- जगजीत सिंह अरोड़ा और ए ए के नियाज़ी एक मेज़ के सामने बैठे और दोनों ने आत्मसमर्पण के दस्तावेज़ों की पाँच प्रतियों पर हस्ताक्षर किए. नियाज़ी थोड़े परेशान हुए क्योंकि उनके पास कलम नहीं था. जनरल अरोड़ा की बगल में खड़े एक भारतीय अफ़सर ने उन्हें अपना पेन दिया. पता नहीं क्या सोचकर नियाज़ी ने अपना पूरा नाम नहीं लिखा सिर्फ़ ए ए के निया ही लिखा. इस बारे में जनरल अरोड़ा को बताया गया. उन्होंने फिर नियाज़ी से बात की. इसके बाद नियाज़ी ने फिर अपना पूरा नाम लिखा. नियाज़ी ने अपनी वर्दी पर लगे बिल्ले हटाए और अपनी .38 रिवॉल्वर निकालकर अरोड़ा को सौंप दी. उन्होंने अधीनता स्वीकार करने की मुद्रा में अपने माथे को जनरल अरोड़ा के माथे से लगाया. उस समय उनकी आँखों से आँसू बह रहे थे. पूरा समारोह सिर्फ़ 15 मिनट में समाप्त हो गया.

Indian army join the war in November and formed মিত্র বাহিনী. 3 million people died. More than 4500 indian soldiers died. A lot of respect for their contribution and salute Indira gandhi for her brave steps ignoring America.

पंजाब: दूसरे दिन मैंने पाकिस्तानी सेना के मेजर जनरल मुकेश खान द्वारा लिखित पुस्तक क्राइसिस ऑफ लीडरशिप पर एक लेख पढ़ा। लेखक 1971 के युद्ध के दौरान अपने अनुभवों के बारे में बताते हैं और भारतीय सेना में सिखों की बहादुरी का विशेष उल्लेख करते हैं।
वह लिखते हैं कि सिखों ने एक दुर्जेय शक्ति का गठन किया और उनकी हार का कारण थे। 3 दिसंबर 1971 को पाकिस्तानी सेना की पैदल सेना की ब्रिगेड ने हुसैनीवाला सीमा के पास भारतीय सेना पर हमला कर दिया।
शक्तिशाली पंजाब रेजिमेंट और बलूच रेजिमेंट वाली उनकी ब्रिगेड के साथ, भारतीय सेना को पीछे हटने के लिए मजबूर होना पड़ा। जैसे ही पाकिस्तानी सेना कौसरे-हिंद चौकी (कसुरे) के पास पहुंची, उन्हें सिख रेजिमेंट से संबंधित भारतीय सेना के एक छोटे से हिस्से ने रोक दिया।
हवा में गूँजते हुए बोले सो निहाल के नारों के साथ सिख सैनिक छत पर चले गए और उनका लगातार विरोध किया। पूरी रात उन्होंने पाकिस्तानी सैनिकों पर गोलियां बरसाईं और अगले दिन जब पाकिस्तानी टैंकों ने पोस्ट पर बमबारी की तो कुछ सिख शहीद हो गए। शेष बहादुर सैनिकों ने तब पाकिस्तानी टैंकों को नष्ट कर दिया। बड़ी बहादुरी से लड़ते हुए, वे आगे बढ़े और इस तरह हमारी सेना ने अपने पैर जमा लिए, लेखक ने किताब में लिखा है।
"काश! मुट्ठी भर सिखों ने हमारी महान जीत को बड़ी हार में बदल दिया और हमारे आत्मविश्वास और साहस को चकनाचूर कर दिया। ऐसा ही कुछ बांग्लादेश के ढाका में हुआ। जसूर की लड़ाई में सिंहों ने पाकिस्तानी सेना का इस कदर विरोध किया कि हमारी रीढ़ और पांव खो गए। यह हमारी हार का मुख्य कारण बन गया और सिखों की ताकत और देश की सुरक्षा और सम्मान उनकी जीत का एकमात्र कारण बन गया, ”लेखक ने अपनी पुस्तक में लिखा है।
