IS IT PLUG & PLAY? - Mopar Jeep JL Sky 1-Touch Power Top

- Sometime you find opportunities that you just can't pass up on Facebook Marketplace and this is one of those opportunities.
In this video myself and a fellow jeep owner will be swapping tops, replacing my Mopar Soft Top with a Mopar Sky 1-Touch Power Top. As we found out during this swap over installation, installing a Sky 1-Touch Powertop its actual a plug and play installation, no cutting or wiring required. This is only possible when you have two complete vehicle and have access to removing all the parts from one to add to the other.
Please note that to go this both jeep have to have come with a hardtop from the factory as a jeep that came with only a soft top from factory as it will be missing the wiring hardness.

Oh yeah I got lucky for sure, he was a great guy. He ended up buying a integrated tent top and is currently I think driving across the US. Last I saw he was in Texas.

My wife's 2022 392 came with it. I like the fact it opens the whole top. If it looks like rain boom 2 seconds, it's closed.
My 2019 Jeep JL already came with this Sky 1-touch version and after watch this video I’m feeling so lucky to don’t go through all this. Great reel.

Good luck with that! I have a Jeep Liberty with a "Sky Slider" roof. It's the first version of this. Jeep no longer services them and When (Not if) they break you either have to permanently seal it up or replace it with glass. I have found someone to work on it, but it's not the norm. The Liberty's Sky Slider, has leak issues and wind noise issues. I'm actually very surprised Jeep resurrected this idea, since they totally wrote off all the Liberty owners that have had problems with it. I wish you better luck with yours!

You definitely could but it's alot of work.
I know this comment is 3 months old but make sure when putting it back on the seals sit flush and are not folded over or smashed in a way not designed. Other wise you will have leaks.

Unfortunately I don't know the parts number for all the parts, as I was lucky enough to find the guy willing to sell it to me so we just swapped stuff over.
Thanks @evolvedjeepin for another fantastic mod and video tutorial. I have a hard 21 JLU Hard Top Sport Altitude. How would you compare the road noise from that of a Mopar Hard Top to a Sky One Touch? At the ned of the video you did mention plug and play… However, any need for a Tazer JL Mini to unlock these new mods?
The road noise is definitely a bit louder with the sky top because of the fabric top, but not that much. There is an aftermarket insulator that can buy but I haven't gotten around to that yet. Yeah it plug and play, the only thing that doesn't show up is a warning msg when I try and close the top above 50mph. If I use the tazer I could probably unlock that but I don't need it, as of right now it just stops.
Last question for you, in summary, to successfully install a Sky One Touch the parts you need are roof assembly, rear driver and passenger side glass with frame, rear glass with frame, front header panels with wiring harness, front brackets and bolt guides that are unique to Sky One Touch. This will be going on a Jeep that currently has a hard top. I’m driving 10 hours to get this top from a salvage yard and want to make sure I have all necessary parts.

Awesome video, was the Jeep you swapped the top with the same year? I can get a 2023 Sky One Touch to put on my 2019 JL but not sure if the wiring harnesses are the same. I have the part number for the wiring harness and it is only for a 2021-2023 Jeep JL. Curious to see what year his Jeep was and what year yours was.
Oh I have no clue what year his jeep was, I want to say his was newer than mine, which is a 2023. I would assume that a 2023 would be the same as 2019 as they only made changes in 2024.

I am driving 10 hours to pick one up from a 2023 that is being salvaged for parts and your video explains everything in detail and helped me request everything I need that they didn’t have quoted before (front header panels with wiring harness attached, brackets, quarter panels with glass and rear panel with glass). Dealership part departments couldn’t even tell me everything I would need. Much appreciation for such a thorough video.
A Jeep with hardtop already comes from factory with the sky touch button ready in the front rearview mirror?
Nope, you either have to switch out the panel about the mirrors with one that is meant for the skytop or add a switch to your current one.
Super awesome your jeep looks great. I’m considering swapping out my gladiator for a wrangler with this sky top. How do you like it so far after the swap - is it what you expected? Also like your tire and wheel combo would you mind sharing size and wheel info?
I love the sky top, when I had a soft top I always had it down but it was a pain to put back up. But the sky top is so easy and I get the same open top affect. For the wheel and tires I am currently running 38x13.5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 20x10 Fuel Rebar Wheel.

I’ve been looking for this particular roof for the longest time and cannot find it! I’m not sure if I’m putting the wrong thing or what, but this is the exact one I need if you can help me out on where I can find one! My back piece is damaged.
Try Facebook Marketplace place, Craigslist or auto wreckers. They are hard to find.
I have this top on mine, can't imagine why anyone would sell it. After 3 soft top jeeps prevously I won't look back. When you get the One touch from factory the top doesn't open or close above 60mph. I wonder if after swapping it on does yours give you a message on the dash can't open, high speed warning.
It didn't give me a msg on the dash, but it just stopped and then when I slowed down it worked fine.
@@evolvedjeepin The top has a force sensor in it from what I understand in the Manual. Its probably built in the top. Generally I don't open mine above 50mph and the top Will not work at 60mph at all. I'd check up the manual of the Jeep it has info on cold weather as well. Nice upgrade. Cool to see someone actually do this.
Did you say it would be more challenging if you were swapping a hard top with the sky one touch? Debating on switching out the hard top in my wife’s JL with the sky one touch in mine vs swapping out the seats because she has tan leather and I have black and she loves her tan leather seats.
No that is easy, that's what I did, just follow my video. It's plug and play.

Yeah good luck they are rare, so if you come across someone jump on it.. it's a well worth it system.

I think you can purchase it through the dealership, but they will probably tell you that it can't be added to your jeep and your jeep as to come with it from the factory. But obviously that is not true and it can be done if your jeep and a factory hardtop from the factory. I am not sure that the parts numbers are for this.

Either dealership or find a used one that someone is selling.

I found my used, I think if you were to buy it it would have to be from the dealership.
What soft top model is that?
It was the factory Mopar soft top and I replaced it with the Factory Mopar Sky One Touch hard top.
