    I was having a hard time finding a saddle that worked for me on my Brompton, was broken hearted that I would have to sell it. But after watching this video I thought I would give that saddle a try. And it has worked great! Even though I don't have a CPTR3 I am very grateful for your video. Thank you very much!

    How times change. In the 1990s, the cheapest Brompton didn't have mudguards. These days the most expensive Brompton is the one that doesn't get mudguards.
    While I'm sure I would love one, I would be terrified of using it and scratching it because it is a work of art. The gloss paint will look great, but it does scratch easily (but I suppose paint is easier to touch up compared to power coating on standard bikes).
    I guess the only way I would be happy with the CHPT3 would be to get two - one to ride and one to mount on the wall.

    The V4 is the best riding current Brompton you can buy , although its a heavier than the T line.
    Its frame and hinges, unlike the T line, are super solid and quiet.
    Until the next improved T line comes out , this is still the best riding Brompton you can buy.

      Pretty much. Really don't like the way Brompton have been going for some years now and it's getting worse tbh. They need a clean out at the top and new management who'll work on improving the actual bikes instead of wasting their time on these blatant cash grabs with dubious partners like CHPT3 and David Millar.

      The Pline is Bromptons best bike ever hands down for the money. No need to spend 5 grand on a TLine. The Pline is as good as its gonna get for sub 3 grand from Brompton. The only thing that needs doing is a 21 tooth cog on gear 1 and you are good to go..

    As a Dane I had absolutely no idea what "CHPT3" was (A Br. commercial for a local English Brand of some kind, I later found out?), but I like the red front. But when I bought my new Flame Painted, 6 gear, Golden Superlight in 2019, just before Brexit, in Copenhagen, it already had a titanium fork and - back and - now also a black T seat post (It's a Black Version). With slightly modified mudguards (it already had titanium stays) and room for some less weight/parts in Spring, which I have ready, I expect it to come below 9 kilo at least, even with ordinary S wheels, without Tubolito. I may change if I have a puncture at a time? 😄 Finn. Denmark

    • @b.griffin317
      @b.griffin317 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are S wheels? 🤔
      The lightest tires AFAIK that are also good for punctures are the Continental Contact Urban. Obviously you can get a very light Brompton but after a certain point you are just loosing practical functionality and not just lightening it up.

    • @platypushatstand
      @platypushatstand ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@b.griffin317 S wheels refer to Superlight front wheels fitted to bikes previously named with an ‘X’ in their name, eg: S6L-X, H2R-X etc. Which Brompton logically changed to ‘P’ (logically = my sarcasm) the line name changes are confusing and stupid IMO.

      @@b.griffin317 "Superlight", original wheels. And I have a Carbon handlebar to replace the original M and a black, original, security type, titanium seat post, on my bike. I have changed brake parts, nuts and bolts to titanium and have new clamps for my mudguards (original titanium stays), which are considerably lighter than the original from "Heavy Metal"! Nothing special and not like the original bike, so its function is just like an "original bike" just somewhat lighter. Also a titanium axle for the front wheel and round locking wheels with a security bolt, to lock and unlock the frame during use. I'm not able to totally unscrew and loose those, as originally! For now my bike is down to just over 9 kilo, and I hardly find it worth the money to buy a T line (with mudguards), and with only 4 gears, from my 6. Finn. Denmark

    I have this Chpt3 and it’s awesome. The pictures don’t do the colour justice. You’re basically paying an extra couple of hundred pounds for a P-line with better saddle, grips, tubes, custom paint job, ‘exclusive’ frame bag and no mudguards. Up to you if you think it’s worth it. Personally I’m not a fan of the glittery finish on the P-lines, so it definitely was.
    FYI, I purchased a set of mudguards from Brilliant Bikes for it, but the front mudguard does not come with the nut and bolt to secure it to the front forks. They said they would try and find one and get back to me, but never did. You’ll have to try and source one somewhere else.

    I wish they would make a single speed brompton with a flip flop hub like a fixed gear it would be very easy and fast to fix a flat on the road. Right now I use a citizen milan and retrospect judd because those are single speeds,I do not trust the durability of the coaster brake on the judd tho wish it had a caliper brake like the citizen.

Given their prowess for technical innovation and high quality manufacturing I'm sure they could improve on the basic concept to produce a superior product and be successful in this field too.

    I've been riding this bike for about a month th-cam.com/users/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.

      they have no interest in fixing problems like these or the fact you can't change the power settings from the handle bars like pretty much 99% of other e-bikes. Or the poor issue prone derailleur system or the completely bodged 6 speed dual derailleur and hub system because they won't invest in a 6 speed hub. Instead of solving long running basic issues we just get them investing money in more colours or money grabs like this CHPT3.

      In the New York video some bikes have a teal/blue suspension block. Looks like it was dropped for production. And there is a CHPT 3 racer that has flashes of blue at seat post/bars.

      @brilliantbikes any inside info on the dropping of the teal suspension block?

      I did notice that on the NY vid. Would have made sense with that I guess.
      I just don’t understand the sudden deviation from tradition.

    What a waste of time and resources for Brompton. Instead of these silly "editions" and shovelling even more money to David Millar they should be improving their existing range and making their bikes more affordable for us mere mortals.

      The joke is on us sadly. Still the 40 year old inner city trustafarian man children will happily snap this bike up at £3k a pop, you know the ones who still go round wearing the same skater gear they did when they were 16. They'll pay anything to pretend they are still hip and cool. It's so sad that all us regular Brommie owners want are better more affordable bikes but we get crap like this instead.

      @@gibbson130ow, would you like some more salt on those chips? I'm 47, ride a V3 Chpt3, and still wear edgy stuff like trainers and hoodies. I've also got an M6L electric too, for when I can't be arsed.
      I'm glad I conform loosely to a type that seems to bother you so much. Justifies the £2250 I dropped on the V3 in Jan '21... especially as my previous two Bromptons just wouldn't have caused the same irritation.
      Nonetheless, Brompton are masters at ignoring obvious design improvements. The M6L electric is an abysmal bit of design that really shouldn't have left prototype stage. But... they've been this way for years - my 2014 S2E had a steel headset FFS!!
      Anyway, you keep on hating those that choose to dress or ride a certain way... irrational bitterness is such an endearing thing.

      @@gibbson130 cheer up & buy yourself a A line, or is that too expensive too? Unfortunately, it's very rare things come down in price, but how is what other people do, or buy mean anything to you? I'm sure we'd all like a T line at £500 but it's not going to happen, instead of numerous comments (just on this thread), slagging off Brompton on Brilliant Bikes Brilliant Videos page, e-mail Brompton direct.
      Ps I had a chopper when I was a teen, skater boys weren't in existence, your understanding of people & demographics is completely wrong
