Megitsune is always on my list of top five favorite BabyMetal songs. This video is one of the very few BabyMetal songs where the official video is preferable to a live performance. That is because nothing Queen Su does on stage can match the shock you get the first time you see this young teenage girl draw the tanto from her microphone. This was an early one for me and the first BabyMetal video that intrigued me so much that I had to search out a translation of the lyrics.
Whoaaaa you just blew my mind. Yeah, the odds of me being around while Babymetal is around, and even knowing about them, is astronomically small (like Moa)
If you loved this, I recommend looking for a video called "Megitsune Metrock 2015" to watch this song being performed in front of the most amazing crowd ever.
_Sore!_ 🦊🤘🔥 4:38 lmao Now that you know the original trio you can watch the live version at Budokan 2014 and later live at Budokan 2021 with the new formation. Keep enjoying BM songs.🦊🤘🔥
I like Su's performance a lot in the 2021 Budokan. It's a bummer it is during covid restrictions or the fans would have been shouting like they usually do.
Glad you liked this one. This is maybe my favorite of all BM songs, it's hard to pick just one though. This is the song that really hooked me on Babymetal though, and I still love it.
Awesome reaction! I really do hope you can see a live performance of this song, preferably when Yui was still in the group (so pre-2018). It will blow you away all over again! I was in exactly your position about 10 years ago. Today, I listen to their latest album The Other One on Spotify. All day. Everyday. Since the day it came out, 4 months ago.
The part that you say you can listen to for days…dude…just wait til you experience that live. Literally the most fun moment of my life was seeing them for the first time live in Berlin and getting to scream SORE!!!! with Babymetal and the crowd. (Also, do you check your Patreon?)
Everything about this song is perfect. It is so infectious. The Music Video is so well done that it is a must to see. Live is always a must but this Official Music Video is just too good. Super energetic and cute. Love the visuals. Seeing the girls having fun, slipping around the halls. Moa's adorable slide @5:24. This is BABYMETAL. You should also watch the girls own commentary video on this a few years later. It is beyond cute and heart warming. Moa can't help herself from singing along at times. 🤘🦊🤘
Make every studio album, seriously. Their studio work deserves to be heard and honored too. Then you react to the live videos that also have a hell of a lot! You will not regret! 🤘🦊
Excellent reaction, I'm so pleased you chose to do this ... and that is had that effect on you. This is possibly one of the best reactions to 'Megitsune' I've seen (and I've seen them all ... many are also excellent of course, why wouldn't they be, it is such an incredible song). 'Megitsune' is a difficult song to sing - so Su-metal uses it for sound checks and to check how she is sounding before concerts. It often tops fan polls for favourite song (so you are not alone) and they have played it live more often than any other song. It is arguably the song that showcases best what BABYMETAL are about and one that truly reflects their Japanese culture the best starting with the traditional instruments (shamisen) in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes🦊 (kitsune - which also explains the fox masks everywhere in the video) which, in Japanese mythology, are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. It is also a bit of a push back against the traditional female role in Japanese society I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength. They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are megitsune 🦊(female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong. The breakdown in the middle of the song (that has pig squeal screams, they are more obvious in the studio recording) uses the exact melody of an old and very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms). When Su pulled the short blade from her mic she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss. Much of the video was shot on location at the Asagaya Shinmei Shrine in Tokyo. This has become a place of pilgrimage for BABYMETAL fans visiting Tokyo. There are so many great live versions of 'Megitsune' - you owe it to yourself (and to us if it will have the same sort of effect on you) to react to at least one of those. A personal favourite of mine was live at the Red Fox Festival in 2017 where they had an all female audience - it just works so well with this song - but live at Budokan Black Night is good, for better audience participation (but missing out on the Kami Band) live at legend 1997 is very good too. Live at Saitama Super Arena in January 2015 has everything .... I could go on.🤘🦊🤘
Excellent reaction, thanks! It looks like we were keeping the best for later but you found it by yourself. Good job! 😁 "Don't end! No, don't end!" Don't worry, you can play it on repeat. 😜 Yes, we know... "Megitsune" is on another level and it's one of the most loved songs by fans and their most performed one: 277 times till date and they are playing it at almost every concert. This is my favorite song ever (alongside "Akatsuki", but that's another story). And, by the way: "Akatsuki" (Live at Budokan Black Night): th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html Until next time! 🤘🦊
I loved your face of fascination during the reaction lol Reminds me of when I fell in love with the band 💞 Megitsune is a fan favorite and their most played song in live shows :)

This is my favorite BABYMETAL song as well which is not exactly an original opinion, but it's hard to argue with perfection...I might also even agree that this is my favorite song or all-time. I'm glad you also enjoyed it and hope you choose to share a reaction to a live version with us at some point (I'll throw my suggestions of Super Saitama 2015 for the atmosphere or Budokan 2021 for the sound quality...but honestly they're all great).
