Greatest footballer ever. Most gifted ever. When he played football was so much harder and brutal, if he was protected like Messi is today I don't even want to imagine what he would have done. Cristiano can barely dribble one player, Diego used to dribble 4 or 5 constantly in the 80s. His prime was basically the entire 80s but especially when he played for Napoli because Serie A then was probably the toughest league ever.
Napoli were nearly relegated the season before he arrived and he led them to two league championships and a European trophy in an era where they were competing against AC Milan which was the best team on the planet. Napoli only won their third ever title last season, the first since he left.
People completely ignore how much the game has changed since he played with far better pitches and offensive players given a lot more protection than they did when he played. He faced tackles in virtually every game that would be red cards today and he rarely if ever dived. He would just get straight back up and carry on running and only stayed down if genuinely hurt. The fouls players get free kicks for now the ref would have ignored and allowed play to continue back then. It was very much a contact sport then and Maradona tbf gave as good as he got. Eg his last game for Barca against Bilbao is a classic for all the wrong reasons, but shows how tough he was and not afraid to get stuck in.
@@MrPOZNEG He was just being modest. How would he look if he said he was the greatest ever? He always said he just wanted to be remembered as one of the best ever and appreciated the talent of others like Ronaldinho.
The true goat. What he did in 86 and at Napoli cannot be surpassed. He joined them from Barca when they were nearly relegated the season before and led them to two league championships and a European trophy in an era where they were competing with AC Milan which was the best team on the planet. Napoli only won their third ever title last season, the first since he left. They’d won nothing before he arrived there and it took over 30 years to win their next.

The only common points is that they are both short very technical n10 Argentinians. After that, reality is that they played different positions, had different roles, had completely different attitudes towards the game, and had completely opposite careers. Maradona is much more of a player that would willingly take on several players in his runs. Much more so than Messi who will make the right pass and only attack players straight on when the play demands it. Also, Messi spent his entire career much more of a finisher than Maradona. Maradona didnt play so high up. Differences are abysmal.

