a test of patience. A lot of people, including me, can use more than enough patience.
Awww that intro!! Mal you're such a boss - I don't think I've ever seen Mal intro a vlog before, I'm sure she has done before, but I've never seen it. Let alone after such huge surgery!! You're amazing, Mal - and I love the cutting between your perspective and Stephen's. Shows a sense of time passing and you two being apart. And the love and trust and comfort and care between you two is just unreal. You two are just both incredible honestly. Onwards and upwards in the recovery, Mal.
@@ThunderHam Right? I'm sure it must've happened before, but it's been rare. And for one of the intros to be right now, the morning after major surgery? Mal's a boss.
Both Stephen and Mal have support form me. As a kid I had many surgeries, mainly because I had cancer at a young age. Now as an adult, I don't plan on having any for the rest of my life, but I'm off topic. My hopes and prayers go out to Stephen and twice as many to Mal for her recovery.
So glad that the first day of recovery started out well. It'll be a long road until full recovery, but with you helping Mal, Stephen, she is going to feel better than ever! Good vibes ya'll!
... HOLY SHIT. Mal? I was not expecting you to be behind the camera for this video. I just started, so I don't know how much of it was filmed by you, but... FUCKING HELL.
Stephen’s care regimen reminds me of my husband’s regimen for me after my hysterectomy. And I know Mal is dealing with a lot physically (both in this vlog and currently), but I hope she’s very, very relieved to be on this side of it. Nothing but upwards from here!
hope you are recovering well, Mal. remember, if you're having trouble with scheduling lots of things at once, feed Keppy at the same time as doing some of them, he'll never let you forget again!
The clip of y'all walking around the apartment was so sweet and delightful it's literally grandma and grandpa slowly walking lol. Glad to see you're doing good Mal!
Amazing to see progress and at least as well Stephen taking notes and just seeing Mal doing her best as well. Amazing progress hoping for the best, you both got this and just make sure both get plenty of rest and stay eating from time to time.
I am 6 weeks out from ACL surgery and had OxyCodone and doing a good job of making sure I didn't get addicted was my big goal and only needed it for the first 3 weeks. Getting in and out of things like the shower was very interesting for awhile.
Some women after surgeries like hers feel really good really quickly and have a great recovery while others aren't so lucky. I'm so glad to see Mal seeming like she's one of the lucky ones. It's a rough go at first, recovery. It can be a beast actually. But when she can go a time without major pain or living on a heating pad it will be so worth it. Believe me. I know. Keeping you guys in my thoughts! Such a great caretaker she has. #relationshipgoals
So glad shes getting better! Very glad the procedure went so seemingly well!!! Nothing but support for Mal and Stephen in this time!! Also, what is a Techo?
Techo is a japanese diary/journal that mal has been using for the past few years! (I think it's eithwr the brand or the method of journalling) - they have a couple of Techo unboxing vlogs on the channel!
Yup! Piggybacking off of Michaela here's a vlog for the 2022 Hobonichi Techo where you can see the unboxing of it where Stephen and Mal go over it in detail: th-cam.com/video/LG-7ST1UPSo/w-d-xo.html If you also just search "Stephenvlog Hobonichi Techo" you'll find multiple vlogs of different designs from different years. Hope that helps!
I've kind of always wanted to see Mal start the vlog, so that was a nice thing to see. Keep it up Mal! I know you're even further along with recovery than where you were in this video. Hopefully you're at the point of weaning off the pain meds. You got this!
Mal you got out of there so fast!!! Way to go super star!!! And yessss the gas pain after major abdominal surgery is honestly, one of the most uncomfortable parts of recovery. Everything else is just about building your stamina back up. You passed your check out requirements so quickly and so well. I’m not really a gambling person, but I’m betting you feel like a million bucks today. 😁
Honestly, it's so weird seeing you get discharged so soon after surgery. The last two times I had to get surgery, they kept me for several days, and both procedures were considered minor. Then again, I guess that's the difference between US and Canadian healthcare steps in hospitals post surgery.
I agree. I can’t imagine how scary it must be to have to leave before you feel ready to care for yourself just to be able to afford the bill in the end. If Mal were living alone and didn’t have Stephen, there’s no way that would be possible! So sad, but definitely makes us appreciate free health care, regardless of how broken our own system can be sometimes.
It’s phenomenally sad (US resident here). It’s necessary because the different between inpatient (five figure bill, already insane) and outpatient (SIX figure bill) is outrageous. It really sucks that here in the US we just can’t get the care that we need because money is such a huge and often the predominant factor we have to consider.
@@bjam89 Yeah, apparently (as mentioned in the description) in the US they try to let you leave after exactly 23 hours in the hospital because after 24 hours you become in-patient and the bills become even more huge than they already are... I'm also Canadian and this is insane to me.
I had a lot of success with polyphasic sleep back in college, specifically the Dymaxion version (taking four 30-minute naps every 6 hours for a total of 2 hours of sleep per day). If you're finding that your sleep schedule needs a bit more structure to it, I'd suggest it.
When I got my endo surgery the gas pains suckkkedd 😤 a heated wrap thing around the shoulders helped as that's where it accumulated in me, oh and sipping peppermint tea helped ease it too! Either way, do what makes you comfortable Mal and hopefully the gas pains passed relatively quickly.
I’m glad you’re getting better Mal. Hate to turn this about me but this vlog occurred on my birthday. Anyway, Stephen be careful not to give too much Oxy Contin to Mal. It’s an addictive drug to people if they are given too much.
I love Mal and Stephen's relationship, and how much he cares for her.
They don't alwayd outwardly show it often but there's moments it peeks through and its always the sweetest parts of the vlog
