I've also been in a no buy and it's amazing how quickly the desire comes for new pieces but it's even more wild how quickly it LEAVES. I've been keeping strict wishlists for a long time and forcing myself to think about something for a week or two is almost a guarantee that I won't end up buying it. That little hit of satisfaction of the hunt doesn't mean you have to purchase and consume! Also definitely feel you about getting rid of clothes and accessories.
I do the same. I have a Pinterest board called wishlist and the amount of things that I just remove from the list after I’ve forgotten about them after the initial thought is so large
Love it!@@victoria4 I actually have a section of my wishlist for "decided no's" where I archive all those things to remind myself that the desire will pass and that I need to think about my purchases haha
I do something like this when I thrift! I take a picture for "memories" LOL half the time I'm to lazy to come back to the store to get it if I'm still thinking about it or chances are it's gone already. Or on Facebook market place I save the item and literally forget about it haha
This kind of did crush me because you would look so cute in all the things you didn’t buy but it’s also because i am a second hand shopaholic I loved this video and have also been trying to be more aware and conscious of what I’m buying and why I’m buying it
I too have been trying to control my purchases. Since I thrift almost everything I own, I--like you--AM counting thrifted pieces. (I watched another youtuber who was not counting thrifted stuff.) I bought a couple of things in January before I made the decision to stop. But last week there was a t-shirt I wanted and I told myself, NO. I keep thinking about it and the pleasure I have gotten from not buying it far outweighs the pleasure I'd get from wearing it (bc I already have way too many clothes). So that feeling of being proud of myself is keeping me going.
something i'd love to see is a video of you bringing back some of your fave pieces that you haven't styled in a while that maybe aren't as trendy anymore! like the peachy den mimi bottoms or the pink leather jacket!
In december I donated about half of my closet and since then i've been so much more careful about what i but. I had "nothing to wear" because i hated all of my clothes and they were no longer trendy
YES, speak on the value of keeping something for a little longer instead of decluttering it as soon as you’re tired of it or it falls out of style!! I’m just learning this with purses and bags I bought years ago and just kept and kept and kept; suddenly they’ll have a little renaissance and I get another 20-30 wears on them after not using them for years. (Might be worth noting: buy or thrift genuine leather bags, buy leather conditioner, keep that bag forever.)
I love this video idea & would be happy to see it in future months!! My goal for this year is to only buy secondhand except for obvious exclusions like underwear. I've been pretty 50/50 with buying new vs. secondhand the past few years and I need to get back to the secondhand lifestyle. Not only is it better for the earth and my wallet, but its the best way to find interesting pieces. Fortunately I'm pretty good with impulses, I let things sit for at least 2 weeks before making a purchase. If something is bought by someone else, I almost feel satisfied because 1. I know that piece is going to a loving home, and 2. It wasn't meant to be mine. I'm holding strong so far!!
I’m moving to London from NYC this summer, permanently. And I’m planning on doing it just through baggage I can take on a flight. I’ve been making a capsule wardrobe out of my wardrobe and slowly been selling all the rest. I literally have 7 piles of clothes in my living room rn. I think I might try to just live in my capsule wardrobe for the rest of the year! It’s a great opportunity to try this
tbh… ask brandon to buy you clothes you want 😗 i NEEDED this video today!! lol. literally of all today i’ve been reflecting on my purchases in the past months, YEARS even, and i regret so many of my purchases because i bought them for instant gratification.. i don’t wear a lot of what i bought from depop, whatnot, thredup, etc. looking back, i only bought things because they were trendy, thought they were cute but wasn’t a part of my personal style, or like you said, it was on sale and i thought id never find something like it again bc its secondhand 😭 like some fashion lovers are doing now, i want to wait like a month before purchasing something - really think on it and see if i truly still like it, or come to the realization that i don’t need it LOL 😭 most times, i’ll realize i don’t need it. also i love how you mentioned not to get rid of your clothes right away just because you stop wearing them!! i’ve been thinking about too recently! i miss some of the clothes i donated bc i would so wear them now😢 really looking forward to this series laini! love your insight and im sure these videos will help many of us refrain from purchasing as well 🥲
I was doing a no buy 75, but I did buy 1 thing two weeks ago. It was really hot and I didn’t have anything under my sweater LMAO (I am not counting it because it was a need rather than a want lol) but something I noticed is that for the summer top I did buy, I really thought it through and what works w my wardrobe. I stopped doing the picture thing for everyday because I noticed I found myself repeating outfits and I was so happy to do so! I only took a pic if it was a new fit.
The throwing it to the back of your closet is soo true. We had a donation bag prepared for the longest time so I had forgotten about it, I tried a pair of jeans that i threw in there and I'm obsessed I just style them differently now
I also have a list of things that I didn’t buy! Maybe it’s finally the time for me to try a no buy! Loved this video Laini, thank you so much for all the inspiration ❤😊
I bought my campus frye boots resoled and they have amazing traction- would definitely recommend taking them to a cobbler! they really are a perfect boot
Great video as always Laini. Your honesty is always appreciated ❤ I think my shopping habits have slowed a lot in recent years, but i find myself slipping into old ways. Telling myself something is a "steal" is so dangerous lol. Also, being in canada, second hand shopping online can be incredibly expensive because of shipping costs and additional taxes, so i realised how much i was saving by using those sites sparingly. For now, im going to seek the items that have been on my list for literal years. I have so much that i hardly wear, so ill try and focus on that more.
Idk why but your love or just use of grey in your outfits is so cool I love the way you style it and wish I could incorporate it in my wardrobe more but it just doesn’t look good on me I think
I needed this! 😂 my carts are also full but I am also in a no buy season. I like going back and actually seeing if I still ❤ the piece or if it's gone it just wasn't meant to be...yet🤭✨
This was a really awesome video idea! I try to force myself to style what I already own because I have so much in my closet and really think twice about getting rid of pieces. Before I do, I try to work really hard to style them in a unique way, but I recently had to donate a couple because they no longer fit my chest😭 You are so close to 300k!!! You deserve it so much💖💖💖💖
Imma be honest this was the month I spent the most on stuff in my life 💀 but hear me out it's the first time I am able to buy myself stuff after gaining somewhat financial freedom for years. However, I'm still very careful with what I buy and so far I haven't regretted anything. And I'm in the process of redecorating my room so it's not just all the clothes I buy
I love you so much. And i loved this videos. I’m obsessed with hearing your voice saying things. Seriously. Love you girl. Ps: is the strawberry t being sold for latin american countries as well?
I keep all the clothes I want in my notes app and then if I forget about it after a month then I delete it off. If I remember then I purchase. I like to check off everything of my “donts” list. Like the color yellow or bell bottoms or square neck tops etc.
I thrift absolutely perfect condition slacks/trousers all the time! I just found the cutest low rise grey slacks for literally $7 I've been living in them since I got them
I have the chrome super puff (I got it on sale lol) and I’m absolutely obsessed with it!!! The silver is almost a neutral but super fun at the same time!!! I cannot recommend enough!!!!
I’ve been unknowingly doing the rule of five but every six months instead of a year. I was broke for a while and didn’t buy anything for a long time and then got some pieces for summer and recently for winter and actually it’s amazing how a couple of pieces can freshen up the whole wardrobe
I also have been on a no buy journey, and online shopping is so fun when all I usually do is find different things to add to my cart, and then leave the website or app 😭
I need this reinforcment. I have a Depop problem and since I'm not paying rent right now it's been hard to say no to myself. But, this year I'm really going to save.
i've been doing the 75 day hardstyle challenge and i'm ngl it's been sooo good for me because i can be a bit of a shopaholic BUT i couldnt say no to the new rick owens x docs collab 😭i've been waiting too long LOL
i need advice i feel like i cant wear the same outfits or after i get a photo taken of me and i post it i practically just need to throw the item out because then id feel weird posting something with the same shirt idk its a really bad expensive habit
A question for my fashion girlies! Who else do you subscribe to that’s similar to Laini? I love her vibe and I’m looking for similar fashion esque TH-camrs xx
Charles and Keith is really investing in their Pinterest marketing. I also get their posts constantly and I even thought about buying from them, but most of their shoes are fake leather PU and I wanted to buy leather shoes. :(
this is your sign not to buy from them lol. I fell into the temptation and the shoes ended up looking NOTHING like the pictures. then I tried to return and it was such a hassle (since it was shipped outside the US) that I ended up donating them
@@LainiOzarkomg i bought red ballet flats from them and they look exactly like they do online! i guess it’s a gamble what you get but this is the first time im hearing bad reviews about them
I love not buying anything because omg my closet is completely packed with clothes and all I do is work 😂😂😂 also jewelry shoes bags everything I could go like 5 years not buying anything and I would be fine
The pink and gray scarf made me curious, so I googled it. It says "made in the United States," "made in EEUU," "made in South Central," and "LOS ANGELES."

