In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about Pakistani Army Surrender in Bangladesh Liberation War In 1971. Each year 16 December is cerebrated as victory day or vijay diwas in India. 11 December is a crucial date of this war when indian Paratroopers dropped from Parachute and Intercept Pakistan Army retreating to Dhaka. The photo of thousand paratroopers caused mayhem in the pakistani Army. On 16th India had declared ceasefire on the condition that General Niazi would accept the terms of Surrender. Major general J. F. R. Jacob reached Dhanka with draft document of Surrender. Niazi was initially reluctant to Agree but major general Jacob applied his wits and made Niazi to not only accept the condition of Surrender but also to give guard of Honour to Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora.

On 16th December 1971, the Chief of the Pakistani Forces, General Niazi along with his ❾❸⓿⓿⓿ soldiers surrendered to Indian forces.This war led to the liberation of East pakistan as Bangladesh. On this day, We Indian pays homage to all the soldiers who defended the nation.

The entire story is rivetting and satisfying. All the contributions were recounted Pakistani prisoners of war were also mentioned but how could you forget about around 54 Indian prisoners of war still languishing in Pak jails. We seemed to have given up on them to such an extent that a channel forgets to mention them on such an important occassion. They are not even in our collective psyches. What a shame! The least that can be done is to remind the govt about those bravehearts and exhort it to do something for them ..... कुछ याद उन्हें भी कर लो जो लौट के घर ना आए.....
यह पक्की बात है कि भारत के लोग इन unsung heroes को कभी याद नहीं करते,उनके परिवारों का ख्याल नहीं रखा जाता। यह सभ यहां ना अहिल लीडरशिप के कारण है।देश में कानून बनना चाहिए कि लोग सभा और विधान सभा का चुनाव वही व्यक्ति लड़ सकता है जिसका बेटा या बेटी भारतीय सेना में कम से कम 2 साल काम किए हो। अगर औलाद नहीं है तो भतीजे भतीजी में से कोई सेना में जाऐ।

They are very much in my psyche. For a long time I had kept the newspaper cutting of the interview of the wife of flight lt Tambe.
But we should from govt demand what happend to those bravehearts, who as I know had been dispersed and shifted to private prisons.
Even if their martyred bodies are recovered we can close the case ( after punishing the culprits).

Camp schedule n I have that certificate with me still today. I had decided to join
Army or air force but my mom disagreed
To my decision n I withdrawn to join armed forces.at that time one I had one
