Hi I'm Paul and welcome to our 15 boat ( but maybe 19)boat dinghy cruise around South Moreton Bay in Queensland. A 10 hour drive north for the Sydney Raiders. We saw whales, dugongs and dolphins and met some fantastic people. This is what I love about dinghy cruising. Thanks for watching, please hit that like button, subscribe or leave a comment....I will reply and also watch part 2 for even more fun, thanks.
I'm glad you liked it. I think the laughs and messing are what make my videos different...and I like a good laugh it's good for the soul and some people just take sailing too seriously. Thanks again for leaving a comment, cheers Paul.... PT 2 out on Saturday our time.
Hi, well he was only joking. Nobody likes killing whales but unfortunately some nations don't see it that way. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul.....don't miss part 2 next week.
my pleasure thanks again for watching...they do have a strong group up there but they have great weather and are surrounded by islands, so why wouldn't you go sailing, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul! I'm living vicariously with your videos while , hopefully, nearing the end of numerous life interventions which have interrupted the refurbishment of Shirley Valentine. With any luck I'll be back on the water before too long! Cheers, Pete
Well done again Paul ! Great cruising gound, further South toward Gold coast is good as well, Good to see the Sydney crew making the trip up North. If we weren`t away we would have been there, but back home now and ready for more sailing adventures. See you somewhere on the water real soon.
Thanks Phil, it seemed like a hell of a long drive to me but nothing compared to what you guys have done. I'm going to myall lakes on the 19th for a few days ...call me, cheers Paul
Well it took about 5 days, as I shot so much stuff and 4 others shared their footage with me, which always make the videos look better. Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul you've out done yourself yet again fabulous sail looking forward to part 2. Bit weatherry here enjoying our second hurricane in as many weeks actually evacuated for this one 125 to 155 mile per hrs winds a bit much.
Hi Dave yes we have been following it on our news here in Oz. It looks very scary, I don't know how people can live in Hurricane alley, it seems to be the same every year. I believe a lot of infrastructure still hasn't been replaced from Katrina and that was 20 years ago. Stay safe, cheers Paul
Thanks Steve. It was a very long trip to get there. I got new car brakes and trailer bearings are always a worry on such a long drive, but Neptune looked after us. Our group has sailed together for a while and the guys are getting used to having a camera stuck in their faces. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Well it was getting warmer here but over the last few days I had the get the woolies out again. Thanks again for watching and part 2 is out on Saturday morning ...our time, cheers Paul
Paul, what a delightful video! I feel like you really captured the feeling of the first day - so much fun and laughter! Thanks so much @sailingkatelouise
Paul, can't wait to see more of the Red Stornaway - looks marvelous - any chance your hull might change color? Not that it has to but the "shape/lines" are so much more noticable. Great job with the footage and fellowship, thanks Paul - Happy Spring to you all!
@@robkunzig5795 Thanks Rob yes she's a real beauty. I don't know if you noticed but her cabin is 1ft longer so the cockpit is slightly shorter and all her lines come back to the cockpit a nice variation. Pt 2 out on Saturday, cheers Paul
Paul the great thing about getting together with others is seeing their ideas and creations! We all are better for it and likely what we or others might learn, might save us in one way or another. I'm having trouble waiting for part 2, can you tell?
Well edited video as usual Paul. Nice to see the deep north. The 'aber' name of the Vivier boat is a Breton word meaning inlet or river mouth. It's the same in Cornish and Welsh. Inver is the Goidelic cognate (Irish / Scots Gaelic). Pronounced Abb-erh in Cornish n Welsh. May see you on a raid after Xmas with one of the rarer Welsfords
Some great sailing there, always in sight of land but the winds can get pretty strong. Also a big fetch so it can get choppy. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Thx for sharing the raid. Who makes the map book shown around 8:00 mins in and do they make them for the USA? I checked out Afloat in a Wooden Boat Sailing's channel and latest video...very nice boats! Just finished your video...very well done! Looks like some great friends, boats, and memories! I'm heading to the coast for what will probably be the final sail of the season on my Alcort Sunfish. Weather prediction looks pretty good! Around 70 degrees F and winds 10 to 15. Looking forward to next weeks video!
The charts book is called 'Beacon to Beacon' cruising Queensland waters but I have no idea if they make a US version. Send me a photo of you boat when you hit the water fair winds, cheers Paul
fantastic ,but hey! you've heard it before LOL Point of interest. That Vivier "aber"? The Bretons,in France are Celtic and,as in Welsh, "aber" means the mouth of a river. Its used as a pro noun "Aberystwyth" in Wales means the mouth of the ystwyth river.
Next year I retire and the plan is to buy a Waarschip 570. 18 ft and a bit, wood. Plenty info and pics on the internet. Loads of people with Dutch roots in Australia. I wonder if you , or one of your mates, have spotted them down there.
Thanks mate.....it was 26c up in Queensland where we were but back here in Sydney 950kms south still a bit chilly at night. Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
It's the Marine code 'R' and as the groups is called Raid Sydney we have adopted the R flag as ours. It's also the regional flag for Scone in the northern part of Sweden ...once an independent country. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
