Now onto your account, I think the writting was on the wall on your first day from the way he treated that girlfriend he had then, in front of his friends on his birthday. But one thing about these men who are so hard to break up with is usually something about the way they lay the pipe. Anachukuaga, anaweka, waah, unamsamehea. Good tidings. LESSONS ACCORDING TO ME:
1. Office romance is risky and one should take time to know the person, know the rules.
2. Ladies, as much as it is possible please don’t move in with your man haraka upesi like that. Give the relationship some reflection as you get to know the guy. Mkikosana after 2 weeks or 3 months at least bado uko na kwako. That way you have a fighting chance to demand what you’re worth.
3. That birthday bash of the new boyfriend puzzled me. Even if I kinda like a colleague, there’s no way I’m giving him a cake from my mouth to his in front of all our colleagues na saa hio hata birthday nimeeambiwa leo tu from another colleague. I would go to the bash and be in the background. Get to know his friends. At the first hint that he’s with or was recentlly with another chic from work….🚩🚩🚩MURIFE 🏃🏾♀️ 🏃🏾♀️ 🏃🏾♀️
4. As a woman, when you live at your place and you get together with a man, after some time, you can ask for keys to his home and vice-versa. Lakini wewe unakaa kwako as you examine this relationship. Once in a while, go to your man’s place unannounced. Keep him on his toes. Sio ati anajua schedule yako yote 24/7. Keep a bit of mystery. I don’t mean cheat on him. I mean you can have a day off and stay at your place all day, or decide to visit him unannounced that day you planned to stay home all day. Useme spontaneously jioni akitoka job upitie kwake na dinner…Ama uenda spa ama utembelee beste yako. Don’t discard your good female relationships ati coz you’ve got a man. Take time off for your hobbies, gym, book club, connecting with your girls, etc.
5. At the first citing of cheating problems, especially in a new relationship, call yourself to a meeting and start making decisions about yourself. This guy had too many explanations to give. After that incident of the pregnant collegemate carrying his potential child, cut that relationship off. You can examine the truth in the comfort of your own place surrounded by people who love you and are not afraid to tell you the truth. Sometimes, ladies, we are standing so close to the bullshit we can’t see clearly. Kwanza mtu wa kupigiwa simu na madame usiku and his behaviors when it comes to his phone are fishy…ati he changes the names of chics calling him at wierd hours coz wewe ushaaelevuka. And in his mind, that solved the problem?!?🤦🏾♀️ My lady, enda ukiendanga.
6. Ladies, it’s okay to have marriage in mind as the big goal of a relationship, but please call yourself to a meeting from time to time and analyze whether the relationship you’re investing everything in is moving in the direction of marriage. If there are inconsistencies and clear deviations to the plans you have, give the relationship a “performance review” and decide whether it’s time to recalibrate, renegotiate or exit. Let’s stop investing our hearts, energy and time in men that are going nowhere with us. Cut your losses mapema and move on. Easier said than done, I know. Lakini kama your sixth sense is telling you something is wrong constantly, LISTEN!
7. Last but not least, ladies, lets cultivate having boundaries long before we get into any relationship. Be willing to share your boundaries with our families, friends and potential suitors. Practice your boundaries at home with family and with your friends so that by the time you’re dating, they are part of you. In the very beginning of every relationship, share your boundaries and the values that are important to you: honesty, mutual respect, kindness, exclusivity etc. Don’t wait for the guy to trample on you to find out how far he can break your boundaries and break you. Let the guy know in advance what you’re willing to put up with and what is unacceptable. Have these hard conversations from time to time. And please, don’t find out a guy has a child the way Lydia did and stay. It was the wife of the best friend of this guy who disclosed to Lydia that her boyfriend had a child! This dude had not mentioned once that he has a school-aged child to Lydia for a whole year, WTF?!?! At that rate, it seems he was never going to tell her. Call yourself to a meeting and ask yourself: “ If he was willing to conceal a child, a part of himself for this long, what else is he not disclosing? Is that against any of my values? A man who openly discloses he has a child/children from prior relationships gives you a chance to consider if you are okay with that or not. Having a child prior to a relationship is not a problem. It’s the not disclosing that is.
I’m glad Lydia finally saw the light. The 🚩🚩🚩 had been blinking for a while. Good for you chica for deciding you deserved better coz you did 💯 percent and you still do!
