Trust me, I don't think they ever had a bad song on any of their albums. And if you notice how as they made new albums the music changed into another level higher than the previous one. And they did it in such a short time. It's like they had all these lyrics and melodies hidden in their minds and they were just waiting to be let free to sing them. And their songs are so emotional that everyone can relate to them. That's what made them so liked, because it was like they were singing about us. Their songs started out as pretty simple rock and roll songs, and then morphed into something from outer space. Enjoy your journey through the many songs of the Beatles. You'll never get bored.

@Hugh Jones It's the same backing track as the single but the vocals are live. It's a unique performance in that it's basically a cross between the single and Revolution 1 from The White Album (which does feature the 'shooby Doo wops').
I love how at the beginning of the video everyone is just getting into it, but then by the last chorus everyone is feeling the power of the song and getting into it. I love it.
Especially relevant with the lines "But when you talk about destruction, don't you know that you can count me out." and "But if you go carryin' pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow." The riots and the Communist iconography are exactly what John wants to be separate from.

Now there is only Ringo, and Paul. Please everyone remember John, and George. Every December 8, I still cry for John. And George I think about him also. They were the Fab Four. I am 70 years old.. Beatles Girl forever.
You can argue on if they were a rock or pop band all the live long day. In my opinion the Beatles themselves are their own genre. They did everything from pop to metal, to rock, blues, to ballads and show tunes, even children's sing alongs! They helped inspire and create some of the other best bands in the world. They absolutely owned the 60s. They changed the world and music as we know it for the better and I'll always be so grateful. How all four these immensely talented men got together to form this band is something supernatural.
They were pop, according to their era. Pop is not a fixed definition, only what's popular, and being pop doesn't prevent you from being another genre. Sometime in the future, its possible that Death Metal will become the preferred genre of the masses, and then that will be considered as pop.
Krab Borg djenting wasn't a thing in the sixties love. Helter Skelter however does have a very metal-like sound, it was one of the heaviest songs of the 60s in fact and is referenced as a precursor to metal and one of the songs that helped inspire the genre. I want you (she's so heavy) also has certain doom metal undertones in it. You have to keep in mind the historical context. It was the 60s and technically metal wasn't a thing then, but through the Beatles' experimentation they helped create the genre. That's all I mean by it :)

Um yea? So? Paul was too technically. John and Ringo we’re both technically 29, why is this noteworthy? They’d been a band for over a decade at that point, that’s the impressive part, not the fact that they were still relatively young when they broke up. It’s almost noteworthy just how young they were when they started, but even that is fairly common. Most famous people are young when they become famous. I’m not trying to be mean, but this isn’t that crazy yall
NO band can ever hold a candle to these four guys. Four guys that LITERALLY changed the world! Beatles FOREVER! Thank you Working Class Liverpool, UK for giving the world your native sons!
Hi Vort. I can't believe how lucky I am to have lived almost my whole life in Liverpool, from the mid-sixties onwards. I used to work in Penny Lane post office and I've often walked or driven past John Lennon's childhood house, Strawberry Field and Eleanor Rigby's grave. I'm a very proud Scouser and, of course, I love The Beatles.
Absolutely fantastic!!!I'm french and i say thanks to the Beatles for ever....These are the real words for a real revolution..."You better free your mind instead"..All right!!!!
This song really showed Ringo's influence, great drumming! John showed that he had a lot of talent on guitar as well as his superior singing and writing skills!
What makes this the ultimate protest song is when John Lennon sings “When you talk about destruction, don’t you know that you can count me out" he immediately off mic also says "IN". 0:34 Most people miss that one word. It's the real human doubt vs the ideal that makes this song next level genius. That is John Lennon.
John says “IN” because he hadn’t made up his mind about joining anything destructive. He doesn’t say it in the final version because he made up his mind, “Don’t you know that you can count me out “.
@@wchambers3849 You may be too young ... but, I'm pretty sure on my original, genuine, White Album, John does, in fact, say "in." Or, somebody says it..Either way. Doesn't matter. I appreciate more today than I did in 1969 -- whenever -- what talented guys they were. Especially George, who I think is underrated. His riffs were perfect for the Beatles, if not of the quality of Clapton or Mick Taylor.

