I just discovered your channel and I freaking Love you. I am Jamaican and my house back home has a lot of plants but my step dad has the green thumb so I would buy plants and he takes care of them. 14 years ago I moved to the states and never bought plants because I was so busy. I started growing a couple plants (in love with Orchids) years ago and whenever my depression rolls in my plants would die. 6 moths ago I started reconnecting with plants. I realize that they really help with my depression because I refused therapy or meds. Now I have about 80 plants in my apartment. They make me extremely happy. Sorry I ramble when I get excited. So in short I love how excited u get when u talk about plants. Thank you for helping us with our babies.

I’m taking notes. I just bought one and her name is Jackee Harry. Why ? I don’t know. She sits in my sunroom and I am patiently waiting for her to grow as tall as Rihanna. By the way, do you know anything about Yucca plants? I have a bunch and afraid that I am not giving enough love. I have 4 total, The Golden Girls , Vanity 6 (which includes a money tree) and Flo. They are low maintenance and Dope!

the browning wasn't necessarily under watering, it was the plant not being able to take up water because it was so root bound. These plants can actually handle very arid conditions.

That's a beautiful plant but they get really massive. Basically they turn into a jungle. That's not really an indoor plant. Unless your going to keep pruning it to keep it small.

  • @be5952
    @be5952 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sorry, but can't join in the 'love in'.
While the 'diagnoser' was friendly and charming, *his advice was dubious,* at best.
Browning on _Birds of Paradise_ are mysterious, and in all the research I've done (as an amateur) on the internet I've never found any definitive answers. For him to say it's all down to _"...not enough watering..."_ is really questionable and certainly doesn't tell the whole story.
He talks about trimming leaves, yet leaves one with a non-fixable bend / kink in it when he's supposedly finished the job?
Throughout his segment, I have the impression *he's way more 'show' than 'substance',* much like just about everything on the Apartment Therapy website has become in the last few years☹.

Hopefully you will get this message and can respond. I have a bird of paradise that HAD 2 plants in one pot. It was a reduced price plant and was not doing very well. After 6 months I have or had it looking good and seem to be doing well until I did something stupid. I was taking it into my bathtub to give it a good rinse off on the leaves and then a healthy drink, but what did I do, I broke one whole plant off at the base. I was sick about it but it is what it is. My ?, is there a possible chance stalks can grow out of the base (it is like someone just sliced it off at the base) of it or do I remove the roots and not take any chance of a fungus invading that broken off plant. Do I just be patient and see if there will be any growth development out of the base of the broken plant. Thank you in advance for your response. Lynn

An easy way to keep bugs away is mix some dish soap with water in a spray bottle and spray them it's mild and the bugs don't like the taste of it. I don't know if it necessarily kills them but it helps.

I live in the north of Ukraine in an apartment without the ability to take plants out into the air.
Although my windows are southern, but in our region daylight from November to February 6-8 hours.
I give the plants extra light, but still, some do not survive the winter and die.
It used to happen that I watered excessively.
Now I'm overdrying, but still, I have little success.
The other day I bought such a bird in a coconut substrate, the roots are whole, not rotten.
Do you think it can be transplanted now? And do you need to soak or shake the coconut substrate?
Do I need to mix new soil with 'stones', lechuza ponom?

Earlier this season I came across a white Bird of Paradise and I've been wanting one soooo bad ever since seeing that plant. It was $36 and that was out of my price range -- but I'll have one someday! I'm thinking a dwarf because I don't have as much room as Susan here did lol. Great video!
