- This is the QIDI Vida, the lightest AR headset I have ever tried! They are meant for sports and you can currently back them on Kickstarter. I have received a preproduction unit and in this video I will tell you all about it!

Are you going to back it?
No. "Norm Glasses" also had trusted testers look at real world devices, but they're not delivering.
Side note: They claim they had all the sensors in place? GNSS is the very easiest one to integrate. As in easier than the microphone and battery level.
I'm going to buy these. Nothing is better than these right now.
I would definitely get sports glasses like this if they run clean and smoothly and don't restrict my vision and have polarization.

I would want something like this with a rear-view camera for cycling. And also you'd want to be able to have it be untinted riding at night.
As a cyclist I would appreciate having a reasonable replacement for my beloved Everysight Raptor AR glasses. They have been done a good job as a kind of an AR cycling computer capable of navigating and health status indicator and such. Unfortunately those glasses didn't last too long. The manufacturer meanwhile published a successor. Strangely, they removed the connectivity to ANT+ devices for this. So, I would now need the permanent connection to my smart phone and/or the head unit of my bike. Long story short: I need a better replacement - such as the promising device you're presenting here. The problem with the QIDI Vida as far as I can see is the battery life. I got so damn used to have an always on display in front of me during the entire ride, may it be an hour or 7. To be forced to switch it off and on all ride seems to be a little inconvenient. That's not exactly what I am looking for. Nonetheless it's a promising project. Especially the fairly low weight seems to be perfect for endurance cyclists. The number of built-in sensors is also quite impressive and should represent real added value for cyclists.
By the way, the best part of your video was to see good old Dortmund again (for personal reasons, not because the product review wouldn't have been as good. 😉). Definitely need to visit it again.
This is a really interesting comment! It makes me wonder if they could offer a battery pack in the form of a glasses neck cord.
I’m picturing a series of button batteries inside of a soft waterproof sheath that would attach to both arms.
Feels doable to me.

yes, no one has made a wfov headset since the 8kx that is affordable reasonably
Can I stream my phone to do like Apple Workouts and watch them with these glasses while exercising?
They look really good. Trackball a very good Idea. A push button is a good idea like Google cardboard had. Would be good if they did some basic AR

add a couple of cameras facing forwards and backwards on a bike and you could tuck your head down and still be aware of the road around you
Hello. What do you say in response to Qidi’s response to people bringing up your comment about the camera only being 1.2 MP?

I can just say the camera in this is bad. :)

It’s obviously never a given that any AR hardware will be functional, or that it’s form-factor will be desirable.
I suspect you did exactly what they hoped you would: Confirmed that the hardware is sound, that there are no loose ends, that it’s comfortable and doesn’t look especially dopey, and that it’s very competitively priced.
Obviously anyone intrigued by it will now be able to focus their investigations purely on the quality of the apps that become available.
Cool video! While this product doesn’t fit my current use-cases, it has left a positive first-impression of the hardware.

They'll be too dark for riding/ cycling with them at night.. just like you don't want to wear dark sunglasses at night driving for safety reasons.. the xreal air 2 pro have dimmable lenses (so can be clear at night and dark like sunglasses in the day) and better resolution and more at a similar price..
They do offer a variaty of interchangable lenses
I think at some point we are going to discover how dangerous these things are. You are in traffic, and you have constantly stuff in your field of view. Its going to be extremely distracting. Its totally different than occasionally looking down to see your speed meter etc.
I think , over time with newer versions and better technology, it could function like the helmet-mounted HUD of a military aircraft. It should be able to present information in a non-distracting way and could provide greater situational awareness, reducing danger.
I don’t think AR user interfaces are gonna stay like that forever, eventually it’ll know when you’re driving or walking and not be in your way lol this seems like an obvious design improvement that will just come with time I don’t think ppl will be crashing into each other because of a floating TH-cam window 😂
@@Hemebean There is no real traffic going on in the air... the huds on aircrafts are there to keep you orientated in 3D space.
@@Nobody-Nowhere That's true but we can see the benefits of, for example, a display that warns you about objects in your blindspot or that visually highlights cyclists in a badly lit area.
@@Hemebean Your eyes are always more efficient than cameras in low light, and these things have like 50 degree max FOV so its always in the dead center of your field of view.

Huh, packing the heart rate sensor on the nose pads doesn't seem like a very accurate place to read that data. Isn't that area mostly cartilage? How vascularized is it?
You probably would *NOT* want the display on all the time when running or doing any physical movement, really. That would be incredibly distracting and possibly dangerous. I would want information at a glance and only when prompted.
Think about how much your nose can bleed, or how in the cold it gets blushed.
There is plenty of vasculature there for something like this.

I just watched another reviewer video on TH-cam (Robin's Fun Playtime) two weeks ago (May 2024) that was doing voice commands, taking photos, recording video & navigation. Someone is lying 🤥 or user error. 😡

Why do they keep making this crap? 640 x 640 is step backwards.
And a step forward everywhere else, they just need a template to improve on in the future
All Waveguide optics ar glasses available are approx 640x480 / 640x640 & FOV up to 29 degrees. Only the Bird-bath type optics are getting better FOV 40-52 and up to 1920x1080
That is so ugly, I would never buy it, even though I do have a meta glasses which is much more useful to me
Will wait for AR glasses from Meta or Google.
