- This Kaiserschmarrn recipe is so simple, I'm always amazed at how delicious it turns out. I've never been able to make it this well in a skillet, but with the OptiGrill's baking tray it's super quick and easy.
This recipe is from my OptiGrill recipe book for kids: amzn.to/3vn5bPS (affiliate link).
You only need 6 ingredients total and a few simple steps. If you like, you can stir raisins into the batter at the very end. I left them out because Kaiserschmarrn just tastes better to me without raisins.
What you need for 2-3 servings:
150 g flour
250 ml milk
3 eggs
70 g sugar
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Here's how:
Place the baking tray in the OptiGrill, select Manual mode and preheat it to Orange (220 °C).
Place 3 eggs and 70 g sugar in a bowl and beat in a food processor or with the beaters of a hand mixer until foamy.
In a second bowl, whisk together 150 g flour and 250 ml milk.
Using a dough scraper, carefully fold in the egg-sugar mixture to create a nice, fluffy batter.
Once the OptiGrill is heated up, put 1 tablespoon of butter in the baking tray.
Then pour the batter for the Kaiserschmarrn into the baking tray.
Bake the Kaiserschmarrn for 15 minutes. Be sure to keep the lid closed so that the dough can rise well.
After 15 minutes, open the lid and let the dough collapse briefly.
Pull the baked Kaiserschmarrn apart in the baking tray.
Then bake it for another 5 minutes.
Remove the Kaiserschmarrn from the baking tray and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar to serve.
