I believe that in Briggsy's last journal she says that the original vault where we find the shroudbreaker is where it recharges at, and that she would return it there so it can recharge but would hide the shroudbreaker gems in places from her past that would be "safe from fleshie hands."
As a geologist I feel the need to correct you on your geological inaccuracies. Asteroid bombardment can indeed cause enough heat to generate volcanism (as one of the theories for the onset of tectonic plate activity in Earth's early life suggests) but that bombardment would have to be so extreme that the entire world would be volcanically active and no life could possibly exist. A more realistic approach is that the Devil's Roar is simply an active subduction zone. More specifically, an active island arc where an oceanic tectonic plate is actively being subducted under another. This would explain the small stratovolcanoes and strombolian activity seen in the Devil's Roar (the exact geological context of Stromboli in Italy, for example). Furthermore, your explanation on tilted rock formations being generated by asteroid impacts and associated seismicity is also inaccurate. Although impacts form craters and tilt the rocks locally around them, the seismicity has no role in this. It's purely a matter of the force of impact displacing the surrounding rock. I also don't think this is what is happening here. You were right when saying these kind of rocks occur in nature, but the picture of the tilted sedimentary beds you showed is actually caused by normal tectonic activity such as collision between continental plates and tilt over hundreds of thousand or even million of years (i.e. not formed by impacts or intense seismicity and "splash back"). Overall, the Sea of Thieves appears to have normal tectonic plate motion that is unrelated to a bombardment. That doesn't mean the fall of the ancient civilization wasn't caused by such bombardment, which could entirely be the case. Sorry for the novel but I just thought I could shed some light on geological processes and let you know. Let's also keep in mind that Rare definitely did not consult with a geologist so their mystical world is probably not geologically accurate and your theory might still be right in the end ahaha. Great theory as always ! My only issue here is that according to the book, the Merfolks don't know what happened to the Ancients. They didn't even see them go away. They seem to have realised one day that they were gone all of sudden and they went looking for them for a while. So it would seem weird that they would be surprised of their disappearance if they were actually helping them fight a threat just before.
It would make sense. You can become a sea folk, but you lose your memories when you do. So maybe the ancients ( or at least some of them) realized that living on land was a lost cause and went to the water to become a fishy face.

She was only able to reach the Devil's Roar because of her ship, which is also called the Shroudbreaker, that had a figurehead with the Shroudbreaker's power. That's what allowed her to find the Roar in the first place. However, when the Shroudbreaker sunk, the magical Shroud-breaking pieces of the figurehead were scattered throughout the Roar, thereby preventing the Shroud from closing back in on it.

When doing a riddle on Discovery Ridge, it referred to the painting of the yellow an dnlue mermaids as the gatekeepers. Between them is a diamond with little squiggles coming off. Could that symbol represent another dimension, or the like entrance to mermaid town lol? Something to think about. I think that also points to 2 distinct kinds of mermaids, and one of each (a good one and an evil one) guard the gate together, kind of like in real life mythology with a demon and an angel.
I mean considering the gold is cursed and that they were in touch with it, it would make sense that these guys are the skellies that spawn on tribute peak.
Now we are getting somewhere. Though you forget the Krakens ink allows the oos to see things. The ink is the recharge for the Shroudbreaker. The island is called tribute peak. They sacrificed there not had mermaid conversations. To the West is where the mermaid city lies to. Maybe they were once friends but something may have happened to try and go across to them.
These videos are so important to actually understand this game, its way more than just a game, i dont know any other "game" where so much hidden material is part of its story
Well no secrets revealed but it's good to see a speculation video. These have always been interesting to watch. One question though, I'd the monuments and statues were built atop a mountain by the ancients, the causeway leading away wouldn't have been to the water but to someplace further downhill. Or is it they were built after the "appocolypse" struck?
I like the idea that the Shores of Gold may have served as a meeting place for the Ancients and the Merfolk. It certainly makes sense when you read the lore. Insinuating that Old Mother has a key role in the Shroudbreaker is pretty interesting. I hope that will seep into the game at some point.
Full Expression It would be completely awesome having in front of us a massive kraken chained just roaring or doing something in a cave underground at a specific point in the map, the inside lore in game would get richer with the appearance of the old mother

