- Wow ! I was so excited to get this knife . If you watch this un-boxing \ first impressions, all the way through, you'll see my reaction turn.. I went from happy to disappointed in a matter of seconds.. The Carter is a beautiful knife but it has flaws..
Even after all that, I still love this knife. I just hope that The James Brand listens to their customers and fixes these issues. They're so close to having a perfect knife. I know you guys probably think I've been harsh here but I'll still be supporting these guys, I just refuse to sugar-coat a review when it's obvious the knife could be a tiny bit better. Still, i'm a massive fan of what TJB. For such a young company, they sure are kicking goals ...

The sound can tell you so much thou and this knife sounds like crap . I looked great but was very cheap feeling . I never carried it and the clip and blade got scratched . Not a good knife mate .

Another GREAT video mate! Keep on rocking brother you've me wanting to pick up more knives and multi tools! and make more videos. That's my complaint with NOMAD they say you can head to their website if you want free stickers but they try to sting you 24.99 USD for shipping. Sounds like this knife is very good lookin' but not functional. lol

Yeah I hate the conversion rate and postage . It can really be a big deterrent from buying certain things . With the conversion rate and postage this knife cost me $260 . Sold it for $220 . Wasn’t a good buy at all . You win some you lose some .. 😔

Sorry man, can’t agree there. The James Brand is premium industrial design, Civivi is Chinese bulk product. To be disappointed about the sound… think you should buy a fidget toy, a knife is a knife, not used for listening to 😅👍🏼 But I respect your personal feelings about the feeling… loving stickers. I’m gonna buy it just because you like Chinese more than American 🥳😉😂
This knife is designed in America but made in china . It feels like a cheap knife but looks amazing . Not something I’d recommend to anyone . For this kinda money just buy a Benchmade mini bugout . Thanks for stopping by … 💪🏼
I have both knives. I grabbed the civivi after watching this video. Ive never seen a man so satisfied from flipping a knife. The carter is miles lighter, both are sharp as, pocket clipper on the carter is a bit meatier. If i had to carry one to cut stuff and not notice it in my pocket - the carter. If i had to pick one to fiddle with - elementum
Both great knives . I love the design of the Carter . It’s gotta be one of the nicest designs I’ve ever seen in the knife game . The elementum is pure class . I got the button lock version too . Once you pick it up , you can’t put it down . So good
I bought the "james" because of your video.. It is my favorite PK.. Its so smooth.. I agree the sound isnt the best when I open it though.. Like you said,., Keep up the good work broth
I actually sold mine but it’s such a beautiful knife , I really miss it . The other day I was thinking ; I need something else from James brand . I think I’ll go back to the Carter one day .. thanks for the support mate , it’s appreciated ..

I actually took the clip and the lanyard holder off . So much more comfortable . Your left with 2 holes where the screws to the clip go, I got some paracord and made my own lanyard . It’s very comfortable now . Still doesn’t have the snap of the Civivi but what does , right . 😂 love the Civivi Elementum .

