Was my first car. Had a 1973 128. Slightly browner color. Great sporty little car. Transverse mounted 1.3 litre engine was new in the segment. The sound of it was wonderful. Almost like an expensive Italian model. Clutch was smooth, ton's of space and handled easily in a Canadian winter. I don't really know what eventually happened with FIAT. They lost a lot of integrity and sales dropped badly in later years. But as my very first car, I thought it was terrific

Thank you. My father had a FIAT 128 wagon from 1974. I remember the internal details by memory. It was great looking at your photos - so much nostalgia!!! I also remember the engine, unequal-length drive shafts, rack-and-pinion steering, etc.

Veramente la prima serie era diverso...questo e pressapoco come quello della 132...

@@alfr51 Confermo.. Era la mia macchina, uguale sputata ma con colore 456. Si tratta della seconda serie prodotta dal 1972 al 1974, perché dal 1974 in poi subì alcune lievi modifiche poiché si aggiunse la special ed il motore 1300 prima appannaggio della sola Rally. Per questo fatto le versioni normali dal 1974 ebbero delle lievi varianti, ma proprio lievi, come la soppressione del pulsante di dx per l'accensione delle luci del cruscotto. Il pulsante di sx venne fatto a tre posizioni e pecetta in quello di dx. Inoltre appare sul bordo del baule l'indicazione della cilindrata 1100 o 1300. Il tachimetro passa da un max di 160 a 170. Per la meccanica altre varianti come l'adozione di un carburatore ad una sola vite detto vitone per via della normativa.
