  • This project is a 12-string electric guitar with a slightly crazy construction for the body! This episode shows how I stained the body, using Crimson Guitars Stunning Stains (the water-based ones).
Since the guitar is unusual in so many ways, I decided to make the stain a more familiar aspect of the build and so I went for a kind of cherry burst. I used yellow, orange and crimson on the front, and just the orange and crimson on the back.
This is the last of the episodes on the build of this guitar, since the videos focus solely on the unusual aspects of the build. I will publish one last video showing the finished instrument when it's done!

Put a sealer on the sides before staining the top and back, then tape.

The wood in the back is so awesome!!! If it was me I would've used for the front....

Thanks for your comment, so am I! I've never even played a 12-string before so it's going to be interesting. I should finish the guitar this month (September).

Has Ben Crowe seen the vids on this build? I'm sure he'd be impressed with the design. Very good job :-)

Thank you! I doubt that Ben has seen it, although I took it to show John Ambler (of Ambler Custom Guitars) when I did a course with him recently, and he seemed to like it.
