    The valley of your block looks awesome. Perfectly smooth

    Set the valves 1/4 turn up from the bottom. That way they pump up quick after bleed down and you get instant oil pressure.

    The long bolts need extra 5lb because they stretch more.

    Nice build! It's gonna run! What company made those valve covers? I would love to see a nice new Victor Jr rather than that 2 plane🙂

      Thanks Kevin! We got the valve covers from Skip White Performance. We'd love to run a single plane but we already had the dual plane from the last Big Block.

    Hope you put thread sealer on those head bolts.

    Being the heads were Aluminum, was there any Torquing difference ? Thankyou

    • @SchaapRacing
      @SchaapRacing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No torquing difference between aluminum and iron. The torquing number is determined by the stretch of the bolt or stud. ARP has stretch specs on their website along with torque specs. Hope that helps!

    Was there a specific reason you chose the smaller port Edelbrock head? Seems the power potential is limited you could get 650hp easy out of that 496 with a better flowing head.

      Yes, the only reason why we went with a smaller port heads was because we bought them to go on a smaller 414ci big block. When we decided to go a different route and build this 496, it was too late to return them so for budget reasons we just used those heads.

    What valve covers are you using?

    • @SchaapRacing
      @SchaapRacing  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Skip white’s generic aluminum valve covers

    How much hp and torque are you looking for with this build?

    • @SchaapRacing
      @SchaapRacing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Somewhere around 600 for both torque and horsepower.

      I know of a guy with a 13:8:1 compression 468, BIG solid roller, heavily ported edelbrock oval ports and ported edelbrock 454 O intake with a 4150 carb on gasoline. 8.95@3400 lbs. Low 900hp. Crazy.