Yeah. I was twelve years old when this song (on a double-A-side single with "Hey Jude") was released. The Beatles changed their style so frequently and so drastically from 1964 through1970 that every record that was released almost sounded like a new band. Amazing.
My mom was very anti-beatles... But her sister had a couple of their 45s. But I listened to them when I was in junior high and high school. It's good to hear some radical music... 😎
For the record, Ringo’s drumming looks simple and effortless, but keeping the timing like that, with both hands hitting the beat at the same time (including some of the drum fills) it’s really hard. Just an amazing drummer!

I absolutely love this song. What I find astounding is that between May-1968 and August-1969 (15 months) the Beatles recorded The White Album, Hey Jude/Revolution single(what a single!), Let It Be, and Abbey Road. This period in itself would be an amazing career.
I was 3 when the white album came out. I can't remember but my big brother tells me my favourite song at that time was 'Everybody's got something to hide except me and my monkey '.

The story. The color, the textures. The time. The people, the place. The compassion. The unspoken concern. The chronicle of daily real life. This is the genius. This is the magic. It will never happen again. But we were there. The world is wonderful. Live it while you can.
Indeed. For those born since, they have no idea at how much music changed as a result of these four kids. If you left earth in 1960 and returned in 1970, you wouldn't recognize what happened to music. And everything which came after them, including the other greatest bands (Who, Zeppelin, Stones, etc.) would not have existed if not for the groundwork laid by The Beatles. I’ve been listening to the Beatles for like 3 years now, and I haven’t listened to every single one of their songs, so I’m still discovering more of their songs. Today I found this one, and I can not stop listening to it. This song is incredible.
Keep listening and digging into Beatles body of work. You will NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED!
Enjoy the mind blowing journey.😊
Trust me, I don't think they ever had a bad song on any of their albums. And if you notice how as they made new albums the music changed into another level higher than the previous one. And they did it in such a short time. It's like they had all these lyrics and melodies hidden in their minds and they were just waiting to be let free to sing them. And their songs are so emotional that everyone can relate to them. That's what made them so liked, because it was like they were singing about us. Their songs started out as pretty simple rock and roll songs, and then morphed into something from outer space. Enjoy your journey through the many songs of the Beatles. You'll never get bored.
Yea, they were very creative, a huge range stylistically, keep digging, there's more

Wings are better
Kenny Thunders True! Watch the movie Cadillac Records. It was the black race that invented music and got it started and Chuck Berry sped things up a bit. Muddy Waters said "blues had a baby and called it Rock N Roll.

@@bluepeng8895 Wings these days are certainly underrated -- they did some great stuff, but I don't think they were better than The Beatles. (McCartney also thinks The Beatles were better.)

65 years old, and I am still grieving the loss of John Lennon.
I've been listening to them since the beginning. It never gets old. Side two of Abby Road is as good as it gets.
Excellent post
They were pop, according to their era. Pop is not a fixed definition, only what's popular, and being pop doesn't prevent you from being another genre. Sometime in the future, its possible that Death Metal will become the preferred genre of the masses, and then that will be considered as pop.
What do you mean metal? This band doesn't even djent!

Perfect analysis. I was 13 in '63 and 19 in '69. Huge changes in those 6 years. I had all their albums....

@@TedParkman Indeed, it is maddening. It doesn't bear thinking about how much great music and wonderful wit the world has lost.
I've always wondered about that. Never seen an explanation. All I can think of ... John was in for part of the "revolution," but out for other parts.
John says “IN” because he hadn’t made up his mind about joining anything destructive. He doesn’t say it in the final version because he made up his mind, “Don’t you know that you can count me out “.
