creativeorstrange we LOVE the C500ii, but honestly, the ARRI will blow it out of the water. The color and the dynamic range will be much better with the Alexa LF, and I would imagine the resolving power will also be better. Still, I’d watch that video for sure.

@@creativeorstrange I wouldn't say that the alexas are "vastly" superior to the C500ii, but I would say they are superior. The sensory produces a nicer looking image (IMO). This is mostly due to the way it handles highlight information and color. So, to answer that part of your question...I think they are better, but not by a crazy amount. - To answer the other question, yes. We are going to be putting out more C500ii content. The next one will likely be a look at the menus...Long, boring, but useful. Then we do an easier to watch one on the crop sizes. I think that one will be eye opening for people who really don't understand what a crop really does. - Lastly, thank you for the like, and thanks for watching our video(s).

As always, Armando being very smart with his camera purchases. Although Arri Alexa and Red are great for filmmaking, the Canon C500 MKII is perfect for high-end TH-cam content creation. You can keep this camera for a very long time and easily get your moneys worth out of this camera. Congrats on your purchase, now go out and shoot another short film!! LOL

Hey Armando, I don't think your comments about the C500ii being smaller are accurate. C200 specs list a longer body, but I'm pretty sure that's because they're also measuring the EVF. Below are the dimensions from Canon, the c200b (without handgrip) is smaller than the c500 ii in every way: C200B - (WxHxD) Approx. 5.7 x 5.7 x 5.4 in. (144 x 146 x 137mm) C500 ii - (WxHxD) Approx. 6.0 x 5.8 x 6.6 in. (153 x 148 x 168mm) I'm guessing Canon allowed the battery to protrude because people will most likely be using BP-A60s, which stick out regardless, so getting he BP-A30 flush was a pretty low priority.
rob norton it also works really well with a V-Mount run in through the 4 pin xlr from a d-tap. So if you have rails and a V-Mount, the shorter body makes for a more compact full system.
Nice! I know Patato Jet has done a head to head of this cam with an EOS-R but I'd love to see a head to head comparison of this came with the BMPCC 4k and 6K ...would love to see how much better is the 4k against the BMPCC's ..

Chan Aung there are a few videos out there, doing just that. We have one on our channel if you are interested. Also, I’m sure he will make one of those in the near future. - let me tell you though, if you are stepping up to the C500ii from the C200 the transition will be very easy, and the resulting image will be fantastic! It’s a great camera.
A big draw for cameras such as this, is that they dont need to be rigged out like the bmcc 6k which doesnt translate into video footage, but usability and bringing it places. Take for example, Armando's rig for the bmpcc6k, theres an external follow focus, he Jerry rigged v mount batteries to a third party cage. Etc. And once you do all that, you still cant operate it as a single user who is also in front of the camera for interviews etc.

Can you do a EOS R C-Log 10bit versus X-T4 F-Log test and comparison against the 2 cameras. I feel this is directly in line with each other. Also include the speedboosted 4K on EOS -R and a Speedboosted 4k with Fujifilm using adapter.

Archie Pina it works with lenses that have AF electronics. For example, the Zeiss Otus lenses are all manual lenses and they work which are actually one of my favorite lenses.
09:43 Armando, the Canon C500 MK II PL Mount pin connector is an active connector with the support for the Cooke/i protocol enabling C500 MKII to automatically record key lens data for every frame shot and provide it to post-production teams digitally. [EDIT] In addition, it should be routing the 12V power from the pins base of C500 MKII trough the PL mount to the PL lense with the Cooke/i technology and that should be also giving the power to operate the zoom rocker. For the last, I will believe it once it is tested because, at least for me, there is no documentation available describing the pins allocation and the circuits and voltage information.
Looking forward to seeing your upcoming vids on this camera. I’d love to see a dynamic range test between this and the mini lf. The only downer I’ve seen so far for the 500mk2 is that Canon has taken away the interval recording mode for time lapse. This makes no sense to me as it’s available in their cheaper lines like the c200 and c300! Cheers.
Ross Cooperthwaite we didn’t have the opportunity to verify that when we had the camera. Can I ask what you are using that feature for? If it is for proper time lapse, you may want to try using a still camera with RAW photos. The results, as long as you are dragging the shutter, are world better.
@@AnchorLineTV For sure; but when you just need a simple daylight TL without additional gear, its very convenient. I shoot a lot of commercial stuff involving architecture; so to show a simple daylight TL with clouds moving past the building or the sun path moving in an interior, having this simple TL feature built into the C500mk2 would be very convenient - I use it all the time in my C200. Pablo Szuster in our opinion it is, but I think it really depends on what you are doing with your camera. Full frame shooting is a totally different look, 6k is awesome if you are finishing in 4K and the internal codecs are not laughably bad. With that said, we love the c200 too.