I think the only time we should be more conscious about our purchases is when buying things that have popped up because of trends/ micro trends and that’s when we should marinate and see if we actually like the trend or if we have just been influenced. I think the obsession that other creators have implemented in people is sort of an unhealthy way to approach abstinence from the things that genuinely make us happy. Idk, to me it’s just too hardcore. But that’s just my 2 cents. Love you Laini ❤️🫶
I get it! I knew bending the rules would throw some people off as well. For me it’s just about being more mindful with purchases, a lot of the times when I buy one thing I feel like I already caved and can buy more. This rule just gives me another step before over-consuming. Also with bending the rules, it’s better to at least try and make small changes instead of just giving up completely. I dont think this, or anything, has to be that black and white. Just because I’m not a minimalist doesn’t mean I can’t want to consume less, or just because I don’t only buy second hand doesn’t mean I should just give up and buy all new clothes! I really value showing my imperfect way of fashion online, I don’t try to fit a mold and just do my best.
I've also been in a no buy and it's amazing how quickly the desire comes for new pieces but it's even more wild how quickly it LEAVES. This is exactly what I do, and if I genuinely still want it, I buy it when I actually have the money
i keep buying things and keep calling them essentials and theyre the most niche ugly things ever
this is so real
u get it
I relate to this on a spiritual level
For the sake of my so-called "capsule" wardrobe 😂 🤦🏽♀️
🤣🤣🤣🤣
“I do have a bit of a buying second hand problem…” Me too girl! Me too 😉🤣
Every month plsss

