There hasn't been a single time I've regretted buying the lifetime licence. Now I'm feeling like going on a Lucas Arts binge. I have my own version of The Game, in which I have to announce whenever I'm thinking of Full Throttle and proceed to air guitar the intro riff. So thanks for the reminder. do-do-do-dooo, dodododooo.
I remember being a devout HyperSpin user and hearing about LaunchBox when it was first released. The idea of fuzzy matching and one click importing was mind blowing compared to the nightmare that was setting up HyperSpin. I was really skeptical, though, because there had been a slew of false start front ends promising to simplify the process. All these years later, LaunchBox still stands having delivered on all its promises and still delivering.
Thanks, the Vita import update is amazing. I spent over 2 days a few months back importing my library one at a time so its excellent to see this feature.
Great new features. I still wish we could change the automatic import for only selected consoles. Some consoles might run .bat files, be in a folder with tons of other files and a whole heap of different scenarios where this automatic import wouldnt be able to solve it. I would just love to exclude these consoles from the import and keep the automatic import for the more simple ones.
That is planned for a future update, but in the meantime, come to the forums and help us find those odd platforms and see if solutions could be found. Something to note: all Arcade based systems are already excluded from the automatic import system
It now works perfectly. Thank you for the great update. After the first installation, a different emulator than ScummVM was entered in the configuration and therefore the games did not start. After the manual correction to the correct emulator, everything ran smoothly.
Sounds like a configuration mishap, this is better troubleshooting over on our community forums. You may want to make a post over there with a detailed explanation of all of the steps you've done, along with a bunch of screenshots showing your configuration. Best show a screenshot of the game's Launching page, the game's Emulation page and the ScummVM Emulator window sections.
@@UnbrokenSoftwareLLC Thank you, I also suspect a configuration mishap somehow. I`ll try some more configurations and if nothing helps, I´ll head over to the forum. :)
Crazy how far Jason and now more devs ? Has taken this. I got it pretty early when it just released out big box. Remember thinking how easy it was but lacked what would become big box. Then went back when big box was released but still dappled with other frontends because the lack of themes.. once that was in it was just game over for the other Frontends in my book. Just gotten better and better
Good to see the new features! Now just need to add views in BigBox to view games for each platform by star rating. I want to see my games for each platform from best to worst. We can sort games that way in LaunchBox by just clicking an option, why not in BigBox?
There's a big performance issue if you use 3D jewel case in menu because of the reflection effect is causing enormous lows fps even in a RTX 4070 ti pc. I wish there's a way do deactivate the reflection in jewel cases.
It's unfortunately not the reflection that is causing the lag, but it's the model itself. When we were creating it, we had a high poly and a low holy version of the model and the users at the time really wanted the high poly one, as it looks better, but requires a beefier machine to run. It's possible in the future we may offer the low poly model for users with computers that may not be up to snuff.
Thanks for the update. I don't know if this is already possible or a feature request for PS3: I'm having a bunch of not yet installed PKG-games in one folder. It would be great to have these already shown in Launchbox before I install them, to find games I am interested in. Launching it from that list would mean that I am installing it. So basically it would be great to have 2 categories: Installed games and not (yet) installed games for PS3. Is this possible?
Your best bet is to head over to the community forums and fully explain the process you used to import your games into LaunchBox, and someone from the community should be able to help you find the issue: forums.launchbox-app.com/
Ever since this update launching from launcbox to bigbox and vice versa has been totally broken. Keep getting an error message saying that I dont have write access permissions to the launchbox folder, when i absoluitely do. Was working just fine before this update. Edit: When i launch directy to launchbox or bigbox it works fine. its only when i try to switch directly from desktop launchbox to bigbox. I guess i'll just steer clear of that for now
Does the software now automatically remove games from its library if they were uninstalled/removed through other platforms like Steam? That was my only pet leave when library gets big and you uninstall games… they still show up in LaunchBox library.
The system was more designed as a representation of your entire storefront catalog, with features designed to allow you to filter by installed and uninstalled games. For example, one way you can accomplish what you are wanting is to create a playlist that only shows installed Storefront games, and use that playlist as your primary way to access your games. This list will dynamically update to only show your installed games at any given moment.
I am using the latest 13.15 beta and when I add my Vita3K emulator it doesnt scan for roms on the next boot of launchbox...is there a way to force this?
If you find a specific platform isn't working properly with the auto-imports, it could be one of two things. Either your game folders contain way more files than just your game ROMs, or we may need to adjust some settings for a particular platform. If you have a particularly problematic platform, head over to our community forums and make a detailed post about it, and we can look into it.
I keep all my roms on a separate drive to Launchbox as I don't have enough space to put them on the drive Launchbox is installed on, I was just wondering if there is an option that will let me change the main rom folder(where all the other subfolders are kept) to another drive and still use the auto import feature, eg instead of being c:\launcbox oms\ and then the subdirectories I could change it to e:\emulatorgames oms\ then the subdirectories and auto import would start scanning there instead.
Yes, you can, but it's not as straight forward to that. There will still be more updates to our overall system that should eventually make it easier to do so. However, for now if you go to Tools > Manage > Platforms, add a new platform, remembering to type in both the platform name and "Scrape As" value. Save out the platform, then enter back, go to the folders section and you can change the platform's game folder to where your ROMs are located, then we will scan that folder for your platform's games.
Cut and paste the LaunchBox\Games subfolder, place it on your other drive, then create a junction (or symlink) from it back to Launchbox\Games. Install Link Shell Extension to make this easier.
Great new features. As someone who keeps their games on a seperate drive, can I set my automatic import directory to somewhere besides the lb/games folder?
We have future updates which will make this even easier, but right now, you simply edit a platform, and change the Game folder location. We monitor whatever the platform's game folder is.
I had ScummVM setup previously. I have been having trouble getting this to work. I removed the original emulator setup I used and went so far as to remove the platform. When re-adding, I don't get a prompt to install ScummVM. If I go through the old process of Downloading in the add emulator section, it still doesn't start. I've made sure the platform and emulator are both setup to look correct and use the default settings for command line. I even made use the emulator was aimed at the exact folder with the EXE. Is there something special to do if I have a previous setup?
Tried again a few minutes later and it works. I have no idea. Maybe it was downloading in the background? What a mystery. It'd be nice if the files could be kept in a 7Z to keep the space tight and reduce the file hashing when syching to a server.
We may add some settings to an emulator to allow it to actually function immediately after download. Some things we may do, depending on the emulator, is making the games launch full screen, with as little emulator nagging as possible. The goal is to get users up and running with as little steps as possible.
@@UnbrokenSoftwareLLC cool perhaps a forum section where users could share settings.. but that is really cool.. man I’m out of the loop feels like forever since I sat down with LB..
Is it a North American thing to pronounce the version as "thirteen point fifteen"? Using conventional English (English) one would usually say "thirteen point one five".
Dear creators of Launchbox, could you please review the value of the application for Brazil, $30 is equivalent to 15% of the country's minimum wage, not wanting to reduce the prestige of the application but with a more accessible value piracy would be less applicable.
This can be done through filters or auto-populate playlists, however, we are aware that the experience could definitely be better here and we have it on a long long of things to eventually get to!

This was simply an observation. I only made the list so I can manually import them and be done. For a list of 87 games that's a short list of missed titles all US discs when possible

It would also be great if it could ignore additional game files inside same folder when it already has imported .M3U file for multi-disc games.
