everyone is talking about the voices but can we all appreciate the sound effect itself? It feels so powerful that it gives me the shivers I especially like the last moment of the pre-cast sound, like a hyper-fast beating heart... It feels so strong that you can almost touch the force.

Gosh I absolutely love how Barbarian Rage is done in this game, from the ground shattering beneath your feet to the battle cry as your character rouses their temper and fury.
A literal force of nature, my Barbarian Dragonborn is one such beasts. I like how Raphael comments on my Dragonborn saying it looks like my race and such only to say “It speaks like a beast” 😂 like, no shit, he is.
Wait I did not realize durge had a unique rage sound. My first playthrough was durge and I went oathbreaker/berserker. Screaming was always SO satisfying. That voice NAILED it
@@4Shaman Karlach as Rogue is extremely funny too. She has all these lines about how she's not made for stealth and I'm like, "girl, you're a rogue now, get over it." Honour Mode is a blast respecing them into the most unfitting classes. Paladin Astarion still hasn't broken his oath somehow. I don't play him honourably at all, but somehow the oath still holds lol.
For the record: when the characters enter their rage... the Axe teleports from their left hand to their right. You can no longer un-see this. You're welcome.
For anyone whose reading this: barbarian/rogue is a VERY viable multiclass, and the Dark Justiciar armour is a medium armour, which barbs can wear. Something to consider if you respec Astarion and Shadowheart as barbarians! : D (Also, and as a morally righteous Zariel Tiefling, Karlach actually makes for a great Paladin)
V1 has the best overall set but v3 c will always be my favorite when something emotionally happens. The amount of anger panic or fear in it makes those moments better.
Props to the VA's and the devs to think ahead and props to the mad lad sitting thru all the characters, respecs, reloads, just to hear all the variations
Vicious Mockery next please! I think there are probably too many to include all of them but at least a few samples would be nice. Im curious to the origin characters using it mostly.
went looking for the voice lines for spells and found your channel - i adore your work so much. this kind of archival stuff is so wonderful, especially for sound design oh i love it
S+ tier: Voice 1. The first one I ever heard when Barb came out in EA, and it's still my absolute favorite of them all. S tier: Shadowheart, voice 4. These will be my go-to's for any future playthroughs with a female barbarian A tier: Karlach, Astarion, voice 6, voice 2. Respectable performances overall, at worst I'd say there's only one scream from each that aren't too fantastic. B tier: Voice 5, Lae'zel. Not great, not terrible, wouldn't be outright opposed to playing these as barbarians, but I'd still prefer some of the higher tier ones. C tier: Voice 3, voice 7, voice 8, Wyll. Not too fond of these tbh, I can tell they tried but they're either too short, too quiet, or just straight up sound goofy. D tier: Gale. Just stick to spellcasting, man...
How interesting! My S+ tier is voice 3 by far, that rage sound like an emotional rage I feel like my character is really getting angry and not casting rage, S tier is voice 7 a calm rage something I can see a barbarian chieftain with high wisdom doing, and C tier for voice 1 all of the screams sound the same it's like he's casting rage and not really getting angry. That proves that larian nailed those screams.
Coming back here to comment: Minthara has THE BEST RAGE ROAR I've heard in this game. Can't find any audio clip online, but everyone should check it out. Definitely belongs in this awesome video. Thanks for your work

They're out on TH-cam now. Minthara is THE BEST, Jaheira can actually sound pretty scary, Minsc has one where he laughs during it, sometimes Halsin's doesn't trigger but when it does it's crazy feral and you can tell her runs around in bear form.

As a regular Karlach user, there are quite a few screams that are really cool but there is something comforting about the OG barbarian mama K's cries.
Theres a E option for voice 3 that didn't show up and its my favourite one. Its the one screamed in the barbarian trailer.
