      Hope it works! Yes a lot goes into play for Assist Plus, again it HAS to be on the highway, has to be going under 40mph, and has to detect a traffic jam, then the bottom notification should give you the option to hit mode one more time for assist plus.
      Assist plus can also change lanes for some cars, i would also give that a shot to see if yours can do it too. Just push the turn indicator stick and it should do it by itself.

      Hey Prasad. You usually don’t have to use paddle shifters when going through hills but if you wanted to the best way would be to use the minus paddle to downshift so you have more power going up hill, then you can hit the plus paddle to go back to a efficient gear.

    How do I get any of these functions to work when I’m wearing sunglasses? EVERYTIME I activate Cruise/Distance Control much less Driver Assistance I get warnings that the system can’t view my eyes and then turns the system off and removes anything from the Control Screen. Given most instances that I’m using Cruise Control I’m wearing sunglasses but this ‘feature’ effectively negates my ability to use Cruise.
    What am I missing? How can I use Cruise (much less Distance Control or Assisted Driving) while wearing sunglasses?

    Very interesting and very helpful. Was intrigued by the title "Driving Assistance (Assistant?) Professional".
    My UK 440i/G22 (Nov 2021 build) has the option Driving Assistant Professional.
    Indicated in the vehicle's specification readout as 5AU FAHRASSISTANT PROFI
    However, there is NO mention of the ACTUAL term Driving Assistant Professional anywhere in the printed (or online) manual.
    Here it morphs into the term Assisted Driving Plus, which in turn is buried deep within the chapter(s) on Driver Assistance Systems.
    But I have a sneaky feeling that the Lane Change Assist is not active on my car and may require coding.
    I shall search out motorways / traffic to find out if the LCA functions.
    Regarding negative comments offered on the technology in this video, might I offer this.
    It's a case of the more knowledge and use you make of technology, the safer motoring becomes....provided of course you can trust it to operate in a fail-safe way.

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Grover thanks for the great comment. Yes I am starting to think some countries might not offer the LCA do to safety laws. I’ve had a couple people mention that they could not get it to work.
      And I agree. Technology has come a long way and yes although it might not be perfect it is making the roads more safe with all the safety features they are releasing, especially since drivers these days are being more and more distracted.
      I also love the drivers assist professional because it does make the BMW come to a full stop, vehicles that don’t have this feature requires you to still brake.

    • @MaryHGoudie
      @MaryHGoudie ปีที่แล้ว

      Grover would be good to know if it works on UK motorways. It certainly works fine here in Portugal. I'm planning a road trip to Scotland and would certainly use it on that long trip.

      We can't have the autostart (warm up) factory fitted here in the UK either due to our "vehicle unattended" law, by law we aren't even allowed to leave the engine running while we get out and scrape ice off the windows on a morning.

      It can get tricky at times, it also uses GPS to check to see if you're on the highway as well as detecting a traffic jam. I believe if you have the i4 with iDrive 8 it may work a bit different compared to the idrive 7 in this video. I believe the last time I tried it on idrive 8 the vehicle automatically went into ASSIST PLUS when the conditions were met, as long as you had the feature on.

    A bit of a lie that you don’t have to do anything in assist plus. If you are not looking almost dead straight it will disable. You only have 5 seconds before it warns you. And I was simply looking at the car to my 45 degree right. So, you do still have to be looking dead straight in assist plus. Which, honestly, might be worse than the regular mode.

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point and completely right. When I was testing it yes head movement is more strict than eye movement. I was able to look left to right a little bit here and there but if my head was turned for more than 5 seconds, it does give you a nice beep!

    If you need a video to tell you how to use something that you drive with every day, then the system is a disaster. Driving assist in all cars is bad. Speed control to give your feet a rest, good, drivers assist that can kill people, bad. It assumes that people will use it correctly, and that's ALWAYS a mistake.