The fact that this is the second debut song of theirs following “Babymetal Death” says something. Their first song on record is officially declaring “We are Babymetal” in the must puntastic and metal way possible, then transitions to this song. That breakdown in the middle with the squeal and the melodic instrumentals slowly phasing in on top with her singing closely following behind makes that part so damn haunting. The chorus is also beautiful yet also subtly tragic in its tone.
I'm starting a "save a Baby Metal reactor" campaign. Everyone is assigned the duty of introducing one Baby Metal (or other new popularJapanese metal bands) reactor to X Japan, that will help get them closer to having the recognition they deserve, (outside of Japan of course, where they are bigger than Elvis).
Hey dude I know exactly what u mean by saying "appreciate the fact that at the same time BabyMetal is around". I just love BabyMetal and the passion, the love and power thy support us with. It´s a driving force which is fun 2 absorb 🥰
Great reaction🤘 We are lucky we can still see Babymetal live. One day you might visit Japan and see the shrine where they took this MV in Asagaya Tokyo😄 Welcome, the Fox Hole is deep and fun.
Megitsune is a fan favourite for a reason. Great react! Some facts: Megitsune means vixen, as in, female fox. So, they say that they might be the perfect woman, but they're not foxes, but vixen, in the sense that they're not decieving nor mischievous. Another fact, when Su says "(otome wa) Nametara Ikan Zeyo" and pulls a knife (tanto) out of her mic, it's a reference to an old movie about the Yakuza. It means "(maidens) shouldn't be underestimated". And in the movie the girl who says it, procedes to kill someone who was bugging her. This the song that dragged me down the fox hole.... I was lured in by the fun edm sound.... and stayed for the terrifying pig squeal, and the beautifully haunting classic Japanese dance and song when Su started singing in black and white....This is Babymetal. 🤘🦊🤘🤘🦊🤘
I like this MV because it gives more insight into their message. I also learn so much from the comments from the fan base: for instance, one pointed out how at the beginning YUI and MOA pull on SU’s Japanese costume and the next scene she is transformed into SU-METAL. 🖖❤
5:49 Days? Try years. I recently saw a reaction to Gimme Chocolate from four years ago. The reactor said how many views it had and I compared it to how many views it currently had. The view rate, averaged per year, actually increased.
I always recommend this song over anything else, but the fanboys for their other songs too OP. This should be everyones first time Babymetal experience 🦊
If anybody has not seen his Metalizm reaction, you need to find it. Metalizm was a great choice as your first reaction. I'm pretty sure you are the only reactor who chose that one as the first. You go through such a range of emotions in just the first few seconds. The very first beat was a shock, then you had genuine fear for a few moments, and when Su started singing you thought "this is getting serious", next the standard Babymetal confusion set in and you didn't even believe it was real, then after you realized just how shockingly real it was, TOTAL JOY! Then in amazement you forgot to blink for 90 seconds.... And that comment right before signing off put the Angel on the Tree. It was the most real reaction I've ever seen. You are ready now. These two are the heavy hitters. I am on my knees begging you, please, please, do no other versions than these two. This is an official live version.of the closiing song of the very first (30 minute) concert they did outside of Japan. It is safe to assume that over 95 percent of the crowd here had never even heard of BabyMetal before this day. BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) Literal title translation is " Bullying No Good Absolutely" th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html _____ Next, turn on the subtitles for their true masterpiece... Babymetal - Karate (Fox Festival 2017 Live) Eng Sub. th-cam.com/video/Ey1D9dvDyBc/w-d-xo.html The official version of Karate is a big mistake as a first reaction, it will put a fly in your eye.
Syncopation then Distortion Then you MIGHT be ready for “Babymetal Death - Legend 1997”. That’s the one where BM makes all other death metal bands obsolete..
HAPPY METAL😁What you are feeling now is the culture of MOE, which has been handed down in Japan since time immemorial, and is their righteousness and ultimate weapon, KAWAII!
This is probably the most 'BABYMETAL' out of all the BABYMETAL songs. 10 years later it holds up and feels as iconic as any classic rock song I can think of.
