Amazing TV. But been having issues with picture settings on movies in particular for months. Reached out to LG and they're so slow to help. So it was the gamma/judder etc. Brilliant video and you've stopped so much anxiety. Thankyou. Subbed.
9:57 Real Cinema was greyed out and actually not "ON". It was like this because TruMotion was on and set to User. If you turn off TM, then the RC option becomes selectable and is able to be toggled On or Off. If you toggle it off, then turn TM back on to User/Clear/Smooth you will see that RC is greyed out once again, but now it says "Off" because it gets greyed out and shows whatever the setting was in before TM was activated.
@@Madness-te7dr Trumotion is. Real cinema doesn't eliminate judder. So, the thing about eye comfort modes is that they basically eliminate all blue light to try and reduce eye-strain. But that obviously messes with the white balance and colors. Unfortunately, there won't be a way to get the correct white balance with eye comfort mode on. Sorry about that!
Could you do this with best 2021 lg oled model. Also is there anything bad with having ultra hd deep color on for systems that don’t support hdr? And is there any downsides changing input icon to pc (4:4:4) for any devices being plugged into tv?
If you use the PC icon then some functionality and options that you may want to use are removed. For example I set my PS5 to 'bluray player' that way I get 4:4:4 when I play games but also get to use real cinema or trumotion when watching 4k films or amazon. You can't do that in PC mode.
Can you help me? What is the difference between the HDMI PC and GAME mode? Some people say that the PC MODE is better (and I don't know why) I just set my Xbox One S directly on TV but the input HDMI is on GAME CONSOLE MODE, should I change to PC MODE?
was thinking about buying the tv but i discovered you have this thing called abl which you can't turn off. is there a way to disable it to stop the fluctuation in brightness from scene to scene? sounds anoying and would certainly be a deal breaker for me. cheers
If I have a full surround sound system multiple gaming consoles and 4k Blu-ray, should I ideally use a different hdmi from each source output from receiver to tv to avoid constantly changing settings
That's a personal preference, but if you have multiple gaming consoles and don't have any specific bandwidth/port requirements then yes it might be easier to hook them up to different ports so you can just switch inputs to go from one console to the other.
Love my CX and PS5 on it but I have faint horizontal lines in certain games/apps and it sounds like it is a normal problem for the TV in certain games (bright sky boxes). Looks great otherwise and they need to fix the last update.
I've had my CX for 2 months now and have seen pretty much every video on picture settings. For me, I find many of these recommendations unhelpful. What I do is adjust OLED light, contrast, color, white balance. I like the picture a little bit brighter, with a little more color saturation and contrast than most of these people apparently do. It doesn't make that much difference which mode you start out with in my experience (cinema, expert, etc) if you focus on these main settings. But as this man says, watch a movie or show you are familiar with and make the adjustments until you find what you like, irrespective of what the experts say.
can you share your settings please? ive upgraded from the samsung q7 and find the hd picture on my cx (coming from my sky q box) no as good as my samsung. id say my cx is displaying somewhere inbetween sd and hd compared to the samsung. dont get me wrong though hd from the apps on the cx is brilliant.
@@dazzatheman01 I use Expert Bright Room, OLED LIGHT 100, CONTRAST 100, SHARPNESS 20, WHITE BALANCE--COLOR TEMP, WARM 1. Leave everything else as is. Start from there. This is all personal preference.
How is "logo luminence setting" to be interpretd? Does high mean it will dim a lot and prevent more burn in? or does low mean it will dim low and prevent more burn in?
'High' is more aggressive prevention, so it can be more noticeable (eg. when watching spots the static areas of the screen can visibly dim), but it should also result in better burn-in prevention.

So, the thing about eye comfort modes is that they basically eliminate all blue light to try and reduce eye-strain. But that obviously messes with the white balance and colors. Unfortunately, there won't be a way to get the correct white balance with eye comfort mode on. Sorry about that!
I will be connecting my Mac mini and it will be on all day should I worry about burn in should I get led
Do u recommend using super high resolution or have it off?
Saved for when I pick up an LG CX 55 or LG G1 EVO 55 in May
Yup. I just ordered my CX 77" and expect to receive it in 2-3 weeks. Great advice on setting up the TV on this site.
