Battletech is the only IP where the mechs feel like giant walking tanks, and not giant power armor suits. Nothing wrong with anime-style mecha, but there are tons of them, and only one Battletech.

@@PaulGuy Agreed. It has a unique stile for sure and thats good. Even if I tend to prefer the gundam type mechs

A lot of anime is, I think, Super Robot. Gundam, being the progenitor of the Real Robot genre does a good job of making them feel like giant robots being piloted by people. I think mostly anything in the UC Gundam universe. Obviously one of my favorite Gundams, G Gundam, is Super Robot.
But I do agree about Battletech. I prefer it oftentimes over Gundam (though I like both almost equally), and that's mainly because I like the walking tank aspect of BattleMechs.

There was 2 other mech games that felt similar in piloting. Chrome hounds was a more tanky feeling game from the AC guys. The 2nd is the legendary Steel Battalions".
However both are nowhere near Battletech in universe scale.

This game single handedly made me interested in mechs. No other game has conveyed such a strong sense of world and feel as Battletech. I was completely blown away and sucked into its immersive and deep lore with its extremely impressive world building. Honestly that opening intro cutscene had so much intrigue and lore jammed in, it should win an award for most immersive and efficient story telling.

Im surprised that you didnt mention the 40 years of novels and lore behind these conflicts. But great video, sad it took me this long to come across it.

I'm not new to the game, but I still enjoy watching these 'Intro to BattleTech' videos.

The most complete Battletech tabletop campaign system is the The Battle of Tukkayid rulebook. You will need Beginner box, A game of armored combat box, clan invasion box, grasslands and Tukkayid map packs, Tactical Operations rulebook, Battlemech Manual rulebook, and the 20 force packs from 2020. It has all the campaigns for all the clans involved in that decisive campaign that determined the fate of the Inner Sphere and stopped the clan invasion.
You will never play the same battle twice due to the way in which it is designed. I would say it is probably what you are looking for. More Battletech.
Terrain in Tukkayid is treacherous, it can damage your mechs with just moving. And the battles are brutal as usual.

Some others have pointed you towards the tabletop game. But no one has mentioned the Mechwarrior games. Mechwarrior 5: Mercs is same out of Combat style (all be it a little more forgiving) but you are piloting that Locust, Hunchback, Atlas. You do still have an NPC lance with you (that can be replaced by friends).

Have you tried megamek? It's an ok sim for tabletop. Not sure if they have an alpha strike version.

The way to have more Battletech is to play tabletop Battletech. There are features (rules) that the videogame does not have. Of course all that detail comes at a price: TIME. A game with 8 mechs could last a week. That is the price of simulationist gaming on tabletop.
The best way to start is with the Beginner box that has a simplified set of rules to have a grasp about the game. The tabletop game is like chess with mechs. And if you want to add a story, Mechwarrior Destiny rulebook allows to play RPG with beloved characters and high stakes. It has the fabricated missions and characters so you can play more effortlessly.

Jagged Alliance, while it doesn't have mechs has some of that company management stuff, but Battletech (and its TT predecessor) will always be king.
isn't Insurance a Mech Warrior thing? BT has payment V Scrap

Regarding the insurance thing, you’re right I’m dumb lol. I also play a lot of mech warrior so I mixed them up on that point. I will trim out that part of the video, thanks for pointing it out. While both games share in many similarities, that is not one of them x)
