Bro I love this video. And your personal stuff too on point. I consult and have been emerged in barbering the last 5 years and am now building shops. Your content I’ve been absorbing and sharing it with our apprentices. Great content!
Great content bro! Definitely keep it going im always looking to learn from barbers who have been through it and made it out so i like that you talked about how you started and how you got to where you are now
I’m a new barber and love to see this content. Really helps build the confidence and encouragement to continue my journey. Every bit of advice and exposure to the scene helps a lot. Much love bro keep it up.
The talk about money and how long it takes to obtain it is important because ppl thinking about pursuing this as a career need to know if it’s a realistic move in their current position
Bro this is fire 🔥 and all the free tutorials and gems dropped for free on hair cutting tutorials is phenomenal. I joined a course for barbering under the guise of getting haircut tutorials just recently and pay $50 monthly to be in the course, most of the moudles on the course were about building clientele and not focused on cutting hair 😂. It had maybe 7 videos on cutting hair and 20+ vids on other things. I wish i couldve stumbled onto your content sooner so I couldve saved all that money I wasted 😂.
There are some great courses out there and clientele building is EXTREMELY important! You already paid for the month so try to extract as much information as you can and then put it into action. My best advice is great customer service and simple, fast, GREAT haircuts 🙏🏽
@JosCuts I've just started learning how to cut hair.I don't think I'm ready for those steps just yet. The journey I'm on right now is that it's more of a hobby for me, and if I do get good enough someday, I'd consider doing it then. But I appreciate the insight. 💙
@JosCuts just stumbled on to your channel today, and I've been binge watching your videos. The quality of the content you put out and the time you take to explain the concepts as simple as possible is extremely underrated. Definitely fucking with your long format videos too because it's extremely informative. Thanks for the great work you do and providing proper tutorials for free 👌 keep pushing. I hope to learn more from you.
im late, but hell yeah i love the content. This video got me hyped to get in the shop. This type of content is very helpful to me. im very concerned about if i can make money when i get out of school. I have three months left and i plan on quitting my job and just focus on barbering. Keep the content coming
Yes rent is only $200 a week, 1 woman was working in the shop and she was very good at cutting hair but she was very bad at being available in the shop. That’s why I always say it doesn’t matter how good you are at cutting, your customer service matters more !
You’re your own boss so all of these things just don’t apply, you aren’t employed by a barber shop (atleast most the time) you rent a spot or give a percentage
word of mouth is the oldest and most effective trick in the book. most people think that it is social media but its not. put yourself in the shoes of a client. would you rather someone tell you to cut your hair with them through a screen, someone you've never met before. OR, would you rather go to your homies barber or cousins barber after they tell you how dope they are? be a DOPE mf, the cooler you are as a human and person, the more positive vibes you give, the more clientele you will attract. the best form of marketing is a positive vibe the rest will follow. its not corny its the truth!
No es mucho. Las machinas son come 250. Un Wahl Magic clip, y un babyliss Trimmer . Todo lo demas, disinfectantes, Tijerss, peines, todo eso tal vez otros $125 . La verdad no es mucho para empezar 🙏🏽
Aye bro I’m thinking he if starting barber school. I have a kid. I would be switching careers. I also never cut before. Do you think I could make this a career when I get good?
What’s the average haircut price in your city? Times that price by 2 and then times that by 8… 2 haircuts every 30 minutes = how much / hour you can make. Times that by 8 to find out how much you can make in 1 day. If you like that number, then yes absolutely it’s a PHENOMENAL Career
should i go to barber school or should i go to uni. i love cutting hair but im worried that i might not in the future and i dont want to make any mistakes. but at the same time i have no passion for the uni subject im lined up for so i dont want to regret doing nothing either. 17 years old btw any help is welcome (loved the vid)
This is a tough question to answer because I don’t know your work ethic. All I can do is tell you the pros and cons from a person who DROPPED out of COLLEGE to do barbering full time. I went to College 2 years to study for Civil engineering. I dropped out when I was booking 10-12 haircuts a day and realized I can make more from cutting hair than 99% of career choices from college. That being said, it’s not easy. You have no idea how many barbers I’ve seen come to the shop and leave or quit barbering because sometimes you have days when you cut 1-2 people ALL day. If you can put the work in , stay in the shop, perfect your customer service, and perfect your haircut technique . Go all IN on barbering. Here are PROS: you choose your own schedule, you work with your friends/ people who become friends, you meet new people, get all types of connections (example: I cut people who do landscape, photography, roofing, wedding venues, clothing brands, etc.) , you get to choose how much you want to make, you are your own boss. Here are the CONS: since you get to choose your own schedule you can be your own enemy if you’re lazy and lack discipline, sometimes the shop is slow and it can kill your drive and motivation to keep going, it’s nerve wrecking to cut new people or to have fear of fucking a haircut up. All these CONS are controlled by your emotions. If you can control your emotions throughout your journey, there is absolutely 0% chance of failure I guarantee it ! If you’re going to do something go ALL IN !
@@JosCuts thank you bro i really needed this, i know that i want to do it and honestly i see a lot of appeal in working my own schedule, obviously im not trying to blacklist uni for myself but i definitely can see a career without it. really appreciate the effort you put into this response bro keep it up.
You would have to take a loss. If the chair is $300 and you only make $150 then you lose $150. That’s why most beginner barbers do commission only instead of renting a chair !

Bro you seriously talk so much, you repeat yourself over and over again. Learn how to get straight to the point, summarize or rehearse what you want to say.
I thought it was awesome. For serious aspiring barbers all the little details show, how a real day is. People these days have squirrel brains and can't watch a 20 min video. @@JosCuts
@@MarcoMartin-m1s I will have ACTUAL barbers talking on the next one. Barbers show how they STRUGGLE to make ends meet. It’s a struggle but if you stick through it, you will enjoy the fruits of your labor. And if I repeat myself, it’s because I want to STREESSSSS… Not everything is as easy as it looks like on social media. MOST barbers STRUGGLE. I know cause I’ve been there. Thank you for doing this!🙏🏼 I’m trying to learn barbering and your video helps the truth & reality of a barber. I follow you on IG. Can you make a video of how to learn skills more as a beginner please? i’m only practicing on 2 people🥲
The best way I can tell you to get more practice in is to offer more free haircuts. And if that doesn’t help, try cutting the same 2 people every week it’s A LOT easier when you cut weekly and it’ll give you more positive reassurance that this is actually what you want to do.