What about the audio settings? Which is the best?
Logo luminance adjustment.
Does it limit just the logo or does it lower the full screen brightness?
Any chance you could do a picture settings video for Sony A8H ?
the big smile on the presenter says it all :)
@@hoteltango1 helpe me
Should the real cinema option only be activated with 24hz scource? What about normal TV scource with 50hz....real cinema off or on?
Thanks guys, you’r awesome!
Shouldn't "Filmmaker Mode" be the most accurate for movies? I thought that was the whole point of it. Disables all features that alter the picture.
hello eco mode modality of energy damages tv or not
This really is a very well explained video. Thank you very much!
was thinking about buying the tv but i discovered you have this thing called abl which you can't turn off. is there a way to disable it to stop the fluctuation in brightness from scene to scene? sounds anoying
and would certainly be a deal breaker for me. cheers
ikr? why the hell can it not be disabled, I rarely get super white scenes anyways so saving tv life doesn't matter
No matter what TV I have, when I go with your target 2.2 gamma the picture is always washed out and I have to switch to 2.4
should you also lower contrast and brightness to reduce burn in?
No because those settings affect how accurate the picture is. You should only adjust OLED light and what you find under “OLED screen saver”
Your not telling us much you say for sport out tru motion on yes and what settings in there ?
CORRECTION
ON NANO886 YOU NEED TO PRESS 3 OR 4 TIMES( NOT LONG PRESS) TO SHOW RESOLUTION INFO
Love my CX and PS5 on it but I have faint horizontal lines in certain games/apps and it sounds like it is a normal problem for the TV in certain games (bright sky boxes). Looks great otherwise and they need to fix the last update.
Sounds like vertical banding mate, every OLED has it
Thanks , some useful tips for my 65" 😉
i have this tv and when i watch hockey it blinking during game play any idea what it would be
What about energy saving mode for brightness? Should it be kept on auto to prevent burn in?
There are other functions against burn in already. To fully enjoy the TV, turn energy saving off
How come my OLED CX Doesnt have Expert Dark Room for HDR (onlu Cinema Home or Cinema OR Filmmaker Mode). Any help here?
The isf picture modes are only availible in SDR. If you go to 8:36 of the video, you can see all the modes listed in HDR (we use Cinema).
I was watching horizon zero dawn gameplay trailer...I was seeing motion blur in youtube gameplay trailer...are these motion blur regular or what?
Very good video, but what about the aspect ratio, can I switch to 21:9 or some other resolution.
Tks for this great tutorial. Which GPU are you using on this video? Tks again!
@@RTINGSdotcom thank you!
I don't seem to be able to get the 'expert' picture setting on my tv, does anyone know why this might be?
just bought , yet to program . Can voice change picture from standard to zoom etc.?
You need more info because this doesn't help me. when I activated the g sync setting's im stuck at 8 bit instead of 10. Also it's ycbr not rgb and the color range is stuck at limited. What am I doing wrong? I'm connected to a 2080 ti and using a hdmi thats 8k capable. This is driving me crazy and I can't fix it. Please help.
Your 2080Ti is limited to HDMI 2.0 bandwidth, so if you're trying to set it to 4k @ 120Hz, you will be limited to 8 bit with chroma subsampling.
@@RTINGSdotcom I would suggest adding in something telling viewers that.
Especially if you need a 30 series that people can’t get their hands on currently.
Also mine says ycbcr420 and not RGB.
Why no testing with MacOS?
Interesting you guys set sharpness to 0 for sdr, but leave it at 10 for hdr. Any reason why? Same goes for Dolby vision
We suggest leaving HDR settings alone most of the time. There is no set standard for HDR content as it varies across displays. Generally the manufacturers try to optimize their TVs with the default HDR settings.
@@RTINGSdotcom thank you for replying I appreciate it lots!
I often use the browser to watch news (i.e Bloomberg) as it does not have the apps that we can install in the TV. However, while watching the news it oftens turn to screensaver if I don't move the cursor. Can anyone share how to turn this screen saver off? Thanks
If you go to the settings, then system, then advanced settings you should see a 'screensaver' menu and then the option to turn it off. Hope this helps!