Literally the 3rd song ever released by them and it still holds up today. You gotta find a recent live version....Budakon 2020. Crowd participation heaven. The song I'm most looking forward to when I see them in September......twice 🤘🦊🤘
It was their 6th or 7th song (the first after they split from Sakura Gakuin), but everything else was entirely correct - have a great time at the concerts (and you are almost guaranteed to hear and enjoy this at both shows) 🤘🦊🤘
This song is easily in my top 5, I like the video more than the live version (I know blasphemy) but I somehow can't escape the charm :D. Sore! Sore! Sore!... 🤘🦊🤘
This song is my favorite too, you can also check live, some of them as subtitltes 👍 About how to bring other into BM, maybe 'Line' is not a good track, non initiatedmay find it too strange 🙂
Instead of the steralised MVs you could watch a live version of Babymetal Death legend of 97, where they crucucfy the lead singer on her 16th birthday, decapitate a statue of the virgin Mary accompanied by the heaviest death metal you have ever heard while a huge crowd chant DEATH for 7 minutes. You are not seeing the real Babymetal until you watch them live. If We are driving this train why are you continuing to watch MVs instead of LIVE.
hey man! nice and 100% understandable reaction ;) but i'm a bit worried. that almost sounded like you will now go to hear this song 24/7. i really can understand that since i had the same experience with PaPaYa and a few more from Babymetal. but does that mean no more new reactions? 😂👍 have fun enjoying this "new favourite" song (saw a lot of reactions and comments saying "every new song i hear from BM is my new favorit")
How did you take that away from his reaction? He literally said, after this he would give the choice of songs back to the fans. I will repeat my comment from another reaction, and recommend he checks out the studio version first.
@@Hgoenge81 thanks for explaining what no one needed to get explained....... how obvious you need it to understand an ironic comment (i added 😂👍)?!? do i really have to write "CAUTION! IRONY!" everytime...?
Great reaction! You are enjoying BM to the fullest! It makes me happy to see it😚 There are some songs whose music videos should be seen first, and Megitsune is one of them. After this, please take a look at the live version. Megitsune is still always in the set list of live performances, so you can see many different live versions of the song. Megitsune is a female fox. For the Japanese, Kitsune (fox) is a special animal compared to other animals. Please take a look at the wiki under the "kitsune" section. And you should go to the BM gigs! Either the upcoming US tour or the EU tour is fine. You can also take the plunge and go to a live show in Japan. From Japan🦊
Great reaction This is my favorite BABYMETAL song

A decade after this video, Megitsune it's still part of almost every concert, fans all over the world love it and sing along the "SORE! SORE! SORE! 🙂
To me, this is the quintessential Babymetal song. At least for the earlier period of the band.
My favorit reaction 😂😂🔥

This song IS BABYMETAL! 🤘🦊🤘
Megitsune:-
"Megitsune" (メギツネ, "Vixen") is the second major label single by the Japanese kawaii metal band Babymetal. It was released in Japan on June 19, 2013 as the fifth single from the album Babymetal. It is also the first single released independently from the idol group Sakura Gakuin.
The single was first announced for a June release on April 1, 2013. The single was released in four versions: a standard edition and three limited editions. The "Ki", "Tsu", and "Ne" (Kitsune means "fox" in Japanese) limited editions included single artwork focused on Nakamoto, Mizuno, and Kikuchi respectively, and their included DVDs feature footage of two songs from each of the live performances from Live: Legend I, D, Z Apocalypse. Additionally, the single included a chance to contain a ticket to the premium event Kitsune Festival at Meguro Rock May Kan on July 14, 2013.
To promote the release, the band was featured in the June issue of Marquee and on the cover of the July issue of Hedoban, in addition to collaborating with Tower Records for the 34th rendition of the event No Music, No Idol?.
Babymetal concert chronology:-
•Babymetal Death Match Tour 2013: May Revolution (2013)
•Babymetal World Tour 2014 (2014).
The Babymetal Death Match Tour 2013: May Revolution (BABYMETAL DEATH MATCH TOUR 2013 -五月革命-, Babymetal Death Match Tour 2013 -Gogatsu Kakumei-) was a promotional concert tour by Babymetal, occurring in conjunction with the promotion of "Megitsune". The band performed four shows, with two on the final tour date, at the same venue. Customers who purchased tickets to the tour could receive an exclusive edition of the single, with a remix by Yuyoyuppe, under the name DJ'Tekina//Something.
According to Mizuno, the tour was designed to be a "training tour". During each of the four shows the three members wore stage costumes for the eras of "Doki Doki ☆ Morning" (which had become nostalgically small for them), "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!", and "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", respectively, with the final show premiering new costumes for "Megitsune".

I loved your face of fascination during the reaction lol
Reminds me of when I fell in love with the band 💞
Megitsune is a fan favorite and their most played song in live shows :)
Great reaction!
Everyone is assigned the duty of introducing one Baby Metal (or other new popularJapanese metal bands) reactor to X Japan, that will help get them closer to having the recognition they deserve, (outside of Japan of course, where they are bigger than Elvis).