Let me see if I can break them down and respond to each one: 1) The Alexa Mini is THE camera because the sensor is amazing without having to be super pixel dense. Arri currently makes the best digital motion picture camera sensors in my opinion. When people start using the Mini LF more, I'm sure that will become the next IT camera. 2) I don't think resolution is a marketing strategy. I think it is another tool. Some companies will use it well, and others will just use it to sell more cameras. The C500ii, seems to be in the former category. It takes more pixels and crushes them into a sharper 4k, downsampled image, or it allows anyone finishing in 4k or 2k to pan and scan the image. Both of these features of a 6k(ish) sensory are very useful. 3) You cannot get the same image from a APSC sensor as a full frame sensor. That is false. You can, approximate the same field of view (how much you can see) with the help of speed boosters, but the way that the sensors reads pixels is different. With that said, I like the larger sensor look, but you can make beautiful images even with a micro 4/3rd sensor. Really, you should use what works best for you.

The C500ii does true 24p and full 6k. Sony locked out 24p (only 23.98) and has said the camera will never do 6k. Still, it would be interesting to see a comparison of their 4k IQ.

Like the full cinema rig build you did with the c200, I'd love to see the c500 fully outfitted and compared to the Arri Alexa mini in real life shooting situations. On gimbles, stedicam, shoulder rig, indoors, outdoors etc. If it can hold up, the c500 can be the next indie cinema salvation.

This vs FX9 comparison? FX9 seems like a much much better overall package while C500 II looks like it suffers from the Canon cripple hammer again but I've not used any of them so would love to know your real use thoughts :)
@@mondobytes Finally it's all about preferences but for sure Fx9 or C500II wont make you a better dp but owning one of these will give you work for the next 5 years.
Sony has locked out 24p, and only allows 23.98 to "protect" their even higher end cameras. Sony has also said that the FX9 can never record or output 6k. I'm similarly cynical about Canon's love for the hammer, but in this one case, the roles seem to be reversed.
Am I the only one dissapointed on how simple the boxes are?, I mean what about a nice black box with some design on it? I mean you're spending 15,000!! On a camera.
That the BP-A30 doesn‘t fit plain to the body anymore is such a ridiculous design decision. Why on earth they did this when with the C200 the battery slot was absolutely fine?! 🤷🏻♂️

Like the full cinema rig build you did with the c200, I'd love to see the c500 fully outfitted and compared to the Arri Alexa mini in real life shooting situations. On gimbles, stedicam, shoulder rig, indoors, outdoors etc. If it can hold up, the c500 can be the next indie cinema salvation.
Hi Armando, I can recommend the eye piece for that camera it’s a life changing, making easier no depend always in the monitor, high quality lots controls , I film a documentary with that camera . Also Armando when you have a chance please send me the info for the red front cup, I appreciate

This vs FX9 comparison? FX9 seems like a much much better overall package while C500 II looks like it suffers from the Canon cripple hammer again but I've not used any of them so would love to know your real use thoughts :)
Nothing crippled on C500 I’d say the FX9 is more crippled, it doesn’t record in 6K or internal RAW.
@@mondobytes Finally it's all about preferences but for sure Fx9 or C500II wont make you a better dp but owning one of these will give you work for the next 5 years.
Sony has locked out 24p, and only allows 23.98 to "protect" their even higher end cameras. Sony has also said that the FX9 can never record or output 6k. I'm similarly cynical about Canon's love for the hammer, but in this one case, the roles seem to be reversed.

That the BP-A30 doesn‘t fit plain to the body anymore is such a ridiculous design decision. Why on earth they did this when with the C200 the battery slot was absolutely fine?! 🤷🏻♂️