Thanks Diego!!! The world, the Argentines and especially the Boca Juniors fans are always going to love you! Not everyone has the balance to endure that and you were no exception. No one could do "the hand of God", only him; the hand of god was only the cherry on the cake, the play, originated and created by him, was spectacular.
17 Year old Diego Maradona, was the top goal scorer in Argentina. Broken ankle in '83 and drug addiction, is what kept him from reaching his full potential. Messi didn't have these problems.
You have to be drunk; Maradona did reach his full potential, which was between 1976 and 1990, peaking in 1986 - ´87. Maradona was the team and Pele, made like 1000 goals because he had the best Brasil, to give the ball to him and score, like Messi has today.
British friends, who always remember "the hand of god" A bit of history ... Diego with "the hand of god" were stolen .. We agree! I would also like to talk about the World Cup 66 quarterfinals England - Argentina (German referee) Germany - Uruguay (English referee) The German referee expels Rattin (Argentine captain) after 33 minutes said that he had insulted him, without knowing the Spanish language. England won 1-0 with a goal from Hurst in the 77th minute with arbitration that favored them throughout the game. If the robbery is done by the power of the Football organizations, from the shadows, is it more acceptable for a football player to do it in full view of the world?
@@GentleNem From this episode, the red and yellow cards were created. Rattin did not understand Alenan, nor did the referee know Spanish. The Argentine captain tries to receive an explanation from the German for the partiality in his charges in favor of England. The referee's arguments were "he looked at me with a frown and I understood that he had insulted me" that was the beginning of the great rivalry between Argentina and England in the world cups. Thanks to you for the tribute to Diego!
You didn't see Diego playing, it's not your fault, but he was way better than Messi. Even when he didn't have a real team like the football players nowadays have. He was something else. Magical
Maradona is the God of Football. Not pele, Not Messi, Not Ronaldo, Not Ronaldino. He was the great leader and magical player. He was the Lion when he was in field. RIP for the KING.
Let's see who does Maradona reminds me of? 🤔 Oh! He reminds me of Maradona and no one else. First of all, the average number of goals scored in games back in Maradona's day, wasn't as high as it is today. It was a lot harder to score back then. Maradona didn't score many goals by today's standard partly because of him playing a true midfielder #10. Not a forward like Ronaldo and Messi most of his career. The catch is that every single goal Maradona scored is just pure beauty..including the Hand Of God. He's in my top 1 all time. 😁 What do Diego Maradona and George Best have in common? They both passed away on the same day 15 years apart. RIP Diego, RIP George 🙏
Lollipops were not such a big part of the skills arsenal in that era. Maradona did do the odd one from time to time. The whole crazy legs thing was popularized by Denilson and Ronaldo in the late 90s and was soon imitated by players like Zidane (and it wasa useful skill for players like him who ers not natural dribblers). OTOH, if you go back far enough it was a skill used in the past. There is footage of Di Stefano doing the crazy legs Lollipops to bamboozle his opponents back in the 50s.
With forgiveness from the best players of all time, but Maradona is much more than Ronaldhino, because he surpassed him in speed, the speed of Maradona is not the same as that of Ronaldinho Maradona was explosive at every moment he grabbed the ball and faced and It happened to you from a 4, then it is not comparable with Messi since Messi is not as technically complete as Maradona, Maradona made you magic inside the court he made you all over golkers from all sides, rabonas, Chilenas, roulette, pipe, hats, On the other hand, Messi does not make you a rabona, he does not make you a Chilean, he does not make you roulette, Messi is more a scorer than Maradona but Maradona is more complete technically speaking, and then with the other great players in history Maradona is an extraterrestrial Others come below, I do not think another maradona will be seen again because he had all the technical qualities he had everything, passes, speed, luxuries, goals, courage, born leader, what else could this player ask of him?
You're missing a lot of Diego th-cam.com/video/C-pq6XMrLME/w-d-xo.html Diego's era was the toughest ... there were many high-quality players, and they hit much more than today ... those who hit were rarely penalized. And everything he achieved was achieved on weak teams ... he was never on teams with the best players of his time. He had to face the best players and teams. Messi has been great, but he has been great in the best teams of his era and playing with some of the best players of his era. No one had the context of Diego ... no one ... all the other greats in soccer history played for the best teams of their eras with several of the best teammates and national teams of their time. Diego was the best of all!
He actually reminds me way more of Ronaldinho than Messi because he so often uses the spectacular choice or trickery to solve Pressure situations. You can feel the same joy on the ball. Messi is way more business than the other 2. I think the usual comparison with Messi is based purely on their height which leads to having similar strengths in the dribbling department. Nonetheless the true difference between Maradona and the others is his attitude. Watch the hymns between England and Argentina 86 and just look at the determination in his face. Messi never had that. It's the difference between a kid from the street that had to claw himself to the top vs a kid who got carefully crafted by Top Coaches and one of the greatest surrounding casts to ever exist.
Please react to "Gazza - Clown Prince of England" or "THE GREAT PAUL GASCOIGNE". Literally nobody on TH-cam has reaction videos of England's most talanted, charasmatic, funny and biggest star of the 90's. Which is a crying shame - in reference to the 1990 World Cup Semi Final which helped make Gazza a worldwide superstar.
CORRECTION, The goal that Diego Armando Maradona scored against England in the World Cup Mexico 1986 for the QUATER FINALS is the best goal in the HISTORY OF ALL WORLD CUPS NOT ONE OF THE BEST BUT THE BEST as you stated as you stated in this video. Maradona was the best Football player of ALL TIME!!! Better than Pele!!! Like the song from Tina Turner says "SIMPLY THE BEST BETTER THAN ALL THE REST"!!!!
What I meant is; Maradona... did alllllllllllllllllllllllll THAT while being yanked, kicked and fouled time after time after time, yet like some sort of phoenix he rose up to the highest of occasions. Maradona's greatest moment came in WC quarter final. Messi's came against Getafa or something. Yanked, kicked and fouled. Now, you tell me, what player Maradona's style looked like. Did you see the azzuri ocean that was around him, yet he came up with what should be a stunning-assist, yet abused by the lack of talent of his team-mate. Now, who has done anything like that in WC game? Or the assist against Brazil 1990 WC? With a broken foot? & so on & on...
Seems like youre only about "the goals"; Maradona was not a forward or a "scorer", he was a playmaker. The thing is he scored some of the most extraordinary goals ever also, but that was not his mission on the field. On this video, they are showing you some of his plays and his natural ability. Just some. Also: Messi never reached the level of Diego Maradona, never reached his 1986 cosmic level. He was from another planet, offensively and defensively, as he played all over the pitch. Diego was a beast against Italy, Uruguay, England, Belgium, Hungary, Germany, Brazil in the WCs more than once. A beast against super powers Milan, Juventus and Inter in the 1980s Serie A, the toughest and brutal league of all time, playing in the worst team of Italy. Lio was beast with a 1 billon Euros dream team against Leganes, Espanyol Levante. Hope you see the difference.
First of all Messi/C.Ronaldo are Hulks compared to this man. Comparing modern footballet to before the 90's real aggressive football is a sin. The rules have changed the game beyond recognition. It is like comparing the greatness of Mike Tyson to Hulk Hogan and claiming both are great martial artists. Yes Hulk Hogan's are goats. Goats that Fifa milks for money. Now enjoy the WC of footballet in Qatar, for you never know when they dilute it even thinner, and breastfeed you (football fan) with more goat milk. Peace! ✌
Maradona was magic. The best football player of all time.

Literally nobody on TH-cam has reaction videos of England's most talanted, charasmatic, funny and biggest star of the 90's. Which is a crying shame - in reference to the 1990 World Cup Semi Final which helped make Gazza a worldwide superstar.
ill look into it buddy
@@GentleNem Cool. Maybe you can find better videos. Two above are short and and more about his personality than talent but still good although old.
Just a little info, Gazza and Maradona were close friends
El que mejor trato a la pelota.
Sorry I’m still learning about this legend
D10S 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Maradona is the number ONE you must to understand. Messi eis an exellent futbol player but comparaiting with Maradona no vale un PINGO
Agreed
Maradona> Messi > Ronaldo nazario
Mn1
El 1
Messi reminds you of Maradona , not the opposite
true lol stumbled over my words a little
Messi cant lace Maradona boots
CR7 play like Maradona? what? it's a joke, right? there is no comparition between them
Your rather large stock of ignorance got shrunk a bit today, that is call education and it's good for you. All the best, kid.
Interesting reply
First of all Messi/C.Ronaldo are Hulks compared to this man.
Comparing modern footballet to before the 90's real aggressive football is a sin. The rules have changed the game beyond recognition. It is like comparing the greatness of Mike Tyson to Hulk Hogan and claiming both are great martial artists. Yes Hulk Hogan's are goats. Goats that Fifa milks for money. Now enjoy the WC of footballet in Qatar, for you never know when they dilute it even thinner, and breastfeed you (football fan) with more goat milk. Peace! ✌
