    We never saw what you were cutting or where you were cutting because the camera was a static shot and all the action took place outside of the viewing range. Not so good.

      I know! I just watched this and the whole trimming that she is referencing is happening below the camera shot! Gah!!! Not everyone is a videographer and almost everyone needs a second opinion before posting instructionals. As I enlarged the screen in vain search for her hands, it kind of made me motion sick :D

      It would have been very beneficial if I could have seen what the Japanese pruning saw looked like as they are all different. I agree, too fast for my poor eye sight. 🤓

    Why is the camera not showing what she is supposed to be demonstrating, at the base of the plant?? Not helpful lol

    I shouldn't complain because I couldn't have done a video like this myself but I have to agree with most people here that this was worthless. I wanted to learn how to trim back several overgrown BOP plants and was especially looking for images around the base of the plant. Instead the most time spent on any one image is twirling a pretty BOP blossom back and forth.

    • @tiktaktotiki8595
      @tiktaktotiki8595 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didnt she say you cut the straggly and unwanted stems back right at the base.
      its not rocket science
      .if you want to cut the plant in half.
      Then just do it.
      A sharp spade or Japanese saw she said.
      Looking at the other vids shows the roots are not very deep,and clump rather than spread out.
      Looks like a picnic to me.

    I am amazed that this gardener is supposedly showing how to prune an imaginary plant! She starts by telling you that she doesn't have any of the said plants in her garden, then she holds up one leaf and one bloom which is apparently supposed to represent a real plant??? Crazy! Just crazy!!!

    I have a mature giant BOP that has become unruly. Can I cut it all the way back to the ground and let it respurt or will this kill it. I live in Florida on the gulf coast and the climate it very good for this plant. I assume winter is the best time to deadhead it all the way to the ground?

    Really? What's sad is this is the best video up on TH-cam, apparently. All the others don't show anything, or are done using freaking chainsaws... just amazing, great job, wow, you nailed it.

    Some of my bird of paradise leaves are turning in on themselves. What should I do? My plants are five years old and they are just starting to bloom, at least one of them is. They get about seven hours of sun each morning.

    Could you do a video on when, where to look for seed pods for white and orange birds and how to germinate them. I'm in S. Florida & have a massive 20 yr old orange bird. The original plant was from Texas which has never grown a seed pod that I know of. i've never had seeds and want to know why. I fertilized 3xyr and it blooms flowers in fall.

    The garden is wonderful and clean
    amazing plant
    The strange thing is that the bird of paradise is one of the most expensive plants!!? I do not know why?!
    I live in Iraq and the weather is long and hot. The farmers advised me not to cover the bird of paradise until it adapts to the heat and becomes strong.

    You don't need to cut anything with a bird of paradise, you actually can pull the dead flower stems right out. Sometimes it requires a bit of muscle but that way more flowers will sprout to take their place. I was pretty surprised that this video indicated cutting the dead flowers...

    • @joyfulstand7398

    The bird of paradise I have small thin leaves! ?
    Is it because of the small size of the pot?
    Or because of a cold wave?
    Or what?

    My bird of paradise is really struggling. It's indoors, gets bright indirect light, I water it every couple of weeks but the soil just won't dry out, and the leafs have dry brown spots on it. Recently this week, I watered it and one of the leaves started turning yellow. Any suggestion? Zone 7ish Tennessee

    • @ellenhofer3343
      @ellenhofer3343 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure its in a south facing sourse of light and there are no heater or AC vents blowing on it.
      Hold iff on water until the soil is dry at the top, only let it get a few morning hours of direct sun light. Make sure there are holes in the bottom of the planter
      Maybe it needs to be replanted and/or split into 2 new plants
      This plant needs humidity and the leaves need to be dust free
      Don't give up on it.

    That was completely unhelpful. I have a plant with good looking flowers and some dead flowers at the top but the stems are nice and green - you don’t give any information on how to properly prune this stuff. Also it looks like you’re just holding 2 cut plants thru the video not even sure what we’re looking at.