Haha I watched this because I recently lost mine and had to order a new one. Decided to see what the reviews sound like because I shopped around and didn't find anything new that I liked. I was super disappointed when I read the summary below your title. I was legit worried wondering what you didn't like. The spring opening? Hahaha man. That's awesome. Not a big deal to me. Thanks for the great comment . The reason I was harsh in this knife was it cost $250 and felt like a $50 knife . When you handle a lot of knives you notice things . Now , this knife is good looking , maybe if they made it in America using better steel for the blade it’d be worth that $250 price tag . If you’re looking for a good knife , try the new Knafs Lander by Ben Peterson. You’ll love it . 💪🏼
@@OGtalks Haha fair enough! I kinda forgot you dropped $250. That's a lot m8. I paid $150 in the US and that's around my cut off for a knife of this (relatively low) quality with a design I really like. If my cost was $250, I would definitely look elsewhere for a higher quality knife and blade. I appreciate the advice and I'll definitely go check out the Knafs Lander. Cheers.
I’m really rooting for the James brand . I think they’re still a pretty small operation . I really wish them the best of luck . I’ve seen them make some cool stuff but I wouldn’t buy it unless I could feel it first . In saying that , it’s hard to touch something when it’s not in shops and it’s on another continent . Like I said , I’d love to see them win ; they have amazing designs , that’s for sure .
Thank you for this useful and honest review. I'm thinking about having this knife in my collection but still my most favorite EDC is my Benchmade Osborne 940 with green and black finish love the lock sound when you open it. BTW it was great review
Thank you mate . I wanted to like this knife but it just wasn’t for me . This knife doesn’t even come close to a Benchmade Osbourne . The Osbourne is perfect in every single way . There’s a reason so many people love that knife . The Carter looks good but just under delivers . It’s why you don’t see it in many peoples collections . @@amirfallah8570 😂. Mate , you will love that knife . I’ve had 4 of them so far . Gave one to a friend , sold another and then did a completion on here and gave another away as 1st prize . It’s such a special knife , I’m currently thinking I should buy the WE knife premium version ? Maybe in a few months , I have to slow down a little or I might be in trouble . 😂 so many great budget options but the elementum and baby banter are both kings ! 💪🏼

I got a copper elementum I’m probably going to sell to get another scale type. I really want them to come out with a elementum with a little better steel.
My first elementum was a micarta one . Gave it away in a giveaway and got a g10 one . Feels a bit cheaper now ? I think we forget sometimes that it’s a budget knife . Compared to my other knives I do see the whole you get what you pay for thing ... I love your idea though . Maybe doing a premo version with better steel and grips would be a good idea . I’d buy one ! 😂😂✌🏼✌🏼
@@OGtalks I’d definitely buy one too. But I just picked up a real steel control in carbon fiber/titanium with s35vn so imma hang out for a little. I’m enjoying this and I have big hands so it’s nice having something that’s bigger but still light. Also got a fully serrated spyderco salt Atlantic on the way in the new green. Well it’s preordered. So I’ll sit back a couple months, maybe. Lol
Yeah I got huge mits too . 😂 mate I still don’t have a spyderco in my collection . I just watched the Spyderco new knives on BladeHQ . I was actually drooling over the salt ones . I see one on the channel real soon . As for slowing down the collection ? I just don’t see it ... 😂😂😂
@@OGtalks I have a para 3 in od green with s35vn and I absolutely love the knife. Super nice, comfortable, flat grind is extremely nice to cut with. And the spydey hole and access lock is very fidget friendly. Highly recommend.
Do you have the exact model number and other details of your Civivi, and which shop/website has it? Is that the best value Civivi or are there other one's you recommend out there for New Zealand / Australia based buyers?
I’m pretty sure a Civivi is just a Civivi . Mine is the micarta grey scales . I did see on eBay they had 6 for sale with the plain black scales . $108 , free postage .

@@OGtalks nothing wrong with that, I was blessed enough to get the Damascus version for my birthday and I had to get another because I didn’t want to mess it up. It’s too beautiful.
@@Ark_Medic the worst thing about the elementum is taking it out of the rotation . 😂 I seriously can’t go a week without it in my pocket . I had the bugout for a few weeks but had to go back to the Civivi . The fidget factor is too good . It drives the missus crazy thou . 😂

Baïkal Wood they both have their charms but once you get used to opening and closing the bugout , there’s something magical about it ..the Civivi is also satisfying at half the price .

@@OGtalks Thanks! I plan on getting a bugout when it comes back in stock. I wanted to get a Micarta knife that is a little dressier for those occasions so ended up almost getting the carter. I’m still looking for a classy micarta knife but now considering a kizer, big mouse, or maybe a civivi instead.
If you want a kizer . I can’t recommend the Feist enough . I don’t like the standard ones thou . The micarta ones are amazing , very classy . Anything in micarta , even elementums are nice . 👌🏼

@@Snek03 the size of the kizer ? It’s not very big but that’s beauty , you don’t notice it in your pocket at all , same as the bugout and Griptilian . The elementum weighs more off-course so you do notice it more . If you need any halp , just ask , if I can help , I will . ✌🏼
