If you want to see a worldwide event ask the Brits. No other nation on earth can command such worldwide attention. The London Olympics opening and closing ceremony were nothing like we've ever seen before. The Royal weddings pull in billions of viewers worldwide. The music talent is second to none. The Brits pretty much have it all in terms of being able to show their talents on a world stage, unlike no other.
This was the best Olympics of all time. Look at the 100m finals for example, the 5 fastest men ever lived against each other in that finals. That will never happen again.
I have often spoken to a paralympian friend who participated at London 2012 paralympics. He cannot praise London 2012 enough. - I am so proud of this country for what was achieved.
No country can do something that comes close to what we see in London 2012. The USA and Japan may have the money, but there's something they will never have : class, good taste and the rich history and tradition only the UK have
what a voice, she deserves all the credit shes getting now,i was in a park 5 minutes from the stadium with big screens up when she sang this,it was just so moving the whole crowd was silent with respect,so amazing to here this live.
3:28 I really burst into tears when I saw Shin A-Lam still on the piste. She would’ve moved onto the finals but the clock was reset from 0 seconds to 1 second due to a ruling where one fencer is awarded priority when in sudden death. Her opponent won. She remained on stage while her coach filed an appeal, that eventually fell through. She still remained on stage crying in shock about what just happened.
For me, that moment epitomizes the Olympics to me. We watch these young athletes for entertainment and we forget that for some of those people, it's the culmination of their life's work and it might be their once and only chance to win a medal. I had been aware of what happened with Shin because it had made the news and seeing her just sit there all alone while Emeli was singing with those heartfelt lyrics made such lasting impression on me. To this day, I hear this song, I think of the London Olympics and of Shin.
Emeli is just an amazing talent.. its 2021 and we need her spirit, passion and strength..even more than the Olympics...and yes this was the best opening ceremony ever
I was not looking forward to the Olympics being held in my home town. Thought it would just cause a load of hassle, that I did not want. However from the moment the opening ceremony started i was hooked. Made me so proud to call myself British, and to call London my home.
Not to mention that the two years I spent in UK were the best of my life... I wanna scream, I wanna shout til the words dry out "British, you are wonderful people" :)
One of the best Olympics 2012. The Brits did it with talent and class. And I'm from the US. What a powerful, beautiful voice Emelie Sande from Wales. Well done UK. :)
this song is perfect for this new year, 2017. we have let ourselves become so divided , we shame others and treat others with such disrespect that we become so afraid to speak what is in our hearts. Let's make this new year a time of change where we come to respect one another and where we learn the value of working together rather than against eachother. ☮🌍❤
This was one of the magical summer back in 2012, i was in London for my exchange program when this happen and watch this on tv with my friends. Btw Emelie Sande's voice never disappoints
This has got to have been the moment that summed up the whole Olympics for me, it brings back all the memories of such an amazing summer that I will never forget. I loved every moment of the Olympics. I am so proud to be British xxx
This was really my first olympics (I don't remember much of the 2008 one, and before that I was too young) so for the large part the Olympics and the UK were interchangeable terms in my head. It's only know, with Brazil getting attention, do I realise how special it was. I wish it had come later in my life, so I could see live when it was announced we would be hosting it, and really appreciate it when it was (probably for the last time in my life time) in my country.
I am ENGLISH and proud. But we BRITS did a fantastic job . The accolade of the world has been the biggest pat on the back that money could not buy. Thank you
Oh my Goodness I can't listen to this whole song all the way cause I just love it too much. Its incrediblely beautiful 🥺💜💚. London 2012 was epic. The nostalgia wow!
Can’t believe it’s been 7 years I still remember watching this on tv. London olympics were the absolute best

I was already in tears from the beginning because i love emile sande, but as soon as the clips of the athletes crying came up...i was gone 😂😭😢
Ĺistening to her again and again. She is so remarkable and unbeliavable.
Emeli is just an amazing talent.. its 2021 and we need her spirit, passion and strength..even more than the Olympics...and yes this was the best opening ceremony ever
It was the closing ceremony. You can tell by the clips of the winners/losers crying. But the whole of the London games were my favourite yet.
I was not looking forward to the Olympics being held in my home town. Thought it would just cause a load of hassle, that I did not want. However from the moment the opening ceremony started i was hooked. Made me so proud to call myself British, and to call London my home.
