    Great videos.
    I feel a bit sorry for the dealers not knowing what tyres\wheel colours dtc are going to turn up.
    It makes me think the Brompton factory is a bit chaotic
    or the marketing bods like to introduce just too many variations
    or maybe supply lines are still not settled down since the disruption of covidm

    Hi! thank you for this video. I've just purchased a P-line here in NYC and I notice that the rims are clearly not the more aero P-line rims that I see in the images on the website. Are there any material differences in weight between the two wheelsets (using different rims), and do I have a reasonable basis for a complaint here? Also, the pedals unfortunately are also not the superlight removable ones - but no complaints on that as that's what the brompton website states in the specs at the moment. Thanks

    • @brilliantbikes
      @brilliantbikes  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Brompton changed the specs of the P Line for this year. They are the same hubs and spokes as the lighter wheels, just have the C Line non aero rims. They are very slightly heavier but not much.

    How is the P on hills?

    • @brilliantbikes
      @brilliantbikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question
      Because it’s lighter - hills are easier just due to the weight reduction over the C Line (why do we keep wanting to write Sea Lion!)
      If you live in a hilly area you could benefit even more with reduced gearing
      Best bet is to demo one from your local Brompton dealer

    As an owner of a, now - even lighter than: 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton (for now 9 kilo (with mudguards, as a "Rainy Dane"!), and still falling!!!), I do like my former Top-model, a Flame Painted, Gold bike (Black Edition), which now seems to be a standard choice, and not only a "Special Edition", as mine?
    I am sorry though, that I never got offered a choice of - "anything at all"(!), but only got to see the select number of the "Finished bikes" which they had in the ordinary bike - and Brompton Shop as Samples. A red, as mine and some "lousy" and cheaper/heavier version of a Brompton! But all with the long - 600 mm "Scandinavian Size" Saddle Post, as we are generally tall people up here, and we mostly can't use the original "Children Size" posts, which are standard on, it seems, most other markets?
    And this post doesn't fit in my very solid and German, B&W luggage box for a Brompton though, so I have to "disassemble" 🙄my "Folding Bike" before Travels! And still with the original folding pedal, as I would indeed "hate" to be able to loose a pedal during travels and transport! With a huge size, titanium bolt, though! Finn. Denmark

  • @MrLM002
    @MrLM002 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it's a bit hypocritical of Brompton to tout how sustainable they are while they have very limited options for their bikes.
    For example I want a 3 speed with high bars in Turkish Green (teal). To get a new one from Brompton I'd have to pay extra for a 6 speed electric high bar, remove the electric drivetrain, do the 6 to 3 speed conversion, and then I got a bunch of parts I don't want that are otherwise new that could have been used on a bike someone wanted and or as brand new replacement/conversion parts.
    I understand that custom orders would bog down production somewhat, but seriously if they made "custom" bikes using off the shelf parts (pick your color, stem height, drivetrain, etc.) It would be more sustainable and I'd honestly pay an extra $500 or more for the service.
    As it stands currently I'll likely have to wait years and or buy a NOS one online somewhere (if I can find it).
    *Edit: Brompton UK just dropped Yuzu Lime as a color on their 6 Speed C line which is available with a color matched high stem. Now while I love the Turkish Green (teal) paint color the only Bromptons sold new in the US with that color have the black stem, if I had to chose between a Yuzu Lime High Bar with a color matched stem or a Turkish green (teal) High Bar with a black stem I'd go with Yuzu Lime. Here's to hoping they'll bring it to the US with their 3 speed hub and without lights.

    • @IverKnackerov
      @IverKnackerov ปีที่แล้ว

      So to fit your definition of sustainable, they have to manufacture and stock, a whole load of models that no one else wants to buy?

    • @MrLM002
      @MrLM002 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IverKnackerov Exactly the opposite. They already have the frames made and painted, they already have the components made and painted. they already have the drivetrains made, it's just a matter of putting X factory color frame, with X factory length stem, with X factory drivetrain the customer wants.
      Currently as it stands you have various frame colors completely unavailable for certain models because of arbitrary "lines" but the frames are the same. so why shouldn't you be able to buy a Turkish Teal 3 speed (for an extra custom fee) from the factory when literally the factory is like 'Eh, we just don't want to make this color frame available with this drivetrain.'
      I'm advocating that you can have Brompton take an off the shelf frame (in your preferred in production factory color for said frame), put in your preferred in production factory stem height (no color option), put in your preferred in production factory drivetrain, and TADA you have a bike someone wants where they don't have to literally remove otherwise new parts off a bike and trash them, and for a fee. Another advantage of this is you can see which colors are in demand and which ones are not instead of limiting color options to a given trim.
      I'm not asking them to run a custom paint shop, do custom mixing of painted components, custom 1 off drivetrains, etc. Literally just use existing parts and drivetrains for their regular bicycles (excluding the e-bikes due to possible software issues with different drivetrains).