The breakdown in this song is just naaaaasty. This song hooked me. Along with karate. Than it got even better.
This song is in the top five (or top three) list of any babymewtal fan...
Upbeat metal is just addictive. Man, you could really enjoy Syncopation, Shanti and Metalizm too

Welcome, the Fox Hole is deep and fun.
Megitsune is a fan favourite for a reason.
Great react!
Some facts:
Megitsune means vixen, as in, female fox.
If you didn't noticed it yet, Babymetal has this lore about the Fox God, and how it chose the girls to be His representative and bring us good music, in a more short than correct way.
In Japanese culture, foxes are mischievous creatures, that sometimes could turn into "the perfect woman" and allure travelers, just to toy with them.
The lyrics say that nowadays women have to be perfect, even if it comes at the cost of putting up a facade ("laughing face, crying heart" it says).
It's an impact phrase, much like "say hello to my little friend" was, to keep to the mafia theme.
Now, with that out of the way... Maybe you should try "Karate" next, to stick with "classic" Babymetal.
Or if you're feeling adventurous, try "Sis. Anger"... That one is a punch in the gut.
Just like "BMC" is.

5:49 Days?
Excellent choice! What a great reaction. Karate next?!👍🦊🤘
One of my top 3 Babymetal songs also.
Rondo of Nightmare for something older
Mirror Mirror for something newer
Hope you love it!
04:34 they short circuited his brain lol
Yea, this one hits hard and deep, especially if you have already heard some of them
You choose well, it's the top Babymetal song by fans, Gimme Choco is the one that went viral, Megitsune is the one song performed live the most too.
Their might be no wrong answer, but their are best answers for different people.
BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) Literal title translation is " Bullying No Good Absolutely" th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html _____
Next, turn on the subtitles for their true masterpiece... Babymetal - Karate (Fox Festival 2017 Live) Eng Sub. th-cam.com/video/Ey1D9dvDyBc/w-d-xo.html
The official version of Karate is a big mistake as a first reaction, it will put a fly in your eye.
Some horses run at just the shadow of the whip...you're one of those 🤗🤗
Your face just looked like Republican Mitch McConnell's face in the middle of that breakdown. 😂
メギツネめっちゃ気に入った感じですね🤘🦊
Syncopation then Distortion
Then you MIGHT be ready for “Babymetal Death - Legend 1997”. That’s the one where BM makes all other death metal bands obsolete..
HAPPY METAL😁What you are feeling now is the culture of MOE, which has been handed down in Japan since time immemorial, and is their righteousness and ultimate weapon, KAWAII!
Don't commit to this being your favorite because it will change I don't got a favorite song they are all my favorites
This is probably the most 'BABYMETAL' out of all the BABYMETAL songs. 10 years later it holds up and feels as iconic as any classic rock song I can think of.
You like the breakdown 😂 ? mee too ❤
Naaa man your new favorite song is BM Death… go for Death Legend 1997.. it’s fantastic.
Yes yes yes!
Sore! Sore! Sore!... 🤘🦊🤘
This song is my favorite too, you can also check live, some of them as subtitltes 👍
About how to bring other into BM, maybe 'Line' is not a good track, non initiatedmay find it too strange 🙂
I think you might be my Babymeatl twin. Crying will come, just accept it
Instead of the steralised MVs you could watch a live version of Babymetal Death legend of 97, where they crucucfy the lead singer on her 16th birthday, decapitate a statue of the virgin Mary accompanied by the heaviest death metal you have ever heard while a huge crowd chant DEATH for 7 minutes. You are not seeing the real Babymetal until you watch them live. If We are driving this train why are you continuing to watch MVs instead of LIVE.
I see why its called Play Again... Lol
hey man! nice and 100% understandable reaction ;)
but i'm a bit worried. that almost sounded like you will now go to hear this song 24/7. i really can understand that since i had the same experience with PaPaYa and a few more from Babymetal. but does that mean no more new reactions? 😂👍
have fun enjoying this "new favourite" song (saw a lot of reactions and comments saying "every new song i hear from BM is my new favorit")
Oh no I'm just getting started!
This was always going to be a stop. They're ALL a stop. #notacult omg, I love watching people hearing that breakdown for the first time.
🍅💀🍅
🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Sore ! Sore ! Sore ! SoreSoreSoreSore!! !!!
Great reaction!
You are enjoying BM to the fullest! It makes me happy to see it😚
There are some songs whose music videos should be seen first, and Megitsune is one of them.
From Japan🦊
Is that videography great... OR WHAT ! ?
👍 👍
Good MV (great actually) but once again you need to react to the LIVE performance (Megitsune LIVE at Budokan 2021 is a good one).
