  • I purchased this guitar because I was looking for a small parlor guitar. Although this one is slightly larger than most small guitars, it was inexpensive so I thought I would try it. Retail price from Orangewood website was $ 135, but there was a first time ordering coupon that brought the price, including shipping, to $ 121.50. Shipping was timely and packaging was sufficient.
Overall I would rate this a 4 out of 5 stars, due to it being laminate and not wood finish.
Great beginner acoustic guitar for the price 👌

Great review! The reviewer was very knowledgeable, but was not a slick talking influencer, trying to justify themselves selling you a guitar. I also like the finish on the back of the neck and the body of the guitar. It's not a quarter inch thick poly coating. Great looking and sounding guitar, just don't hang on your wall Windy, you might have trouble finding it again. Just kidding, thanks for the great review. Much more believable than most reviewers.

Thank you. I have had the guitar for about a year now and still like it. After adjusting the truss rod a little, the strings are set and there's no banging due to it being too low. It's my go to guitar for practicing. 👏👏

Laminate woods are heavier due to the glue keeping the laminations together, these are not and have never been advertised as Parlor guitars, Parlors have very skinny upper and lower bout and often thicker bodies as well as classical guitar headstock and tuning keys. The sliding you hear is because it's an open pore finish as opposed to a high gloss but very durable.the nut and bridge are bone, mine doesn't intonate well when the low E string is fingered at the 3rd fret etc, but as you said, they're cheap.
    Enjoy!

Thank you. I had to adjust the truss rod significantly after contacting Orangewood about continuous buzzing on the 2nd and 3rd frets of the high E string. After I made that adjustment the buzz is gone and all of the strings sound great. You may want to contact Orangewood regarding your situation. I emailed them and they were very responsive and suggested truss rod adjustment first before trying anything else.

@@windysblog yea I've been playing fulltime for over 30 yrs, I bowed the neck perfectly, I will prob have to re-position the nut, I'm changing it out anyway they claim to use bone on their nut and saddle, if it is bone it's really cheap, I'll make it intonate by extending the fretboard about a 64th inch.

I like a good, laminated guitar. I live in Phoenix; Az and any solid top or all solid wood guitars have to be kept in a case with a humidifier. I had a Taylor GS Mini that I could never leave out because it would dry out. Then I took it to Chicago and the humidity there just turned it wonky. Laminated guitars, once you have them set up don't change. Always plays the same in my opinion. I ordered one of these and we'll see. This wonderful lady plays quite well, and it's a good video! Give her a break on the "Parlor guitar" business.

That's a mini, not a parlor guitar. Look at their Florence model..

According to their specs, this does have a bone nut and saddle, but it is laminated or layered wood. You won't find any guitars under $200 that are solid wood.
