Poor Andrew was struggling to sell this product to us. The box looked white, the booklet looked white, the poster looked white and the records looked white. Reminded me of the emperor's new clothes!

So Andrew, despite already owning this in its original form, I decided to put it on my Record Store Day list, along with Paul and Ringo’s offerings. So I called my local independent record store, Newbury, and they have exactly 1 coming into the shop. Why? Because the price for this box is $449USD!! Nope. I didn’t order Paul’s Singles Box for $600, and I’m not buying this. I’d love to own it, but $449 buys a lot of groceries. 😉
Looks like the text is spot varnish - probably need side lights to bounce of so that they can show - see SDE videos for example.(Paul often points out the nice spot varnish)

I’m usually in Oslo, Norway for RSD, and once in Gothenburg, Sweden. This year I’m in Denmark and have to travel south to the far smaller town of Aalborg, they have ONE store taking part. McCartney, Pearl Jam, Blur and something called Dirty Projectord with Björk are the ones I hope to get my mits on this year. What an amazing gift from the Lennon Estate. And very good point that this is an extremely limited edition, but it’s a limited edition of an existing wider release. So no fans are left out. I know this is one I doubt any record store in my area will get. But I have high hopes for scoring some Macca and Ringo on RSD! Those are more in my budget also.
@@juliahartley-barnes975 I wouldn’t really call it a cash grab. You can still get the 4 LP set at Target for $87. All the same music, just different packaging. This is more a collectors item. A premium package.

The only difference between 1500 @ $449 and 5000 @ $299USD is the abhorrent eBay prices beginning on the 23rd. At least Red Rose Speedway half speed is going wide in early May, killing the eBay gougers instantly. (Though Paul did the same thing with the singles box. eBay sellers are fetching $3000 for it. $600 just for the crate 🙄 ) I understand your point. But really, I’d love to know why they decided to make something so limited at such a high cost. For $299 I’d buy one.

I would love to have this on white vinyl , but when it’s so limited to 1500 world wide and with that stupid price tag , this is going to kill vinyl off for good , they have got to be more realistic on pricing vinyl . Thanks John, honestly I wasn't planning to buy it. It's a luxury product with a luxury price tag and I personally have to limit myself to those box sets that offer plenty of new musical content (Lennon Ultimate Mix boxes. McCartney Archive Collections, Beatles remix boxes etc). This is there for those who can go beyond that.

Hi Andrew, congratulation for getting this for free courtesy of the Lennon Camp, you're a very lucky boy. I would have been in for this but at £400 it's a stretch too far for me. I have the 2020 LP and CD boxes , so more of a very nice to have than an essential. Having said that it looks really great but for me, the premium factor would have been getting it from the Lennon's.

I have the Blue vinyl Target (Department Store here in America) exclusive pressing of the double album version. Mine didn’t have the goodies included, but the hype sticker never claimed to have them. So, for me, this isn’t really a required buy.

Hi Andrew, nice that you got one - I put this in the same category as the McCartney singles box, however I deemed that reasonable value, this does seem a bit overpriced and not good value particularly as many fans will have already purchased the 4LP gimme some truth box set like I did - so an exact duplication in comparable remastered sound - this is a hard pass for me, but again stress that it is marvellous that you got one of these bad boys - well deserved 👍

Hi Andrew. Wow you're very fortunate to have scored that set. It's quite a stunning release. Unfortunately it's also VERY overpriced and I suspect it's all due to (a) its novelty value & especially (b) RSD hype. As a rule I avoid RSD like the plague. I even made a video 'rant' about this a couple of years back. RSD should stand for 'Really Shonky Deals' given how exhorbitant they are. I have a large vinyl collection having been collecting since my teens. As it is I don't need a Record Store Day. New-vinyl prices are absolutely ridiculous. The only time I buy it is for special the Beatles sets. Yes I also bought the recent Stones Mono vinyl box but I can see the value in that one. Having said all that, I hope you have an enjoyable RSD and find what you're after. Cheers mate. 😊👍
It's a lovely set ..Sean is looking after his dad's estate wonderfully. However as pretty and as good as this set is...a few tracks aside would really annoy me flipping over every 5 or 10 minutes! Thanks for the look though Andrew!

I think that's rather grand. I'd take one home with me. Unfortunately, based on my previous RSD experiences, I doubt I'll see this or Red Rose Speedway in the wild. Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but I loathe RSD. Its just a relentlessly disappointing FOMO-fueled goat rope that serves mainly as a pipeline for flippers. no one does how the songs / vinyl sound anymore , all we get is unboxings...but i do understand that weve heard the music millions of times, but every release now is just the same music, just dressed differently. musically, have we reached saturation point ?

Does the Lennon camp often add plastic innerr sleeves? I've been wanting McCartney to start doing that my whole life!
I think it's the first Lennon vinyl I have with these sleeves, but there's plenty of releases I don't have so not sure if they've done it before.

Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but I loathe RSD. Its just a relentlessly disappointing FOMO-fueled goat rope that serves mainly as a pipeline for flippers. Still, best of luck to you and all who seek this Saturday.

no one does how the songs / vinyl sound anymore , all we get is unboxings...but i do understand that weve heard the music millions of times, but every release now is just the same music, just dressed differently. musically, have we reached saturation point ?
