I'm currently deep diving into games from the pre Catan era, including a bunch of the SPJ winners. Will be interested to see more of your content as we line up. I'm acquiring Heimlich and Co, Hoity Toity, and Manhattan, along with a non SDJ winner, Big Boss. Someone in my game group also brings around Um Reifenbreite every year so ill have my chance at that. I've already played Bluff/Liar's Dice/Perudo. Dodging some of the other SPJ winners. The DSJ winners and nominees worth keeping track of too. More geared towards gamer games.
Really glad you were able to find my videos! Seems like they should line up well with what you're currently playing. Yeah, definetely want to look into the DSJ winners, but I wanted these to be shorter more bite sized videos and the heavier the game gets the more I'll have to say about it haha
@@icaruspandas Yes but keep in mind that early German games weren't long or particularly heavy during this era, even for the gamery stuff. We're talking Modern Art and Quo Vadis (recently redone as Zoo Vadis). Some of the winners overlap with the SDJ, and there's even Take 5 (DSP 2004 winner). I suppose you eventually might try to play all the SDJs to present day? They even have a moment where they gave it to some medium heavy games like El Grande, Tikal, and Torres, but everything lighter after that.
@@concretetable5643 good to know, I'm not too familiar with the older DSJs, so it would be interesting to look into them. Yeah! That's the idea but I have a looooooot of projects I'm working on ATM so we will see when that wraps up haha
As someone who enjoys abstract games, listening to the rules this sounds like a game I would absolutely love. But listening to your critiques, I can definitely see the pitfalls. Would you say it plays "better" at the higher player counts or worse?
I prefer it at higher player counts than two, but that can also get kinda weird because players can be out of the game and then suddenly come back into the game. if you get eliminated you could be sitting there for quite a bit while other players are finishing up

Ooooo I didn't even think of that. That is definitely weird! @@icaruspandas
God’s grace does not reach the Houston-New Orleans connection. Demons rule that cursed route, feeding on the dreams of the would-be kings.
This was a beautiful comment

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand abstract games.
