    Amazing video. I use all the same settings however have slight adjustments to sharpness at 15 (over 10), and also use cinema clear (light motion) on all sources. I find this mix has worked the best for me. Sharpness being a little higher seems to improve text and numerals in regards to better legibility

    • @TVguyDarko
      @TVguyDarko  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - it contains 2 point white balance controls but mainly for information. Color settings are completely individual and same goes for 10/20/22 point white balance values and that’s the reason they are not included. All my tests have shown that you can do more harm by copying those values than to keep the default values.

    Question: I have a PS5. I watch Netflix on it and obviously also game on it. Do I have to switch picture modes when I switch from gaming to Netflix? Like go from game picture mode using your settings to Cinema picture mode using your settings?

    • @itguru2037

      @AyyItsNovak 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itguru2037 Thanks for the reply! One more question! For HDR settings, when Darko says Cinema/Filmmaker Picture Mode does he mean just leave it at that and don’t tweak setting. Same for Dolby Vision. When he mentions Dolby Vision, all he says is “Cinema Picture Preset”. So does that mean I use that preset with no tweaks at all too?

Also, is there any way to lower the brightness of welcome/title screens in TH-cam, Netflix, etc? I have the impression that no matter what I do, the red colour is burning my eyes (other colours too). Hi Rick - settings files provide general recommendations for optimum picture, but for 2020 TVs haven't been updated since I no longer have access to that TV. In any case, Black level should be set to Auto for the display to properly show input signal range and the issue of raised blacks if it is solved will be properly displayed with this setting.

    Just purchased a GX 77” and I’m having trouble engaging BFI. It’s grayed out and I cannot access its settings. Also, after first watch and evaluation I noticed some vertical banding on the left side of the screen with a faint black line down its center at certain high luminance levels. It seems to have dissipated after some use and now hard to detect. Is this just the pixels adjusting and settling in since it’s so new or should I be worried and replace the panel while I still can. Also, have you noticed any raised blacks while watching DV content in the Cinema or Cinema home picture modes? It was recommended to lower the brightness from 50 to 48-49 to counteract this. Thanks!

    • @TVguyDarko
      @TVguyDarko  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for subscribing! Ideally sharpness should be checked with test patterns in native resolution to see at which value TV is additing artificial sharpening on objects. This is my goal when I calibrate and assest the picture, but I always say - if you picture looks better for you, increase it a bit - not too much, but in your case value of 20 sounds good.

      I agree with SD channels, the Sharpness needs to come up a notch when compared to watching 4K and higher FPS content. For standard TV, I use sharpness at 20, and generally carry 20 across to other sources too, except for high quality 4k sources where sharpness can come back down to 10 or 15. I am not a calibrator, however have played around with the setting for around 100hours now (LG CX 2020)

    • @brandon9638
      @brandon9638 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Per reddit:
      "It’s definitely a warp and not the anti reflection. Unfortunately it’s all part of the panel lottery. It’s caused by the top sheet (be it either glass or plastic) being so thin and the tension around the edges holding it in place. It only needs the slightest amount of difference in tension at one point around the edge for that area to get a slight warp. The chances of getting a pure flat panel at this build quality is probably as low as 20%. As long as the image is not affected it is considered acceptable, and unlikely to be a candidate for replacement unless you can make a very convincing argument that you can not live with it."

    8:30 I didn't understand, if I put de blur to 10 the TV will interpolate every content to 120fps/hz? And then, in particular what is the difference between ed blur and de judder?

    • @TVguyDarko
      @TVguyDarko  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you put De blur to 10 you will see the most details in motion as the panel will work at 120 Hz. For movies in 24p that means that each frame will be displayed 5 times. In this mode TV will not create new frames but just repeat the existing ones, so there will not be soap opera effect present. Soap opera effect - where TV will create new frames to make the image smoother will occur if you increase De judder control. That's why it is recommended to only increase De Blur to avoid unnatural looking movie content.
