Looking back at this video since it's been almost a full year, while I'm mostly happy with the finished product, I wish I had delved a little deeper into the actual mechanics of the game (like weapons, defensive tools, etc.). I feel like I mostly talked about surface-level details on a lot of stuff. Part of me wants to make a follow-up talking about mods for the game, because I've recently installed many of them after finally taking the plunge and soft-modding my Xbox, but I'm not sure what commentary I can provide on those. I can say, though, that between keeping multiplayer going and the additional content offered by mods, the community really has breathed new life into this 20+-year-old game.
MechAssault was my very first xbox game, that game was my childhood, it was also the game that got me into battletech, I just wish that we could get a remaster or remake.
Mechassault is a like your first love, you never forget it. Awsome vid, thank you very much for keeping the nostalgia and memories of the golden age alive.
At0mic, just want to say, thanks for this. It's great to see a new upload from you appear on my home page. Yours was the first MechAssault LP I ever watched! Crazy how the time flies, right? The first Mechassault is something I also remember fondly, although I never got to experience the online play. Just the campaign and solo or splitscreen Grinder was loads of fun. Mechassault, and Battletech as a whole, is something that has been a great inspiration, becoming one of the key parts in the foundation for a universe of my own, one that I've put years of my life into developing. In it, there are also big robots, and a fair few of them tend to call back to that primal desire to wreck everything that you mentioned. In a way, you and your LP of the game helped ensure that Mechassault was fresh in my mind during the early phases of it's creation! Hope you've been well, and as you said so perfectly... *LONG LIVE MECHASSAULT!*
You know... as an adult, these types of games mean nothing to me. But I remember playing Mech Assault on the ds as a kid (born in 1997). I played it, loved it, and moved on. Now I'm 25, and for some reason, as I went on to play games as i grew up, it felt like something was just missing. I realized, that I always simply missed Mech Assault. Now Im happy to experience the entire series
I grew up with Mechwarrior 2 and 3 on my home PC. I was at a birthday party for a friend of a friend in middle school when I saw this game on their shelf. I had never heard of it, and when we booted it up, it was like someone was committing heresy before my eyes. Why were these 'mechs moving so quickly? Where was my bitchin' Betty? How do I get to the mech bay!? It wasn't until years later that I managed to get a copy of it for myself, and while it is never going to bypass the originals in my eyes, Assault is always a good time.
MechAssault turned 20?! 🥹 Why hasn't this game got a remaster?! JUST WHY?! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ This game is the ONLY game that I have beaten 3 different times 2 Stars, 3 Stars even 4 Stars
Mechassault 1 and 2 were the first ever games I played on my OG Xbox when I was little, I still keep my fingers crossed for a reboot, remake, or even a remaster. Mechwarrior is cool but doesn't interest me that much tbh
This was the only game where i would be in the top 10 worldwide. This is also the only game where i recieved tons of death threats from other players. Good Times! 😂
Mechassault was a poster child of xbox hacking, as a save reading issue allowed for code execution. I would think it would be the initial reason why it never got an xbox360 compatibility.
Your Xbox can't run any game without an error reading the disk ? Well, let me introduce you to the wonderful world of console modifications, I also think that your console could use a cleaning, If you have free time, it is as easy as watching some tutorials and seeing what can be done to make your console work well again.

Awesome video! Loved the retrospective! Seeing your perspective on the whole thing is interesting to hear. As you said, the community will live on 😄
