So this is direct conversion receiver as mentioned in the video. I have always heard that direct conversion is inferior compared to superhet receivers due to intermod rejection and bandpass. Is this false? I'm surprised that this is a direct conversion receiver. Does icom now use direct conversion for their commercial transceivers?
This is a replacement for the IC-T70A sadly they reduce the memory from 302 channels to 208 channels. I do not think this could go head to head with the Yaesu FT-65 or FT-4X especially with the price range.
Adjacent channel selectivity: 55 dB (FM, 25 kHz), 50 dB (FM Narrow, 12.5 kHz) - very disappointed indeed, but why do they have to come up with wideband and then have receivers with poor performance? Direct conversion?? but wasn't superheterodyne better?
I love your presentation on this radio I love this radio I wish it had two separate bands showing on the display with dual s m
Thank you so much for walking us through this radio I subscribe to your channel you're awesome guy thank you❤
Thanks Joe for your kind comments
Accessories for this radio are common to the F1000 range. Brilliant. I can't wait.
I was hoping for heterodyne receive & a BNC connector on this Icom for the price.

IP-67 makes it better than 65 or the 4x. Same FM and WX capability and a 1/2 watt louder audio, so I think your comment is wrong.
Would be a great outdoor handheld radio for me if it had USB-C charging.
Would be great handheld radio if it had bnc connector and super het, not direct conversion
I want this one
What settings do i change? On UHF i cannot transmit, but the radio receives it. When i press PTT, it shows "OFF". Any help would be appreciated.
It sounds like you are transmitting out of band.
@@Icom_UK but i can receive transmission from the other radio (different maker)
As a responsible manufacturer, our radios are only sold in the UK to cover the frequencies allowed by its type approval.
Does it has PTT id or MDC1200 include ?
No, it doesn't...this is primarily an Amateur radio model.

Will it do split for satalites
No it doesnt
It looks like an IC-V88 with UHF capability.
$239.00 USD
Not dual display
Direct Conversion = same as a bofeng.... UGH
Seriously? It's over priced then. If its a radio on a chip then the mars mod will be a code and not a diode. May as well get a tyt for $70
@@Johnyrocket70 yes...I'm VERY surprised that they are using direct conversion. Oh well
What for?
So we can stop supporting the Communist Chinese Party.
Chinese technology in a icom. Get 3 waterproof Chinese radios for the price of 1. You let a Chinese made Wouxon Radio out do you.
Drop those 3 chinese radios in water and get back to me.
