Babymetal is Japanese, so it would be J-Pop not K-Pop. They are a fusion or J-Pop and Metal which they refer to as Kawaii (cute) Metal. The best I know megitsune is promounced meg-it-su-nay. Kitsune means fox which a lot of the Babymetal lore is based on. Megitsune is a female fox, vixen. The song is basically about how women are expected to act. smiling on the outside, crying on the inside. When Su displays the tanto (the mic knife) she is quoting a japanese gangster movie, where the gangster's daughter says "Maiden should not be underestimated"
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🦊 ⛩ [MOA] SU-METAL will slash you. Really. [YUI] Yeah. [SU] (laughs) (Megitsune video commentary from the BABYMETAL members) If we're going to break the syllables up correctly, it's "Meh-gee-tsoo-neh" (メギツネ). Su was 15. Yui and Moa were 13, almost 14 when this music video was released 10 years ago. The performers pretending to play the traditional Japanese instruments in this video are dancers with the Movement Design group. Chidori Yakumo is their director. She is the woman performing the fan dance during the breakdown. Definitely quintessential BABYMETAL and among their most Japanese songs. BABYMETAL's producer Koba sent this song back to the song arranger Yuyoyuppe dozens of times before he was satisfied with it. This one often tops fan polls, and has been performed live more than any other BABYMETAL song. It's still featured in the setlist on their current U.S. tour.
👍👍 I like this MV because it gives more insight into their message. I also learn so much from the comments from the fan base: for instance, one pointed out how at the beginning YUI and MOA pull on SU’s Japanese costume and the next scene she is transformed into SU-METAL. 🦊 🖖❤
This song or Kingslayer ft. Babymetal are the best. Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live is probably their best live show highlighting the kami band
Love your channel love this reaction please make sure you do a live version really doesn't matter which one they're all great make sure you put blocks in front of the videos😊
megit-tsoona might be how it's done phonetically :) If I'm not mistaken the masks are of a fox spirit called a Kitsune (kit-sooona). Typically, to my limited understanding, a source of good luck.
Welcome back, its been a long time since your first two BABYMETAL reactions. Great reaction - but they are not KPop. BABYMETAL are from Japan. The "K" in KPop stands for Korea, an entirely different country (and it upsets both nationalities when people mix them up). BABYMETAL started as a fusion of Metal with the JPop aesthetics, but they very quickly started mixing and blending many other genres and styles with the metal. They have about 70 songs now, each on different to the last. This song and video were recorded in 2013 - Su was 15, Yui and Moa were not quite 14. 'Megitsune' (Meg-its-oo-neh) is about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains all the fox masks in the video) which, in Japanese mythology, are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong. The melody used in the breakdown with the pig squeals in the middle of the song is from the very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms). When Su pulled out the tanto (short blade) from her microphone (she does a high kick in the live) she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss.
Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥 It seems you learned nothing from your other BM reactors and comments so better go back and read some basics before to said something like "I'm not sure..." whatever. See you next time 🦊🤘