Idk if anyone knows this but on shores of gold if you go to the statues and go to the mermaid portal thing. If you go to the stairway there is a lever if you press that the triangle wall goes down and shows you a glowing map of the mermaid portal “thing”

This is what he says ''Giant winged creature that lives in the sea and set fire to a fleet of ships'' This could be hinting at a new boss maybe? Maybe Cthulu will come to Sea of Thieves since its a giant winged creature that lives in the sea like Cthulu.
I have a feeling the static in the past few videos has something to do with Wanda. Also, in the first tall tale, the journal of the Pirate Lord says that he was chased by Flameheart's ship The Burning Blade, but in Flameheart's journal, the Pirate Lord is already a spectral figure. Is this a mistake on Rare's part. Or did the Burning Blade belong to somebody else before Flameheart?
The Devil's Roar is volcanic solely due to Flameheart's rage at being imprisoned below it, physically manifesting. A weary soul once mentioned that the volcanos themselves seemed 'angry'.
The devils roar is that way because it was covered by the shroud, until recently uncovered by Captain Morrow and the Forsaken Alliance aboard the ship known as The Shroudbreaker. It has nothing to do with flameheart.

Mad respect for your work in detailing lore for the rest of the players. Nowhere does it state that the Devil's Roar is that way(volcanic) BECAUSE of the Shroud. Two separate phenomenon. However, as I said, there ARE multiple hints at the vulcanism in the Roar being supernatural, and a specific line of dialogue referring to the volcanos/islands as being 'angry' (in the process of tracking it down again). With the iconography, placement and inaccessibility of the vault beneath the Roar, it's a much more likely hiding place for the Chalice that made Flameheart what he is, and subsequently his tomb/prison, than most anything else. His magical rage being the cause of the eruptions just seems so much more fitting than mundane natural reasons, or some convoluted way for the Shroud to have caused it. While I'm 100% positive that you know something I don't, the evidence over the last few updates is HEAVILY pointing towards the reemergence of Flameheart. The stealing of the ritual relics, the searching for skeleton lord (his crew) bodies within Reapers Chests, the performing of the ritual at the wreck of the Blackwytch, the Stranger's sketches, the new Flameheart Shrine on Wanderer's Refuge... He's coming, and the Devil's Roar is the most likely, and in my opinion best fitting, resting place for our potential Big Bad.
Nice video I just did the shores of gold last night and it was really good. I did it to celebrate my accomplishment for becoming pirate Legend. It was the best adventure I have ever experienced in a game.
If the water levels were once lowered. Than underwater caves with ancient structure couldn't exist because of the fact u o u have to swim up or down to reach them. If the water levels were lowered than that would be a long climb up or down.
Maybe the Ancients used a form of transportation so advanced, We only see copies of them at certain islands and on our ships. Maybe, the ancients used... Ladders?

Watches falcore videos for indepth lore on islands and the people living on them. Ends up realizing and rationalizing Rare now have Falcore making an entire conspiracy theory in their perfect favors to help people realize Gears 5 and battle toads are going to meet in this strange lands.
Ok, but hear me out. So we know that the ancients were the first to colonize the Sea of Thieves. But what if the sea of thieves is actually much larger than we think. We know the shroud to be a thick wall of mist that tears through ships and pirates alike. So when tribute peak was enveloped, it was lost in the shroud, but what if more has been lost in the shroud. I cant quite remember what novel it was from, but one of the Chris Allcock novels talked about the wilds being much bigger. So its only safe to assume the sea of thieves was once much bigger, meaning there may be a chance more lore lies beyond our reach. Maybe not, i dont know, just something to think about

Ok, but hear me out. So we know that the ancients were the first to colonize the Sea of Thieves. But what if the sea of thieves is actually much larger than we think. We know the shroud to be a thick wall of mist that tears through ships and pirates alike. So when tribute peak was enveloped, it was lost in the shroud, but what if more has been lost in the shroud. I cant quite remember what novel it was from, but one of the Chris Allcock novels talked about the wilds being much bigger. So its only safe to assume the sea of thieves was once much bigger, meaning there may be a chance more lore lies beyond our reach. Maybe not, i dont know, just something to think about
