I have a one year old and she's a carbon copy of me. I used to not like many things about my face mainly my eyes, but not anymore. Her eyes are literally beautiful and she's the most precious little baby. It breaks my heart to think she might not like something about herself some day. Also, I realized that my mom would probably be heartbroken to know how much I don't like those things about myself. Self love and acceptance is IN in 2024!
ins: having a signature piece to wear with everything, put together an intentional outfit even if i’m just going to the doctor outs: comparisons, judgement to myself for my wacky fits
my fashion ins: more accessories! fun jewelry! big earrings! baggy clothes! outs: buying things from the thrift that you're not 100% sold on just b/c they're cheap, over consuming
also laini im so glad u clarified the copying vs taking inspiration... b/c i take sm inspiration from you like i unintentionally buy things bc of u... last year i bought onitsuka tigers (which i wear like almost every day i need to start branching out) and became obsessed with gingham and cute button cardigans and i think that's so laini but i also love them!!!! love ur channel happy new year
i completely agree with you on the stop hiding your flaws and people shouldnt all try to look the same. And smiles! I love people's natural smiles. Theyre so unique. I never had braces so my teeth arent perfect and i love it ❤
Laini, I would LOVE a video on how your thoughts related to fashion/beauty/style have changed since having Lucy!!! Your comment about flaws and imperfections made me wonder if you have any other thoughts that have changed as a mom:) 🫶🏼
I don't do ins/outs lists, but I do make a "more/less" list as I know myself and some habits I won't be able to lose completely over the year. But one is "less" saving cute clothes for a special occasion. Life is to short to not wear the clothes I like more often.
laini ur energy in this video is sooo precious ❤❤ literally my 2024 resolution was to go all out in fashion and was actually thinking about doing the skirt over pants thing but was hesitant but im doing itttt 🎉
I love the video and especially posture and not hiding your 'flaws'. Good posture makes everything so much better. And I love the things that make us unique and not a carbon copy. ❤
happy new year laini!! i love the dressing stupid point but more than stupid is like committing to the bit and to like a costume if that makes sense and that’s just so funnn like when we all dressed pink to go see barbie and we all were wearing our own barbie costume and we had fun!
Love this video! The sunglasses thing reminded me of a wonderful thing that was said to me by the owner of the pizza place near me. Because I would always wear gigantic vintage sunglasses, he nicknamed me "the lady who favors the past." Haha. I always felt like it was the best compliment.
You have given me such a new perspective on fashion! I've always tried to tone my outfits down out of fear that it was "too much", but now you've inspired me to go all the way with my outfits!
This was one of my favourite videos you made! I agree SOOO much with the hiding your flaws. I never had braces before and honestly I'm glad because it makes me more unique!
I used to dress wild and out there and it stressed me out because I always wanted people to notice my outfit and compliment it. They did, but I never felt great because of how much effort it took to put said outfits together. Now I dress plain and more put together and I love the way I look in the mirror. I get way less compliments (except from my dad who loves all my outfits) but I feel more confident and less stressed because it takes me half the time to get dressed than it used to and my clothes are far more comfortable and better fitting.
I agree with all of these and have been applying them for a while. So happy to see this video. Authenticity is my word of the year for 2024, and all of these help with that.
My forehead my hair and my teeth have always been my biggest insecurities. It feels nice to let some of that go and just be myself instead of hiding! Excellent video! ⭐️
Love this video so much and your take on the "what's gonna be in and out in fashion next year" - trend! Just a little thought on the dont copy thing: I think when people start exploring fashion and start trying new things copying others is a good start on finding out what you like. I remember me in high-school copying people I adored and it sure looked horrible sometimes but that's how I learned what I like and hate on me. When you are just starting out this whole layering and dressing something up or down can be a bit much so copying can help to get a foot in the door. That being sat I totally get your point and I always felt better in a fit I came up with myself than a copied look. Thank you so much for that input! This is exactly what I needed to hear after all these does and don'ts fashion trend videos spiraling in my feet
In: braids; no makeup; wool sweaters; gold jewelry fake or real Out: rules; big earrings; impractical shoes; copying ;) Love your thoughtful content! ❤
Please dont stop talking in vids ! Its interesting to hear others' opinions regardless of whether we agree. You have a great eye and way of phrasing things too
Well, you’re still young, but I have a widows peak, too, and I thought it was an asset. A beautiful girl like you shouldn’t worry about your forehead. I’m glad you’re pulling your hair back. For me, it was my arms, because they were toned, and everyone else’s (1960s) were not. I had abs, too.
Lol @ dressing stupid - the weird looks from strangers I think people can deal with with but the unfiltered comments from family who don't think before they speak is something else - "are you having a breakdown, what's happened, what are you wearing, are you trying to draw unnecessary attention to yourself, are you going to a funeral" 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Laini, so the first pic you showed in 2:30 is a brazilian influencer called Malu Borges, i think you love her very very extra and camp style. She always dresses as if she was attendig the MET
Laini- I love your videos and you have such a gentle nature to you. I agree about the "stop talking"! I get annoyed when there are 7 minutes of a video, that seems interesting, discussing my morning routine and what my "OOTD" is. Just get on with the video! I don't want to see you make your breakfast and your matcha with a special whisk (you only use for your videos)! So thank you for not doing that!!
Question for the people -- I was wearing a cropped sweatshirt to babysit my cousins (keep in mind it was completely appropriate). The three year old said, "Why are you wearing my brother's shirt?" His brother is 6. I said, "This is my shirt. I wore it in here. You saw me walk through the front door." And the three year old said back to me, "that shirt is too little for you." Does this mean I retire the shirt? I think yes, since he said it doesn't fit. If he said it wasn't long enough, then I'd think he just didn't understand the concept of cropped clothing. Please give insights.
As someone who works with kids, they will always say what they're thinking even if they don't know it sounds mean. I've learned that not everyone (especially children) will like/understand your outfits, and that's okay as long as YOU like your own outfit. When I get comments from kids like the one about the crop top I usually just respond with, "yeah? So?" Or "that's okay, I still like it" helps me a lot
I'm still thinking this over but I think one of my Ins might have to be shopping from retailers in addition to thrifting. I mostly thrifted with a few key purchases here and there (which I'm super proud of just realizing this) but I think I might have to start making concessions
Yes to all of this. We would all benefit from shutting up lol, most of us don't have anything worthy say (most of the time). Have fun, play around. As that iconic Project Runway proverb goes--lighten up, it's just fashion!! (th-cam.com/video/duVg6GNNnNs/w-d-xo.html).
out: saying "styled correctly" - sometimes an outfit looking bad makes it better and sometimes an outfit looks terrible even if its "correctly styled", i just dont understand why fashion people use that phrase when they themselves are actively trying to push boundaries and wear things that normal people might consider ugly

As a Brazilian girl, I love that you used Malu Borges as the first example of dressing stupid. She’s our queen of silly fashion ❤
I love that these are so BOLD but like so realistic! Totally agree!
absolutely obsessed w the energy of this video. overthinking ur outfit once you've left the house? definitely an out!!!

this made me feel better on how to approach things this year
this was such a fun video
Love this! Such a refreshing take, referring to the self and HOW we wear things rather than clothes and accessories themselves
I've been coming back to this video again and again for a confidence boost :)
I was so giggly while watching this! This was a sweet video.
i love BEING TOO MUCH it’s a nice pendulum swing from the whole quite luxury movement
Get dressed is #2 on my goals this year, no more sweats all day 🙃

I love this energy Laini!!! i want this for me too in this 2024