I absolutely love this content, deinfluencing and encourage more concious buying is really what we need in this era of overconsumption
hii laini !! i would love if you made a video about "elevated basics", you mentioned that you love them and i do too :)
as soon as something is preorder or a limited drop or on a sale, ooof it’s hard to resist

I also have a list of things that I didn’t buy! Maybe it’s finally the time for me to try a no buy! Loved this video Laini, thank you so much for all the inspiration ❤😊

Hahaha not the first time I’ve gotten this!!!
i think there are accessories you can clip on and off for your heels! I've seen bow and flower ones on amazon

what do you think is the next trend sneaker after the onitsuka und samba?
The Abercrombie trousers feel amazing but they run long and slightly large in the waist, just in case you’re still thinking about them!
This reminds me of Hannah Louise Poston’s videos & it really helped me start a no buy year!

Congratulations on 300,000 subscribers, hope your channel continues to grow! 👊😏👍
I love you so much. And i loved this videos. I’m obsessed with hearing your voice saying things. Seriously. Love you girl.

I bought shoes on sale this December I’d been wanting since summer 22. The fact I still wanted them after 1,5 and now I looooovee them feels great.
I keep all the clothes I want in my notes app and then if I forget about it after a month then I delete it off. If I remember then I purchase. I like to check off everything of my “donts” list. Like the color yellow or bell bottoms or square neck tops etc.
Laini! I just immediately bought the peachy den trousers with your code 😅
Ooh, I have an iridescent purple puffer jacket that I bought on sale at Target, winter of 2022. It's cute.
Can I ask what camera you film with !
An INSANELY helpful video. Gracias.
OMG I just bought the heart earrings you put on the cover??
Girl the symbol for EUROS is literally an E...
Love this video idea ❤
I would love to see this type of video once a month❤
Love this! It's very motivating since I really want to do a no/low buy too
love deinfluencing content & would love to see these types of videos more!!! ❤
Look how disciplined you are hihi 😄 what kind of microphone do you use? Are you satisfied with it? I am currently looking for one for my videos. 💖
I’ve been unknowingly doing the rule of five but every six months instead of a year. I was broke for a while and didn’t buy anything for a long time and then got some pieces for summer and recently for winter and actually it’s amazing how a couple of pieces can freshen up the whole wardrobe

Stunnng job, Laini!

Happy 300k!!!
you should try repetto for the mules :)
there are a lot of clothes that i’m GLAD i got rid of. most of them actually! but i miss my Blondie tee :(
Try the Lululemon smooth fit pull on pant. Good swap for the flair legging
I set a maximum of 12 clothing items this year! 😁
I need this reinforcment. I have a Depop problem and since I'm not paying rent right now it's been hard to say no to myself. But, this year I'm really going to save.
yeyayyy early!!! i have been binge watching your vidss like a bible
So you’re really ONLY going to buy five pieces this year? I like the idea but it seems so hard! How will you decide?
this is so real continue these for sure
this is an amazing video idea
Absolutely love this
If you looking for a grey trousers you need to look at cos they supposed to be the perfect one
Yes girl de-influence me! I really don’t need to overconsume rn

Haha! My loafers are also little boys for the same reason. The more pointy-ish toe silhouette screams grandma to me...
my goal this year is to buy not more than one peace of clothing every month. So not rule of five but rule of 12 for me this year 😊
I love it!!!

Do not, I repeat do not ever call yourself stupid.
the pink and black scarf says états-unis which means United States in French
the scarf says united states in french!!!
